Iam Jennifer, Iam having a doubt in Flash, I hope that you are going to solve my problem, Iam taking 3 Static text fields as Name, Age and Country and besides each and every static text fields i have taken 3 input text fields with different instance names, when i enter my Name, Age and Country details in the input text fields and after entering those details if user clicks the submit button the data should be send to some mail address, is it possible?

View 1 RepliesI've been trying to work on a web portal for updating a website I am creating. I originally duplicated a write-to-.txt php script and duplicated it for each of my pages, but for some reason it isn't working out very well as I assume they are fighting with each other. I am looking into creating what I assume is called an array, so that I can store 5 separate data pieces in one text file but I can't seem to find a tutorial that is close to this. the closest I can find is a guestbook tutorial but it is very out of date. I would like to be able to store multi-line text (so that paragraphs and breaks are preserved) from 5 different input boxes and then retrieve that data upon loading of the input boxes and in a different page which would be the actual content of the website.

Can you tell me how to import form a single xml file, data to multiply text fields. if you can, tell me what is the AS code that imports the xml file in flash, than how to link the different txt fields to the difarent modules from the xml and what is the xml structure.

View 3 RepliesI'm using AlivePDF in a project, and this is actually the first time I've used it. I've gotten it to work just fine except for when I send the PDF file to a server. The problem is the save() function makes a few assumptions:
1. it assumes I don't need to send any other information along with the PDF file.
2. It assumes I want to pop open another page.
3. It assumes that Flash doesn't need to know what's happened to the file after it was sent.
What I want to do is send the PDF file along with some other data with a URLRequest, and then get the response back from the server, and depending on the response move on. AlivePDF seems to have this "one size fits all" function for sending the PDF to the server. has anyone dealt with this before? Any resources I can look at? I've been all over Google trying to find answers, but I'm kind of at a loss.
I've been unable to send data to a text file. I am making a news poster for a website, but free or any XML, php MySQL or anything else; so is it possible to send data to a .txt file using no other files? is it getLocals or something?

I am working on somethign at the moment which allows a user to use a local connection to send and receive bitmap data. But I am havign a slight problem. Ok so at the moment I am using code from the bytearray live jpeg encoder to encode bitmap data as jpeg and then send it on to another swf opened at the same time when I click on an mc in the send swf.
So here is my code:

But what ends up happening each time is that it seems to draw only the bottom right quadrant of the mc I am targeting. As shown by the screenshot I have provided. When the user clicks the first of the blue buttons it should send the whole bitmap.
I'm working on developing a casual FB game in AS2 where one of the features is that the user can put on a cropped version of their FB profile pic on the sprite's head. I don't know how to send bitmap data over the wire in AS2, and since I'm sadly not using AS3 (which supports ByteArray), am looking for an alternative way out.

I am the fan of kirupa but this is my first thread in forum. I have some problem with sendAndLoad method with actionscript 2.0. I am developing a online game with flash mx , MS SQL 2000 and asp. The problem is I send the data using sendAndLoad method to asp file and get data back from asp file. But when the internet connection is not good there is a problem like jam or lost packets. How can I prevent the lost of packets. Some of the data are important. Is there any way to solve this?

How can I save data to a text file and also append a record to data in an existing text file? I've used Authowrware previously and it was quite easy to create a large string of data (a comma separated list) and export that to a text file (and create the text file if it didn't already exist). I could then easily append additional rows of data (records) to the text file. We want to build a questionnaire that will store the data locally on the computer in a text file. Each record may have a few hundred data points in a comma separated list.

I need the Flash Application to send the value of Category plus the search string in my textbox to my Access query and return results for each product meeting selection criteria. The Flash Application is calling an ASP.NET web service which in turn queries an MS Access database.
To start, how do I define the category ID and search value in my Actionscript 3 code?I've placed a series of 12 or so objects that will be populated with the product description, title and price. How do I setup each field to be dynamic text associated with the title description and price from my query results? If there are more than 12 products returned by the query, how do I add an additional page of objects to house more than 12 query results?
I have been trying to extract information from this file on YouTube using AS3. I have managed to access ytID (YouTube video ID) along with the ytName (YouTube video name) from a specific channel (called through the loader). I am stumped on how to get the thumbnail URL. I have managed to find out that through YouTube, its tag is media:thumbnail, however, Flash gives me an error for trying to use a semicolon.

For the first name and last name fields, I would like to combine the data into one field for appearance sake, but for some reason, only the first name data is appearing when I run it. However, the project is acting very strangley, certain areas of the whole movieclip aren't responding in the normal way. If i move a fully working button in to certain areas of the screen it won't react at all or fire off any events.
I have uploaded a video to youtube that demonstrates how certain areas of the screen are just black holes

New to AS3, and just went through the great Kirupa tutorial on parsing XML using AS3 My trace output is fine, but when I try to send that parsed data to a text box, only the last XML node appears in the text box (named dynamicText_txt).Here's my XML:

I make a file with the name Text.txt and write there TextFld=You are Good Boy In flash I make a getText.fla in which i build a Text box at stage and set it to dynamic and the name of this variable is also TextFld Instance Name is Txt. pretty fine it shows this information in flash but i want to use this variable in action script to do more action i.e i want to make flashy text. I want to store this information in a variable and then use that variable for other purpose.
I am trying to load dynamic data into text fields with in flash (.swf) the system is a closed circuit (no internet & web access) basically there are about 10 standalone computers connect through a network and one central computer i created a flash which will be downloaded to all the computers at once and each computer has a unique (name).
My goal is to load the different data into the text field for each computer:
Computer 1 would have winner 1
Computer 2 would have winner 2
and so one........
Steps the code should do..
1. call function and load the "unique (name)." of the computer by going to ("c:/myharddrive/local.ini"); flash will reconize the "ini file to say "this is computer 1
2.then have the txt request come from("c:/CMS/MediaFiles/Data2.txt");
when i publish the file out there is no errors-
When I view the files on each computer there is no data (blank screen")
so my guess it is not seeing the path for new URLRequest("c:/myharddrive/local.ini");
or
new URLRequest("c:/CMS/MediaFiles/Data2.txt");
can anyone breakdown the code and let me know how flash can go to those specific areas on each individual computer and pull the data into flash

In my AS I load XML data into an array for titles which will be used later in dynamic text fields. I trace this, all of the titles load fine into the array. I use a for loop to attach a movie which has a dynamic text field inside of it. The movie attaches just fine, in a verticle menu just like I want it. The dynamic text field has the right instance name inside of it. I set the text field instance name to the array, but it didn't show anything in the text field. I knew it was there since it was Selectable and the selection cursor pops up whenever I hover over where it should be. So I create a string variable like so to try and go around whatever is messing it up:

I'm kinda noobish when it comes to getting information from XML information sent to my flash file from the socket server. OK so for example the server sends me this:

I want to get the name of the user and the X and Y position! Is there a way I can get this information without a load of fuss from functions and other junk remember im kinda noobish.
I have an as3 game that I am trying to debug. To do this, I allow the game to play itself repeatedly over-night (which generates information for around 500k games) and then I analyze the info in the morning. I would like to save the debug info to a text file instead of using trace statements. Currently, the game creates about ten strings per play which are printed to the screen. Is there an easy way to save these strings to a text file?

When user will fill in his name and age, these data should be sent to some external file. Whats more, when you will fill again the same text areas (name, age) these new data should be also send to external file (the same one or different one - these data should not be overwritten).
*Later i should have access to this external file (when I will open it, I will see all the data that has been sent to it)
