Apr 13, 2009I'm building a site that will change the background depending time of day. I do want to show the time in the top of my page. What are good codes for showing a time and date in Flash and what would I use to change background depending on if the time is past 7PM or before.
Example.
If the time is before 7PM I want it to show a background with a clear blue sky. If not then the background will be a starry night. I'm using CS3.
Flash Site Loading Time On Smaller Bandwidths
May 9, 2009I have a lot of questions about how to optimally load my newly created flash site (very large file size). I have created an entire site in Flash (one swf). It will take quite some time to load on smaller bandwidths, so I am wondering: Is there a way to have the main movie clip load, with the others loading in the background, instead of the user having to wait for the entire site to load.
Also, if I add a preloader to the entire swf, how can I get the flash movie to start before it reaches 100%? If not, is there a way to add preloaders to individual movie clips within the site. If not, how can I quickly break my fla apart and make my movie clips into separate swfs. After this, how do I add preloaders to those? Any general tips to greatly reduce fla or swf file sizes?
Professional :: Flash - Site Shows Infinite Loading Time?
Jun 23, 2010I am having an issue with my recently created flash site. I have loaded and tested this site on many different computers. There is a preloader which shows percentage of site loaded and bytes loaded. As far as I am concerned everything works great. When the owner of the company I designed the site for goes to check out things he gets an infinite load percentage and the site never shows up, only the preloader screen with an "infinite" percentage. The only difference between his setup and mine is he uses AOL online.?

What we are trying to do is change the color of the sky and shade of the buildings in a cityscape scene on a cartoonish style site. If it is 9:00 PM on the site visitor's end, they will see a nighttime colored scene. If it's 7:00 AM, it would be sunrise-ish.

Jan 10, 2011I would like to have a map of the 50 U.S. states. I would like to click on a state and have a small pop-up window that displays the temperature of the capital of that state. After 5 seconds the pop-up closes. Behind the scenes I would also like the clicks being tracked by a database. I am digging around weather.com trying to figure out linking RSS feeds to Flash and I am thinking MySql to count the clicks. Does anyone have any tips or a quicker, easier way to set this up?

Feb 11, 2007I was wondering if it is possible to get the accurate weather (temperature, cloudy/sunny/rainy/...) from an existing server somewhere into a flash mx file?For those who have windows vista already: there's a weather gadget that shows the temperature and a graphical representation of the sky outside, at that particular location, at that particular time (so very accurate).
First problem: where can I find a server who provides me of this data?
Second problem: where to start with the actionscript?
Weather Applet Doesnt Work When Embedded
Mar 29, 2010I have a weather applet using Flash and XML, its works great, but for some reason when i use a LoadMovie action to pull the SWF into my flash movie, it doesnt work. When i view the Weather.swf on my webserver it works just right. but when i pull Weather.Swf into Home.Swf it doesnt work.[code]i have a MC container on my stage called weather.i think for some reason when embedded its not reading the XML, any ideas?

Flash :: Javascript - Detect Weather A User Has Any Sort Of Flash Blocking Plugin Installed?
Feb 3, 2010I'm wondering wether there's a Javascript way to detect wether a user has any sort of flash blocking plugin installed so i can accommodate these users properly. For example, I use 'click to flash', but sites that use SiFR to render text are littered with "click to flash" buttons, which is getting very annoying. I don't use SiFR in my designs for this reason. But if I could spot wether there's a flash blocking plugin installed, I would simply not call the SiFR function.

Feb 25, 2012i have made a site in flash. stage size 955x600 i have exported it as fullscreen with no scale. the problem is that if i browse the site with a resolution of 800x600 (760x420 if i'm not wrong), the browser dont' add scrolls and its impossible to see the complete site. How can i fix this without resizing the site. i want the users to see with the proportions that i have now.. ijust want a scroll on the browser.

Nov 4, 2009the flash4 published set of files, with a variety of skins tried, works well on the local drive, even when moved to a different folder structure. when index.html is opened on the remote web site, the browser (firefox3 and ie7) displays the player conrols and a rotating horizontal barber pole, green and black, but no flash video.some of the skins i've used are: SkinOverPlaySeekFullscreen.swf, nOverPlayStopSeekCaptionVol.swf and SkinUnderPlay.swf. all work locally but do not play the .flv file on the web site. no problem playing flv movies on the remote web site if the file set is created by dreamweaver.
