Basic Flash CMS Samples To Change Pic And Text

I want to start basic. Are there any tutorials or samples where I can make a simple flash website with 1 pic and 1 text content in there and be able to change it like in a CMS system using whatever methods are best php, xml, asp. Maybe using PHP or whatever is the standard for Flash CMS at the moment. How to make a simple content management Flash site starting from there. Where an admin logs in and then change the content for the pic and the text.

I'm having a lot of trouble getting the total sample length of an mp3.
Also, when I load in the mp3 it does not play all the way through. It plays about half of it's length.

I want to capture audio samples from the microphone in my adobe AIR application and then save them to an flv file. I have the following code:
mic.setSilenceLevel(0, DELAY_LENGTH);
mic.codec = SoundCodec.SPEEX;
mic.encodeQuality = 6;

The problem is that I suspect that in my handler I am only getting raw samples and not compressed samples. The reason for my suspicion is that the number of bytes I get per message is equal to 20 ms (which my definition is 1 speex frame) of raw audio and not compressed audio. Also the number of bytes doesnt change if I change the encodeQuality. Reading the documentation suggests that adobe will only compress the audio before transmission to a flash media server or another peer. Is there a way to publish and read the stream locally in order to get compressed samples. ? Or any other way to get the compressed samples?

i've been batteling with this for over a week now and i've just been unsucessful. I wonder if someone has got a better solution/theory to solve my problem I am trying to make an online product selection in flash. So the user goes from stage 1 to 6 choosing different options.
The first stage is where they choose the material. I have over 100 different materials to display! I want to put them in a database so i can update it later and also apply filters on the display page, because each thumbnail needs to store the Picture url for thumnail and main picture, the name of the material, the Price range code, the Colour description, pattern description and the material description.
How can i achieve this?! I really have looked high and low for something that stores it on one page and filters can be applied. It just needs to fill a movie clip with as many thumbnails as it finds in the DB, whilst storing the information for each thumbnail. Eventually i would like to add a button below each thumbnail which says 'select this one' which then just sets a variable to the name of the thumnail button they clicked.

Since I began this project I have changed how I work and opted to create all text from here on out via actionScript.Since making the decision, however, I have to deal with text that has already been implemented. I am trying to reference a text field that has been statically created and cant quite figure it out unless I convert it to a MC symbol. Is there a way to access one of these fields through my actionScript much like I would if I were doing it striclty in code .. much like:

Now i'm really learning.I also come across numerous flash web sites in the past few weeks. Creating 3 dynamic text fields (caption, caption1 and caption2) on stage loading from XML. First set of data loads fine into respectable fields from XML, however buttons are not changing data on click. Working in Flash 8 using standard XML format. I have traced succesfully. All fields are on main frame (simple test page), but I am still not getting a response from my handlers on prev and next buttons.

I'm populating a dynamic text field using instance_mc.textField_txt.htmlText = "some string of text";Can this method of populating a text field be styled with CSS? or do you have to use an external text file?One thing I have tried is using basic html tags <br> tags in the string and this works, and so does <b> bold is there away of just specifying in the string a different font size and colour?I've tried writing an inline css style and this didn't seem to work.My text field is not created with as, but the movie clip in which the text field resides is added from the library in a function.say for example i have "Ricky55<br>Some Street"; is it possible to make Ricky55 in a larger font that some street?

I'm workin' on a cool project for school. I'm loading up some text from an external XML doc, and bringing it in to a flash textField.
It's working great, but I want to do a little formatting, first off, apply a bold tag or a bold font to some headings.

In Java there is a method of the AudioFormat called
getSampleRate
This returns the number of samples per second. I was wondering what the best way to achieve this with the microphone in flash is. I am not sure if I need to add a SamplesDatatEvent and use extract() or ?? I need to know the number of samples per second from the audio coming into the mic.

way to get access to sound samples coming from a microphone ?
So far I have not found such a function. In the meantime I am trying to overload alsa functions e.g: snd_pcm_readi to see if I can get the samples before flash treats them, but no success so far.
As a matter of fact, since I have no idea how both sound and microphone class work internally, I don't know exactly which alsa functions they call.

I have made a movie clip which I export to ActionScript 3.
In this movie clip I have drawn a text field (area? well TEXT) using the plain "Text Tool".
After selecting the text, and after I have entered "0" to be displayed, I edit its properties. It's Instance Name, defined at the very top of the list I have written "score". The text engine is TLF Text and the text type "Read only".
When I have made a instance of the movie clip using AS3 I can't get the value of the text instance named "score" - when calling something like trace(getChildByName("score")) in the constructor I just get null.
I want to be able to get the value of the text "score", and I would also like to change its value.
Just how do I get the value from ActionScript? I don't want to have to create the text progamatically and position it, and I doubt that I have to.

I can't find the line in the Adobe samples for a maze game where the actual .as code is included into the project. This is fundamental, since my own implementation is just using include "file name";, which isn't working. I also can't use import, since I then can't access the elements placed on the stage.? I tried to debug the code, but I can't even find the point where the constructor is called. The execution starts at "stop()" in frame 1 and then if you step into it, calls the enter frame event handler.

I admit I'm fairly new to flash, but I've almost finished an entire RPG battle system complete with music [etc. etc.] - but my problem is trying to add a preloader.. I have a basic page which says "Loading" and has a Dynamic text box below which should read the Variable "_root.loadText". In the first frame I have this code:

and in the second just "_root.gotoAndPlay(1);" for the updating process. I'm sure that's all okay. But when I export it, then upload the swf file to somewhere like SwfCabin to show people for testing purposes, they have to wait on just a blank white screen for 1~3 minutes.. -note: I use both Adobe flash CS3 [at home] and Macromedia Flash 8 [at school] - I can stick to just CS3 if needed.

I know how to get basic xml into flash, but I'm having a problem with a particular set up of xml. The sample below, I can get into flash but am having trouble manipulating it and getting the various bits of data into a format I can manipulate.

I'm creating my first Flash website using AS3, and it's really basic. I would like to put in a contact form, which I have made. I've converted the 3 fields (name_field, email_field and message_field) to a symbol (movie) called 'form'. I've also got a send button, which is called send_btn.
I've set up the Action Script so that when the button is clicked, the user is taken to a confirmation-style page. All I want to do is called a php script (I'm comfortable with the code for that) called 'mailer.php' and send the three variables from the form to it before then loading the confirmation page.

What is a good structure for a complete Flash website. ex.
1) Index.swf ( which is just a container and loader for the actual SWF site content)
2) Main.swf (the main content of the site that gets loaded in by Index.swf)
Should the index.swf load in several SWF's , like navigation file , news reel file , etc....Also , if anyone know of a web site that has this information or knows of a book that covers this material ,

Id like to make a graphical editor with flash that has some basic features like copying and moving files, and editing text-files.The editor is to be used exclusively offline.I know that AS doesnt provide such functionality, but perhaps its possible with some backend script that doesnt require any installs (like php does)?Javascript, perhaps?
