Is there anyway to change the colour of items showing in the dropdown list? By default, it's showing skyblue and I need to change it into grey? I'm using Flash CS4 IDE and AS3.

I have traced out the contents of the List MC and it has a child MC called 'content_mc'. I assumed this was the object containing all of my list items but the only members of this MC I can see (when tracing them out) are 'setRGB' and 'searchKey'.

"comboClip" is a clip which I want to show as icon in combobox.
I seem to have is that the Autocomplete component that seems to be part of flex extras is not displaying the list of items in the dropdown list. Basically, I get a list of blank items. I know they are there and they are the right items because as soon as I click on one, I get the right text in the combobox.
my Code in the mxml looks something like this

Again, when I type "T" in the text box I see a dropdown list with 3 empty items. Clicking on the third item puts "Test3" in the textbox. But the items themselves are not visible.
It almost as if its a font/foreground color thing, but I've played around with some of those settings too with no success.

I am building a flash banner ad that contains a dropdown list of US states. Once the list is clicked I want to pass the state code onto the end of the url for the ad.I used to be ok with actionscript but it was several years ago, and I'm wondering if its possible to have the ad grab the URL from the parent <a href> and just tack the state code onto it.I assume this is how clickTags work?[code]Can anyone offer any tips on how best to do this? I am a complete beginner and have no idea where to start this, hence i would need to know what to do and how to do it. I basically want the image to be a simple 2d image that i will create using different layers in photoshop and import them into flash, the layer images will all be one colour so the colour of the whole layer changes. so the colour palette will be on the side of this and when i click on an image and then a colour the image changes to the colour i clicked.

View 2 RepliesI'm creating a facebook application in flex. I'm actually working on the friends component that shows your friends who are using the application. now, each friend has a profile image.
I created the component using a s:List element.
In the Skin Class of the element i configured the requestedColumnCount to 3, which means it shows 3 friends. i added buttons to scroll left and right in the list.
Whenever I scroll to see a different friend, for a half of a second i see no image because the List component is loading the image in order to view it.
is there a way to make the list preload all the elements so i won't have this kind of problem ?
Building a website for myself and I know a bit of flash but not much. Mostly following tutorials and adapting for my own purposes. Anyway I am building a menu bar, which when you hover over certain items drops down a submenu. I can get the submenu to drop down ok but I cant figure out how to get it to link (jump) to a new frame/scene. I think problem is in function showSubMenu? Flash CS4, AS3

this is in an actionscript layer and works fine for the first set but when i try to use this same code for the other dropdown sections i get errors.i think it is because i an repeating the function but i cant get it to work without it either so i imagine i only need that function in the first set but i cant figure out how the other sets should look.
I'm using flex 4.1 to write an application. i read in the documents that has the rowCount property to set how many items to display. the does not have that property. how can I limit the list to display 3 items ?
View 3 RepliesI made a website a year back or so and I'm having to update it now. However I've noticed the flash menu I have on the site doesn't seem to appear correctly anymore when I check in on a PC using IE.
Basically in the bottom left hand corner the swf background colour should appear grey (#333333) not white. Seems to work fine on Safari and Firefox.

The 'recommendations' dataProvider is an ArrayCollection of String, which are generally sentences about as long as this one. By setting the variableRowHeight and wordWrap properties as shown, if a sentence is too long to fit on a single line, everything works fine- the row expands and the messages show on two lines, or occasionally three.
The space allocated for this panel within the entire canvas means if the total text size of 'recommendations' exceeds six lines, I need for the entire list scroll. This is also working just fine. The trouble is when using the mouse wheel to do the scrolling- Flex scrolls both the entire list and the single item where the mouse is hovering. Often this results in only the second half of a sentence being visible. Non-programmer friends I have asked to look at this noticed this, and tell me it as a problem. If a user does not notice the dual scrolling, and sees only a fragment of a sentence, it will be perceived as an error in the application.

I am new to flash and having a problem with fonts not showing up in the font list. I am trying to develop my first flash based site and designed the base in Photoshop, using a .TTF font that I downloaded. The font shows up fine in photoshop but when the file is imported into flash it says the font is not available.

Aim is to increase performance on tablets and have better overview what exactly is going on, what listeners are added and so. (I just don't trust Flex in this.). Do you know any alternative for DropDownList and/or DataGrid? I can't use MinimalComps, because there are little options to customize.

I'm trying to work out how to change text colour in Flash 4, but nothing I've tried will do it.What I have is some text that the user edits, then a button for the colour. When they hit the button, the text changes colour.I've tried changing the alpha levels and visibility levels of the text boxes, putting masks over the boxes that move into place when the right button is pressed, and a bunch of different approaches.

I'd like to display tool tips, once the user holds his mouse on an item of an opened combobox.Ifyou open the drop down list of a combo box, you'll see a list ofelements/items. Each of them can be accessed e.g. viamyCombo.getItemAt(0) .To me it seems I only get an object with adata and label property. But I think there must be more to it, becausewhen you hold your mouse over a sub-element, it'll be highlighted. Thismeans that there is some event listener on that very single item. how to change the background colour of a flash slide-show. I am trying to post a slide-show on a website, but some of the pictures do not fit the box well and, as a result, there are black bars surround them. Is there a way that I can change the background colour so that it blends with the background colour of the website?

depending on the colour they select they should be able to fill the shapes with that colour. Change colors half way through change their mind etc.
