ActionScript 3.0 :: Getting The Dropdown Items To Link To The Pages?

i am building a website that uses a flash dropdown menu and i am having some trouble getting the dropdown items to link to the pages.here is the code i am using
this is in an actionscript layer and works fine for the first set but when i try to use this same code for the other dropdown sections i get errors.i think it is because i an repeating the function but i cant get it to work without it either so i imagine i only need that function in the first set but i cant figure out how the other sets should look.
I've been trying to create a menu bar like this [URL] but the menu bar I create doesn't come over the items on the website. How to create those type of menu bar.
Building a website for myself and I know a bit of flash but not much. Mostly following tutorials and adapting for my own purposes. Anyway I am building a menu bar, which when you hover over certain items drops down a submenu. I can get the submenu to drop down ok but I cant figure out how to get it to link (jump) to a new frame/scene. I think problem is in function showSubMenu? Flash CS4, AS3

I seem to have is that the Autocomplete component that seems to be part of flex extras is not displaying the list of items in the dropdown list. Basically, I get a list of blank items. I know they are there and they are the right items because as soon as I click on one, I get the right text in the combobox.
Again, when I type "T" in the text box I see a dropdown list with 3 empty items. Clicking on the third item puts "Test3" in the textbox. But the items themselves are not visible.
It almost as if its a font/foreground color thing, but I've played around with some of those settings too with no success.
Is there anyway to change the colour of items showing in the dropdown list? By default, it's showing skyblue and I need to change it into grey? I'm using Flash CS4 IDE and AS3.
I'll try again, but this time I can add a link to the .fla my issue is this - I am building a website but the pages jump around - they don't stay still like they should[URL] the file is called "all files" - the main .fla is called "history" - there are two .swf's "wagon" and "band" if you test the website (CTRL+ENTER) and jump around between the pages for 20-30 seconds you will notice the pages jump around like crazy by themselves.
I'm just picking up flash and I am trying to make a new menu of buttons in the template and I will be changing the menu that is already there, but it isn't using conventional menu coding. This is the piece of code I am trying to use for my button to lead to a different movie clip to a different frame than the one the buttons are sitting in, a separate movie clip.
Of course there are more buttons, this is just one. Customhomes is the frame label, customhms_btn is the instance name. It tells me that customhms_btn is not defined. I have this code sitting in the movie clip that the buttons are in by itself in the first layer.
I am building a basic website and am trying to set up my buttons to link to my different pages. But some of them are not working and I have no idea why. The ones that arent working are in the red box. I really don't know why cause they are set up the same as the rest... is there a bug or something I dont know that wont make these work. Making buttons that open another url is easy enough, but for some reason I'm having a huge amount of trouble having a navigation button open new content on my website, such as moving from the Home content to the Menu content (the layout is static, only one small section filled with content changes.
I think the issue is that I can't figure out how to code it due to the fact that there are a good amount of nested movie clips, I'm not sure how to direct it to the place and frame I want.

I created a Flash CS4 document which contains 2 buttons. I used the code below to link the two buttons to well known web sites, tested them in Flash and the buttons work fine.
I have a asp.net master page that gets used by pages many /levels/deep/. I will put a link to a flash file in this template. I've created a slideshow that works great. Even the first image clicks thorough to a page. But it errors 1009 and the rest dont work. Here is the error I get[code]...
I have created a basic flash navigation menu bar for my website. I have added the bar into a frame on my dreamweaver page. I was just wondering if it was possible to link the buttons on my flash bar to open the pages into the main frame below my navigation bar? The code I have at the moment for my "home" button is the following:

and this is opening the "home" page in a new window. Is it possible to make it open it in my main frame (called mainFrame)?
I've in my flash scene main page and sub pages scattered in different ereas at the scene, but the scene start from main page and that what will show only, now if I clicked any link the scene carry us to the link page in the same scene, and from that page I can press any other link to start moving over the scene to different pages.

I'm building an rss reader in flash. I have the rss displaying with no problem, the problem is, I need each title to open the web page to a particular site.The link is the same for every header, so I assumed it wouldn't be that hard, but since I'm very new Flash and followed a tutorial to get this working[code]...
For the RSS I made a scrollable list of the items from the xml to show the time+title - this is working fine. Now when I click on the title it show on the text area (logText) the description. Now what I want is to add a link behind the description. I have tried with .link but it shows the whole link tag and not clickable link to the page... function selectLog(evt:Event):void { logText.htmlText = rssXML.channel.item[evt.target.selectedIndex].description; Would be nice to have the link working.. like "read more".. clickable link... behind the description.
I made 4 short 2 minutes SWF "presentation movies" that I want to burn onto BizCard CDs and mail to clients and prospective clients. I created a menu with the four items to link tot he movies. I ASSUMED I would be able to do this but I cannot link from my four menu items to the movies. I have tried everything but I end up with looping or syntax errors.
I'm having with a menu navigation system. I'm using Flash MX. I have created a menu system for the site I'm building ([URL]) where one of the buttons "Choose photographer" drops down a list of names. All the other buttons just jump to another page. The drop down is currently using tweens also the logo moves to the left as the dropdown appears and returns when the dropdown returns. All working fine apart from its a bit jerky.
It's I just wanted to get away from tweening and use action scripts instead, as I'm a newbie to all things Flash I trawled the net for tutorials and examples so that I could cobble together the exact same effect. I have managed to get the drop down work and return using the action script and it does seem smoother and works slightly better. But can I get the logo to move to the left and back in time with the drop down...no.
I'm creating a webpage, and I have made some buttons.Image 1 is the homepage, which is frame 1 in Flash.Image 2 shows that when I rollover the button "Portfolio,"I get a dropdown menu.I have this set as frame 3 in Flash.Image 3 shows that I've gone down the dropdown menu and rolled over "Photography." But if I rollout of any of the things from the dropdown menu, it stays at Image 2 (Frame 3)with the dropdown menu visible. Which is a problem...I want to be able to rollout of these buttons to revert back to the homepage, Image 1 (Frame 1).But, for instance, telling "Graphic Design" to go to Frame 1 on rollout means that if I try to go below "Graphic Design" to "Photography," I've rolled out--and so the rest of the menu disappears.So I want to roll be able to select anything from the dropdown menu, and only rollout to Frame 1 if I go outside the entire dropdown menu, not just one button.
Looking for a tutorial to make individual pages (jpg or gif) into swf pages so we can add links in an on-line flip book. I have flash, but have not learned as of yet.
I'm working through Dreamweaver fairly well, and I'm now wanted to import Flash buttons I've created myself into Dreamweaver for a website I'm currently building, and it's here that I'm finding the problem. I have been to the 'get URL Function', but it says something about needing to link to a web page? But my problem is how can I link Flash Buttons to a web page, when my site is still being developed and not published? Do I have to publish first?
I would like to know how to track my pages with google analytics to see which pages are getting the most clicks. My site is XML / Flash the menu is xml. Could I put the tracking code on each of the menu items in the xml file?
I'm trying out a page-flip program that tells me to create the pages as jpegs within a folder named "pages" in the Library. When I try to run it, it tells me it can't find the jpegs. I can get it to work locally by including the full URL (i.e., "...My Documentsedinnerpartiesimagesp3-large.jpg), but I know this isn't embedded in the swf file.
