I'm trying out a page-flip program that tells me to create the pages as jpegs within a folder named "pages" in the Library. When I try to run it, it tells me it can't find the jpegs. I can get it to work locally by including the full URL (i.e., "...My Documentsedinnerpartiesimagesp3-large.jpg), but I know this isn't embedded in the swf file.

I have created a twitter API in flash using ActionScript 3.0 which loads the latest feeds from a user by using the screen name of the twitter user. When I test the swf locally it works fine. But the problem comes when I embed the swf in html page. The swf loads but does not show the content where it needs to access the TWITTER url to load the feeds. It doesn't load the feeds. It asks for the global settings to be changed. So, I have changed the settings and played the html page.I works fine.My question is when I will upload the files to a server the same problem will come and it will not load the feeds. How to solve this problem permanently?

I am having mainly 2 problems in Flash for some time and I need some clarifications on them.
1. Handling pages.
How do I handle working with pages in Flash? Do I create a frame for each page and place the content of the page in that frame and when needing to go to a page I simply go to it's frame? Or do I use ActionScript to put and remove content from the stage and create every page in this way? What I mean by this is: if a page has a menu and a picture, I use ActionScript to put the menu and the picture there. If the next page has some text and a button, I use ActionScript to remove the menu and the picture from the last page and put the text and the button from the new page.
The first method seems simpler but that means that if the page has some content that needs to be loaded (a picture, for example), this content will need to be loaded every single time the page is opened.
The second method requires more work but is it more efficient ? When I remove the content from the page, do I move it to a negative x and y so that it cannot be seen or do I remove it completely and just load it again the next time the page is opened?
2. Handling a flow communication with PHP.
I constantly need to communicate back and forth with PHP. I use a LoadVars variable to send data to PHP (using "POST") and I use an XML variable to retrieve data from PHP (I use the "sendAndLoad" method). The data sent by PHP is in an XML structure. The problem here is that I need to have different channels working. I need to receive several different types of data. Do I create a set of LoadVars and XML variables for each type of data that I need to receive or do I simply use only the one set and use an ID variable to specify with which type of data I am working at the moment ?

I designed a flash banner with buttons. I am trying to get those buttons linked to other pages in my website. I have tried several methods but none appear to work. The first thing I tried to was to assign the buttons to my other webpages through using the behaviours under the windows tab in Flash CS4. It worked when using the publish preview option (preview in flash) and choosing Flash, but when I went to add the banner to my webpage through Dreamweaver, the buttons would not work. I tried another method and used actionscript 3.0. I kept getting errors.

I created a very simple website with the flash export capability of Adobe Encore. To my disappointment there is a noticeable black flash between the different pages which makes the project basically useless. What is causing the black frame and is there a way to fix it? I have included all the files involved as an attachement so you can take a look at the code if you want!

I'm creating a interactive cd in Flash. In my flash file is a movieclip that consists 103 frames. Every frame is a different page.I'm using Indesign to create this pages because its the best way to work with so many different pages. When I export the pages to .jpg everything looks and goes wel. Only the quality becomes very low when putting the swf to fullscreen.I've tried exporting it as .swf but is it wisely to put 103 .swf in a flash file? I'd like to keep the text vector and readable on every screen size.

I'm trying to create a site with HTML pages and Flash based navigation, which basically means that the site content itself is standard in HTML/CSS format, but the main menu bar with the buttons and all is an SWF file. Needless to say, each lit-up button on the menu bar has to dim out on release and take to the corresponding page, e.g. clicking the 'Contact Us' button would cause it to dim out (as if unavailable) and open the 'Contact Us' page. Clicking a different button afterwards, would re-light the previous button and dim-out the newly clicked button and take to the page that corresponds to the newly clicked button, etc, you get the idea. There are 4 buttons for 4 pages.
Anyway, so far I've tried two methods which have failed:
Method A.
I exported four duplicate SWFs from the same FLA, with the only difference being the one unique button dimmed out and the other three lit up (a total of 4 combinations). Then, I put a different SWF on each page. This, the 'Contact Us' page would have the copy of the SWF with the 'Contact Us' button already dimmed out; the 'Home' page would have the one with the 'Home' button dimmed out, and so on. The obvious problem with this approach is that an SWF needs to load over again every time the page changes, which results in a brief, but, nonetheless, annoying enough blink. I hoped to combat this latency issue by loading all bitmap elements in the flash files externally, as opposed importing them to the library. I assumed that since all SWF copies accessed the exact same bitmaps from the exact same location, they would be cached in the memory somehow and not need to be loaded every time, so there'd be no latency. Then again, I was two days younger. This method failed. As Eric Bogosian's character said in the movie Under Siege 2, "Assumption is the mother of all" (you-know-what-ups).
Method B.
At a couple of other message boards, I was suggested another technique, which would require only one single SWF. A guy gave me a tiny peace of Java Script that would use a variable to inform flash about which page is called so it would know which button in the menu bar to dim out. Although this technique rid me of the necessity to use multiple SWFs, it didn't fix the nasty blinking problem AT ALL!!!
Method C.
I was also advised to "put info in a div and generate server requests to bring the appropriate info up". "You need to use ASP or PHP or some other server language" he said. Well, ASP is absolutely out for me, so I won't even consider it. As for PHP, unless there exits a very simple and straight-forward tutorial with source files, which I could very easily figure out, modify, and implement for my needs, I can't get into it because since I don't know PHP, it takes me a really long time to learn how to do a simple thing with it, which is something I can't afford right now with my deadline and all.
Method D.
I basically want to put the page contents into an iFrame window. Even all drawbacks of using iFrames considered, I still thing this is the optimal way for me. So here's where I currently am on this:I learned how to change the iFrame content using a function. Here's a simple test example, and here are the HTML and JavaScript codes for that example:[code]What I need now is to be able to call that JavaScript function and pass it the URL argument using action script instead.

I am about to design my first Flash website which uses pages of different heights. I want the entire window to be Flash. There will be a background pattern, and the website design will be centered horizontally, with just the height changing depending on which page I'm on. Some pages will require scrolling and other pages will not. If possible, I'd like to use the browsers built-in scroll bar. A few months ago, I would have thought this was impossible to do in Flash, but I actually have seen a website which does exactly this. It's a shame I can't remember the URL. Any suggestions on how I might go about achieving this task? The only way I can imagine is to split up all the pages on separate URL's, but then I won't be able to do smooth transitions between pages.

1. Create a new Flash document of size 450—300.
2. Create two dynamic text fields on the left side of the stage. Type some text into them as I have done. Give them instance names of titleText and contentText.
3. Create a new empty movie clip (Insert -> New Symbol). Give it a name Image holder and hit OK.
4. Drag the image holder from the library to the stage. Position it right after the title text field (refer to screenshot). Give the image holder an instance name of imageHolder
5. Now we need to create the images that show up on the right side of each page. Feel free to use your own, or use the ones that I have. Remember the location where you save these images! You will need the path when we define the image sources in the XML document.

I have continued to find a resolution and have had no luck. My website has 5 flash buttons (tabs) to take you to a new html page. Each time you go to a page the button seems to have to re-load creating a "white blinking" inside the cell. The background of the fla file is black and I have the table cell background set to black hoping thatbut to no avail. I thought once a swf is loaded it won't have to re-load. The swf files are the same on all pages

I have a test site up here and as you can see, the Flash movie plays fine. But when you navigate to an inside page it does not. The flash movie has an action in the native file that references an xml file to list the images. So why wouldn't the inside pages do the same?
