Jul 5, 2009So this might be an easy but possibly a long answer, but I can't seem to find any good info on it anywhere. I'm trying to figure out how to have different sections of my flash site be linked to with different URLs. A good example of what I mean would be this site here: [URL] I'm not the biggest fan of the design but the functionality is great. It animates seamlessly between pages and each page has a separate URL. Is there an easy way to explain how this is accomplished?

Jul 23, 2009I am trying to do something pretty basic I think...I have attached a screenshot below of what the site looks like so far. What I want to do is always have the left hand side links showing on the site. I want to create a new .fla for projects and have that load on the window on the right when the projects link is clicked on. What I have done in the past is create the entire website within one .fla but that is getting too confusing. I assume some actionscript is required here which I am pretty useless with.

Sep 3, 2009i have a flash file created in AS3, let's call it file1.swf it contains a variable.. we will call this testVariable file1.swf is embedded inside file1.html file1.swf reaches a point where it needs to load a new swf file that we will call file2.swf file2.swf is done in AS2. file1.swf simply calls file2.swf by calling a new HTML file that embeds file2.swf
So file1.swf calls

I need file2.swf to have access to testVariable.

Apr 18, 2010What I need to do is assign 5 separate dynamic text fields to 5 seperate buttons and at the same time to those same five buttons i would like to add 5 images that i would be able to change merely by swapping out the images in the file theyre in on the server.I would also like to get a nice transition between the images...ALSO i want to dynamically load the images for the buttons that will be used for switching from picture to picture(which im thinking i will be able to do after i know the how to do point the aforementioned things.)
Through tutorials I've found around the net I've been able to get most of the parts together... but i get lost because what they show you for AS2 they don't for AS3 and vice versa, at least that ive seen.so... I guess my question is... would i need to set up 5 seperate dynamic text fields on the stage and then set each one of them to one of the corresponding button. If so what AS code would i need to use to do so. And if not what would i need to do?
The other part of the question would be I know about the UILoader... would i be able to use it as my buttons and images, if so would i need 5 seperate ui loaders for both the Thumbnail buttons and the images or is there a way that would be better to do it? and once i do that would i do the transitions using frames and tweens like with AS2?
ActionScript 3.0 :: Apply Separate Actions To Separate Keyframes?
Aug 19, 2009If I create a new flash AS3 file and create two blank keyframes in my actions layer I can add actions to each keyframe separately no problem. I can then easily switch between the actions frames from the menu bar on the left of the actions input panel. However if I try and do this on any of my projects i've been working on for a while when I create a new blank keyframe in the actions layer and try to add actions to it, I get sent straight back to my first actions keyframe and not a nice blank page. Can I even apply seperate actions to seperate keyframes?

Jan 17, 2011This is NOT the same as my last thread as i am after three and NOT ONE as last time. In the attached movie there are three seperate movies loading into three seperate tweens. Please note that i am happy with this movie as it is, and do not want to change anything about it except for the script itself. It refurs to three seperate clips "b.a","d.c" and "f.e". What i want is for the script to incorperate all three clips under one name of "mc" And instead of have three seperate widths, "width 1","width2" and "width3" i want the script to also incorperate all three widths and heights into just one name of "width" and one name of "height".

ActionScript 3.0 :: Getting Various RSS URLs From Flash With PHP
Sep 3, 2010I'm building a flash app that gets rss links from a list but then I need to retrieve the rss feed from the rss link to work with in flash. I did this locally using a proxy.php wich works on all types of urls.
PHP Code:

But on the server it only works with urls ending in .rss but not when it's a redirected url like .xml or other feedreader urls. How do I retrieve the rss from redirected urls on servers? Little sidenote, I made a test using a php form to call this proxy.php file that I made and when I use the urls that don't work in the flash app it does retrieve the rss feeds.
Opening 2 URLs During Flash Intro?
Oct 19, 2009I've created a flash intro for a website and I have it setup so that in the first frame of the intro it opens a popup window, and then in the last frame it opens the actual site in the same window as the intro. Right now when it hits the last frame it opens up the popup window again also! Ack! The code I've used for opening the popup window is:var url:URLRequest = new URLRequest("player.html"); navigateToURL(url, "_blank");
the code used in the last frame to move to the site is:var urlReq:URLRequest=new URLRequest('index2.html');navigateToURL(urlReq,'_self');
I'm guessing that it has something to do with re-using the same variable name. I tried changing the code in different ways on the second window opening but still had the same result, or broke it opening up any pages at all. I've also tried moving the two code snippets to different layers. I'm thinking there might be a few ways around this too such as if there is a way to trigger the popup window, and then have the intro wait x seconds and then opens the main site or something, but I have no clue how to go about doing any of this. have the site in question in a temp location currently and it can be viewed here: [Url]

As you navigate through the site the url changes to reflect where you are in the swf.

I've created a flash intro for a website and I have it setup so that in the first frame of the intro it opens a popup window, and then in the last frame it opens the actual site in the same window as the intro. In this case, the servlet is called/working fine only in my system where the flash application is deployed & not working when I execute the application in different system using the "IPAddress" of my system. So, What changes I need to make in above Flash code in order to call the same servlet successfully from my system and as well as from other systems? (OR)
Is there any need to pass the servlet-url's relative instead of absolute? If so, How can we pass relative-path of url's in Flash? && Can anyone explain me with an example? How to change my above code to pass the url 'relative' rather than 'absolute'? If I pass the url relatively, does my issue gets resolved?

Actionscript 3 :: Making Requests From Flash For URLs With + Signs In Them?
Aug 20, 2011I am hosting images on Amazon S3 and using them in my Flash application. My application receives signed S3 urls that point to the images in S3. The URL looks something like this (line breaks added for clarity):

The problem here is with the + sign that can occur in the Signature. If I send the + sign as-is, then the browser thinks that it's a space, as it should according to the URL specs. Really, S3 shouldn't use + signs for this reason, but it seems to be something they overlooked. Normally this isn't a problem since you just replace the + sign with a %2B. However, Flash has some default behavior that makes this difficult.
From what I can see, the URLRequest object is setup to always encode URLs as if it was passed through the encodeURI function. I don't see any way to turn this off. Unfortunately, encodeURI doesn't encode + signs, but it does encode % signs.
This means that if I leave the + sign in there then Flash leaves it alone and S3 thinks I have a space in my URL. If I use %2B then Flash turns it into %252B, due to encoding the

Oct 5, 2007I have a small flash movie with three buttons I would like to link to three different URLs. My code for these is below, however, when I test the movie there is a namespace error (copied below). I assume this is because both buttons are trying to use the same variable but I have no idea how to make this work in AS3.

What I want is to be able to click on the big image after it's loaded, thus launching a new window leading you to that project's URL.

I've had this site running fine for over a year, and recently I have discovered that the buttons that go to external URLs do not work.All of the buttons should be going to another .php file, and they have been until discovered yesterday that they do not.If you go to the .swf file directly, you will see that the navigation buttons take you to the correct .php files, but it becomes unclickable when it's in index.php.VERY strange... but then when you go back to index.php, and click the php active hyperlink "Gum Drops" at the bottom of the page, you'll get taken to the php page... and then all of a sudden the navigation, and all flash links to URLs work!

Feb 5, 2010I'm trying out a page-flip program that tells me to create the pages as jpegs within a folder named "pages" in the Library. When I try to run it, it tells me it can't find the jpegs. I can get it to work locally by including the full URL (i.e., "...My Documentsedinnerpartiesimagesp3-large.jpg), but I know this isn't embedded in the swf file.
