IDE :: Flash - Buttons To URLs No Longer Working In Php File?

Very strange thing has happened. I've had this site running fine for over a year, and recently I have discovered that the buttons that go to external URLs do not work.All of the buttons should be going to another .php file, and they have been until discovered yesterday that they do not.If you go to the .swf file directly, you will see that the navigation buttons take you to the correct .php files, but it becomes unclickable when it's in index.php.VERY strange... but then when you go back to index.php, and click the php active hyperlink "Gum Drops" at the bottom of the page, you'll get taken to the php page... and then all of a sudden the navigation, and all flash links to URLs work!

My client has asked me to provide a template for an investor relations section of their website. The HTML page or template for this page will be at the service providers site, but all the images etc. for the page will be linked to files on my clients server. Everything looks fine, but the absolute URL's in the .swf file back to my clients site aren't working.

I like to make alias varaibles for long names, so that i don't have to keep repeating huge lines of text, but when i try to create one for a custom class, it fails.

Its almost as if flash is trying to make the new variable a new Project(); instead of a reference to the other variable...

I have a small flash movie with three buttons I would like to link to three different URLs. My code for these is below, however, when I test the movie there is a namespace error (copied below). I assume this is because both buttons are trying to use the same variable but I have no idea how to make this work in AS3.
where i need to make changes so the code understand that "thisButton" should take the user to URL#1 and "thatButton" should take the user to URL#2?
This is for my own site and I have to use AS3 as there is an FLV on it as well which requires AS3 to be viewed.

I've been using the embed tag for a while and it has been working perfectly up until now. I've got an XML file that I have embedded into my .swf, using

and haven't had any problems. However it has just decided that it no longer wants to compile anymore, giving six errors on this line and this line only:

I had added a new function just before this error started appearing, but it had absolutely nothing to do with the embedding and the problem still happens after I comment out everything I added before the error.
When I test it in a new .fla it still works aswell, just no longer in this one.
This is in Flash CS5, ActionScript 3 by the way.

On one of the pages (In the site I'm designing) I have 4 buttons that need to link to 4 separate URLS. When I code one of the buttons, a link on another page is stopped.I guess what I'm asking is, what is the best way to 'layout' my button links in each page? And what is the best way to achieve 4 buttons with 4 different urls.

I am trying to put 3 buttons in a frame. I want each of themto act as a link to Web pages. If I use just the code forlink_btn_one it works great. If I include the code for the other 2it doesn't work. What am I doing wrong?Here's my code:

i tried looking here with the keyword 'preloader', to find answers to my problem but I didn't.I'm a freshman AS3 developer....with a portfolio site to launch asap.
I have a movieClip in my library that is exported to AS (external jpg) - it is loaded separately from anything else in my scene (which is disrupting my normal preloader animation). When I simulate the download my preloader doesn't appear in my preview window, and I have no error message either. At first, not sure what the problem was I tried various preloader tutorials online hoping to find a solution.

I can no longer see my code. I've tried two different .fla files, one I made and one someone sent me, but no luck. Clicking on the first frame on the Actions layer, I either press F9 or right-click and choose actions. The properties panel changes, but the code list window does not open.

I have just very recently downloaded a trail version of Adobe Flash CS5 onto my laptop. The version of windows is Windows XP, and the program itself is running as well as it should.
I went to youtube to see if there were any video tutorials that could help me get started with the program. Unfortunately, right before a video will play, the browser will say there was an error, and close, and then re-try to open the page.
This problem has never happned before I installed Flash, so I can only assume it had something to do with it. Everything else on my system is running smoothly, I even checked every file and processor twice for any signs of adware that I may have picked up accidently.

The only thing I get is a swf file.I don't really know why Flash CS 5.5 refuses to generate my project's apk file since I've never encountered a problem like this before. Is it a bug or am I doing something wrong? My player is set to AIR for Android,I have my certificate,I don't get any errors, and debugging on my device via USB works flawlessly.

I've built a flash photo gallery that pulls image urls from an external XML file. The gallery has different image catagories that load their own set of images.The user decided which catatgory they'd like to view by clicking an HTML button in the flash movies parent page...using javascript, this button click sends a variable to the root level of the flash movies with the new XML location...
Trouble is, onces the initial XML file is loaded, the movie has no need to refresh (and read the newly sent variable) ...*Unfortunately the catagory buttons MUST be outside the movie on the page...

The site I'm building has seperate swf's for each page...and I have the external swfs loading into the site. But my problem is that when I am on one of the external swf pages that has been loaded, and it has buttons on it, none of these buttons work. They work when I test the swf by itself, but once my main movie loads the swf into the site, the buttons within the swf no longer work.

I have started to take AS2 knowledge a bit further now and am working on a rss reader, i have multiple buttons which are loaded into the stage, what i would like to know is a) how do i create those arrays using their 'idenifier' and b) how do i link pressing those with the corresponding url in the urlArray?
what i then want to do is put the url which is loaded after a button has been pressed and put it as a variable which i can then load into

I've got a movieclip on my stage that contains a scrollbar and a few buttons.I have a function that rotates the uses _mc.rotationX=10;After an interval the function uses _mc.rotationX=0;After the movieclip has be rotated back to its original position the scrollbar and buttons no longer receive mouse events.[code]

I had a forum up a few months ago, and got help getting radio buttons to work with a continue button, causing the movie to gotoAndStop at a particular frame. (This is all being done on the main timeline).Everything was working fine, now, I keep trying to do it again, but regardless of which button I click, it only goes to frame 2 where the Novice radio button is supposed to go.I think the problem is in the line of code that reads:varframeNumber=2+Number(noviceButton.group.selectedData)I know it is set to only go to the novice area, but my understanding was that since these were radio buttons, any button clicked would work, and I only needed to type in one of the unique instance names

So, I have tons o' buttons that each need to link to unique URLs, and I'd like to minimize coding as much as possible. i have created a photo gallery using AS3 in Flash CS5. I have used prevFrame() and nextFrame() actions for "previous photo" and "next photo" buttons as well as for "previous thumbnails" and "next thumbnails" buttons.
All the buttons work fine when i run the swf files as well as when i run the swf files in Firefox 8.0 and IE9. However, once I insert this swf file into my html file using Dreamweaver CS5->Insert->Media->swf, the "previous" buttons dont work in Firefox 8.0! the previous image button works sometimes whereas the previous thumbnails button does not work at all They work fine in IE9. The next buttons also work fine in every browser. Heres my code:

I have several SWFs pulled in at runtime from different domains (we're using a CDN). There are some shared fonts within the SWFs. I'm trying to minimize file sizes as much as possible, so that means either not embedding the fonts in any of those SWFs and setting all their TextFormats at runtime. That's very impractical, and it would be easy to miss some of them.
The other, better option is to use runtime shared libraries to pull in the fonts, but that requires either an absolute URL (goes against the concept of using a CDN), or a relative URL (defeats the purpose of using RSLs in the first place since those resources would be downloaded several times anyway). Ideally i'd like to be able to tell each SWF at runtime where to pull in the fonts, and give them all the same, dynamic URL. I can't find anyone who's encountered a similar situation, so i'm not sure if this can or can't be done, but most AS3 problems i find are solved here, so i'm hoping someone knows a good solution for this.

I got a text file in the same directory as the flash file, and I am wondering what is the problem with it loading the url. the header is live on [URL] and it doesn't want to load the urls. what would be required to get it to do this? when ctrl + enter to test the movie, it loads the url in a new window. am pasting the code below:

I'm working on a flash header for a website with the page links contained in an external .txt file, and I'm experiencing a strange problem.The site is both in English and Italian: I worked first on the english version, I modified the AS code for the new .txt file and then I saved the project with another name and translated all the text into Italian.I also changed the name of the external .txt file as well as all the page links contained therein.Problem is when I click a page link in the Italian version of the site, the links are the same of the English version; seems like the .swf file "remembers" the old links just as I never changed the file name.This is the "_urls_IT.txt" file:

I have a movie. In it are some buttons and a dynamic text field. When I press the buttons is should load text from a database into the dynamic text field. If I run the movie by itself (ie. not by LoadMovie()-ing it into a different movie) the dynamic text field gets filled with text and all is well and good. However, when I use LoadMovie() to load this very same movie into my main movie, the buttons no longer work; the text field stays empty.

I have created a site a while ago and the client wanted flashing navigation buttons, this I have done and I he wants another page adding so I basically opened up one of the buttons, saved it as and made the changes, how ever when I preview the new index page with the added button the link doesn't work, I have also noted that one of the buttons that was working fine no longer links, i am using the following Actionscript for the links:

I have named the instance of the button LessonsButton and this was working, as are all the other buttons, bar the new one, I have built them in CS3 but have recently upgraded to CS4 Master collection, how ever, I have not used flash CS4 for these buttons, they have been modifed in CS3, any idea's as to where the problem may be and also why only one button has decided to stop working?
