I created a very simple website with the flash export capability of Adobe Encore. To my disappointment there is a noticeable black flash between the different pages which makes the project basically useless. What is causing the black frame and is there a way to fix it? I have included all the files involved as an attachement so you can take a look at the code if you want!

Now, heres the tricky part for me: I want those links to open up different pages inside the black center box either using frames or php. How could this be done? On the menu part, also, with the buttons, I need to make them movie clips for the effect I need for the rollover, but I want the movieclip to have a hitspace, how do I assign a movie clip a hit space.

how I can make a 95% black MC cover everything on the website page (full screen onResize) so I can present an externally loaded image by itself? I have seen this done before in a few flash portfolio websites but I can't seem to find the solution on any previous thread. I may have missed some threads. is there an actionscript that can do all of the above without having to resize an MC?
View 4 RepliesI designed a flash banner with buttons. I am trying to get those buttons linked to other pages in my website. I have tried several methods but none appear to work. The first thing I tried to was to assign the buttons to my other webpages through using the behaviours under the windows tab in Flash CS4. It worked when using the publish preview option (preview in flash) and choosing Flash, but when I went to add the banner to my webpage through Dreamweaver, the buttons would not work. I tried another method and used actionscript 3.0. I kept getting errors.

I am about to design my first Flash website which uses pages of different heights. I want the entire window to be Flash. There will be a background pattern, and the website design will be centered horizontally, with just the height changing depending on which page I'm on. Some pages will require scrolling and other pages will not. If possible, I'd like to use the browsers built-in scroll bar. A few months ago, I would have thought this was impossible to do in Flash, but I actually have seen a website which does exactly this. It's a shame I can't remember the URL. Any suggestions on how I might go about achieving this task? The only way I can imagine is to split up all the pages on separate URL's, but then I won't be able to do smooth transitions between pages.

Do I build the bar in Flash and then the HTML portion in dreamweaver or do I build it all in Flash? Would an iFrame work for this sort of website?

I was just wondering if it was possible to link the buttons on my flash bar to open the pages into the main frame below my navigation bar? The code I have at the moment for my "home" button is the following:

I am fairly new to flash and I have started to attempt to modify a template that I found online to make it my own. The thing that I am having problems with is the URL Links. There are 5 different clickable tabs on the header that I have, and when you edit it in flash cs4, each one is the same image when you edit it. The only way in which you can change what each one of them says is by editing them in the library. This isn't the problem. I want to link these tabs to different pages on my website. When I edit one of them, all of them change to the same url link. The file is too large for me to upload I think.

My idea, which I'm sure has been done before because people are always coming up with new inventive ways to browse the internet, is to be able to allow the user to free roam the entire website on one page. I wouldn't be asking if I found it so I figured I could put my mind at ease and ask someone.url...In this map, it allows the user to free roam this map and find different cities. My idea is to have the user to browse a map of a website to different parts of what would normally be links to other pages. The whole web map would be one page and the user could just move their cursor up or down or left to right to each section of the website. Once they get to a section, they can click on certain parts. There is one website that is similar to my idea, but I want to eliminate the use of a navigation bar.I am new to flash but I love web design. I want to come up with a new way to navigate.
View 5 RepliesThe pages get scrambled once I publish and test it for instance the one page shows and then the next and then another - all after another in rapid succession.I have the following layers:
1. Background - 20 (Where layer stops)2. Template - 20 (home) 3. Buttons 20 (the "20" layers will eventually change once the site grows bigger)4. page two- 25. page thee - 11 (has 9 pages on its own)6. page four - 12 now, the pages only jump around ONCE I ADD PAGE 4 - which is a movie.The movie is an .SWF and works fine on its own. The movieload tutorial is correct and works. There are also buttons on page 4 with button commands - I removed them and tested the published website without the buttons but they continue to jump around.
I am new to Actionscript and am working with AS3 in Flash CS3 to produce a portfolio website. Basically I have my flash set up with a 3x3 grid (9 boxes about 450px by 450px each box) and each box will have info and basically be a page that will be displayed in the masked area I have made. I have created a flash website in cs4 using AS2. I have 2 layers in my time line, content and AS. I created scenes along the time line and labeled each scene "about" "contact" etc.Each scene is 10 frames long and has the stop action applied to it. The gotoAndPlay command is applied to each button within the scene and I have used the folowing action on the buttons to link the pages:on (release) {gotoAndPlay("scenename");}This does link the pages however if i hit any of the buttons twice, it directs me to the wrong page. For example if I hit the home button twice, it will direct me to the about page. Should I be targeting a frame within the scene also?

View 2 RepliesI have what I hope is a fairly straight forward question that I hope you can answer if you write code with a Mac or are at least familiar with the process on a Mac? The person I have been working with to create my photography website uses a PC. Here is the problem. I am trying to use my Mac in order to create frames so that I can add 5 more images to a portfolio that presently has 15 images.
The code is in an index.fla file. If I want to create a new frame in the index.fla, let's say LOAD CODE 381 and want to use the same text that is already present in LOAD CODE 380 but with a few edits, I have no trouble going to the Action-Movie Clip and finding LOAD CODE 380 in the left hand column. The problem is, on a Mac, how do I create frame LOAD CODE 381 and then how do I copy and paste the text from LOAD CODE 380 into LOAD CODE 381? It looks like on a PC one can open LOAD CODE 380 in the Action-Movie Clip, highlight the text then right click on the red rectangular box in the timeline. By doing so (on a PC) one sees a drop down menu that gives the option to "copy key frame". What is the equivalent of the "copy key frame" on a Mac? I can see where on the Mac you can go to Edit >copy. Is this the equivalent of "copy key frame" on a PC? If so, once I "copy" the text how do I create the new LOAD CODE 381 so that I can paste the text into the new frame?
I've got a nearly completed Flash site, but one of the buttons isn't working--sometimes. Run the .fla below, wait for the animation to stop, and click the "services" star. Two more stars appear: "design and production" and "editorial." If you click on "design and production" first, everything works fine. You can get to editorial and everywhere else. BUT if you click on "editorial" first (after clicking "services" but before clicking "design and production"), the "design and production" button doesn't work from there (the "editorial" label frames in the "inline_frame" movie clip). I've got several Actions keyframes in the "inline_frame" movie clip--I don't know if that's kosher or not.
View 3 RepliesI'm creating website that I want to put my resume and portfolio on as different Flash applications. For my resume it would be like a mini-web site that has various linking buttons to different pages. I tried to use scenes b/c I had a professor who told us to use scenes to create our pages/animations, and the scenes concept did not work with the actionscripting.
I then read online that scenes were not the way to go. So I'm trying to use Frame Labels to create this - right now I made a menu movie clip that I have my actionscript in for each button - the buttons have the correct instance names and I have my frames properly labeled with their movie clips attached to each for each part of the resume/page portion.
This is the code I'm using in the Menu movie clip. The problem I'm having is that when I click on each button - nothing happens! I tried this one, and nothing happened:

I have developed a Flash website using the Flash Player 10 and its 3D capabilities. The website seems to be working great on my PC which is a high end computer but when I have tested it out on slower computers, the animations are really choppy and frame rate is dropped a lot.can you take a look at the website and suggest me ideas what could be the result of such frame rate dropping. The website doesn't use much animations in the background.

a) how is the frame paradigm- with static frame "containing" other content done. I dont want to repeat the header and footer logic in every 'content section' code?
b) how is the hyperlinking between content sections done- using 'states' seems convoluted
I have built a couple of sites in Flash, however, I have a problem with a current site I'm working on. My client wants various photos to fade out in a "checkerboard" fashion, which I am doing via its own movie clip and adding in the appropriate area on the main timeline. However, when I add a blank keyframe on the following page to add a new movie clip (with the next set of pictures, the timeline starts playing through the entire website, not recognizing stop actions or frame labels.
