I have a test site up here and as you can see, the Flash movie plays fine. But when you navigate to an inside page it does not. The flash movie has an action in the native file that references an xml file to list the images. So why wouldn't the inside pages do the same?

View 6 RepliesI am using flash website template and editing with Flash CS4 and Dreamweaver. There are subwindows that open when clicking on menu buttons that have dynamic text elements. I am trying to change the text in these windows.I changed the names of the menu items that open these windows but the dynamic text is still displaying the old menu names as well as a numbering system(I.E. Services #1, Services#2, etc..) . I've looked through the content.xml, index.html, and of course the main.fla, How do I change the text displayed in these dynamic text elements?
View 4 RepliesI don't know why this is so difficult, but I'm unable to embed a swf generated in flash into a dreamweaver template. I can finally create a few basic animations and want to test them out in the dreamweaver envoirment. What is the simplest path to accomplishing this? For example if I open flash, create a simple animation, like a ball moving across the screen. If I save that SWF, what's the next step after opening dreamweaver. I just want to be able to test it the site with dreamweaver or see it "live".

I have been to the 'get URL Function', but it says something about needing to link to a web page? But my problem is how can I link Flash Buttons to a web page, when my site is still being developed and not published? Do I have to publish first?

I'm very new to flash and as3 design patterns. But I can read and write as3 quite ok, i've created small widgets with that. I've developed several web sites using php and also python.
Now for a educational cd-rom project i'm working on, i've basically designed all templates (A home page, a generic page with navigation and a sidebar - kind of like a wordpress blog). I have all the data for the cdrom on word files, which i intend to place on xml files.
My question is what is the best way to start a project like this? Can anyone guide me to a template or something that can be used for kickstarting this? kind of like a wordpress (without the admin)? Or am i on this all wrong?
I am using a nested template by following the normal practice of creating a template, which I will call "core" and then creating a page from that template and saving it as a "nested" template. So far so good, except, when I update the "core" template, it only updates the .dwt template files that I created from the core template. It doesn't update any of my content pages that were created from the "nested" templates, that were of course based on the core template. I can go into each nested template and then it updates the corresponding pages, but it just seems like updating the core should do all associated nested templates. Is this the way it is supposed to work?

View 1 RepliesSuppose you have a view, which contains three control A, B and C. The control A and B are in a HGroup, which itself is inside a VGroup with C.
Based on user interaction, I'd like to re-arrange the controls to new layouts. For example all three inside a VGroup. Or for example a layout, which hides A and B and maximizes C in size.
While I could hand-write the code, I'd like to use something like a layout template. A template, which contains placeholders for A, B and C. Give the current view, I'd like to pass the new template and the view should rearrange.
If you make multiple flash files from the same template and then edit that template, will all those files have those same changes? If not, is there a way to make the same change on multiple files at once? Basically the same idea as linking HTML files to a single CSS file...
View 1 RepliesI'm using a Coldfusion Dreamweaver template with cfinclude tags. The header contains a flash movie where I'd like to pass 2 variables via a query string to load the correct image and menu button based on the variables in the ActionScript.
Example: <param name="movie" value="flash/header_v8.swf?pic=1&button=1" />
pic variable can be 1 - 3 and button variable can be 1 - 7 depending on the each pages body element id. So the logic would be something like this for my flash movie:
if body id =home, then pic=1 and button=1
if body id =about, then pic=current variable and button=2
if body id =page3, then pic=1 variable and button=3

i'm working on a game project and i got some trouble with displaying stuff in the game Launcher. everything is in AS3. I'm actually looking to achieve almost the same results as the World of Warcraft launcher with a news section. the way i think to work it is that i create either a textArea component or a textfield and display html page in it. This html page could contain text, image and flash SWF.
but here's the problem, textField and textArea component are very limited in displaying and formating HTML pages. So i don't know if i should continue to search and try developping this way or find another way for displaying dynamic stuff that can be easily updated.

Go into project explorer and can't see much AS so how the hwll are they getting the images and text into the flash swf. By the html??? I don't think so.

I have a flex app that used to be an internet based app. In it I have a function that creates tooltip error messages when I tell it to create an error message. I pulled this app out verbatim to a desktop app and restructured things a bit to get it to run, but I did not mess with the core fundamentals of the mxml file that utilizes this aside from changing the root tag from a type of 's:Group' to 's:Window'. Everything runs correctly, but the tooltips are not displaying.
Here's the tooltip code (inline mxml code in the fx:script cdata tag):

Basically, I pass the function a string and an object (text input, checkbox, button, etc...etc...) and it positions it and displays the error message. This fully works in my web version, but not in my desktop version.

On a side note, I check to see if the errorTip exists at the beginning of the function and then destroy it so that the higher scoped variable 'errorTip' always equals the reference to the currently displayed error. This allows me to just destroy that error tip on form validation and then error check again, but it only allows one tooltip to be displayed at a time. Is there a better way to query the tooltip manager for all of it's currently displayed tooltips and destroy them all?
how I would go about to accomplish the following:
There should be 3 dropdown menus with predefined words
1. First menu has 3 predefined options
2. The second dropdown has 5 options.
3. The third dropdown has 3 options
--> Depending on which word is selected in dropdown #2, an img (of a total of 5 possibilities) is being displayed

Although the platform is free to use, but not open source yet. This causes a few problems because the API section works with .com sites for eg. for ebay, so I cannot visualize ebay listings for regional sites such as ebay.in because the link to ebay.com is hardcoded.I searched around, but didn't find other projects that offer a similar way to work with site APIs and other data sources with the kind of user interface and detail that impure.com does in a realtime way within a browser window.This brings me to the questions:

CS3 on a 2.4 ghz intel core 2 duo Mac running OS X 10.5.8.I have been able to create my webpages and upload them to the host. They are viewable, linkable etc. Everything is working, but now I want to include some flash elements.I built a flash file in action script 3.0 and saved it in the files folder of Dreamweaver, I dragged and dropped the swf file into the design screen and saved it. I have uploaded the html file, the swf and fla files and the created js file to the host server, but the flash element does not appear on the page when I view it in the browser.
