Professional :: Query String Variable Based On Coldfusion Template Body Element Id

Jan 25, 2010

I'm using a Coldfusion Dreamweaver template with cfinclude tags.  The header contains a flash movie where I'd like to pass 2 variables via a query string to load the correct image and menu button based on the variables in the ActionScript.

Example:  <param name="movie" value="flash/header_v8.swf?pic=1&button=1" />

pic variable can be 1 - 3 and button variable can be 1 - 7  depending on the each pages body element id.  So the logic would be something like this for my flash movie:

if body id =home, then pic=1 and button=1
if body id =about, then pic=current variable and button=2
if body id =page3, then pic=1 variable and button=3

[Code].....

What's the best way to pass these variables depending on the current page body element id?

Flash :: Create Cookie Through Flex / Coldfusion That Is Readable By Another Template?

Feb 4, 2010

Inside a flex app, I have a user login. The login calls a ColdFusion function as a remote object which authenticates the user and, if applicable, returns their id and access level. This works fine, but now I'm at the point where I want to also create a cookie for another ColdFusion template (called from fileReference.upload()) to be able to access later. I have tried several different methods for creating the cookie -- cfcookie, creating a cookie with JavaScript inside the ColdFusion function, and creating the cookie with JavaScript with an external interface once the coldfusion function returns to the flex result handler. All of these have been tried with a plethora of options regarding expiration, path, and domain tags.

Actionscript 3 :: Kick Start Template Based Flash Website?

Apr 28, 2010

I'm very new to flash and as3 design patterns. But I can read and write as3 quite ok, i've created small widgets with that. I've developed several web sites using php and also python.

Now for a educational cd-rom project i'm working on, i've basically designed all templates (A home page, a generic page with navigation and a sidebar - kind of like a wordpress blog). I have all the data for the cdrom on word files, which i intend to place on xml files.

My question is what is the best way to start a project like this? Can anyone guide me to a template or something that can be used for kickstarting this? kind of like a wordpress (without the admin)? Or am i on this all wrong?

Getting Query String Into Flash CS3

Apr 16, 2009

I've looked up quite a few tutorials, how-to's, etc. on how to pass a query string into my SWF, but it isn't working. The page where the SWF resides is an ASPX page, and this is the code I used:

Code:
Select all <object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="[URL]"
width="756" height="433" id="gallery" align="middle">
<param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain" />
<param name="allowFullScreen" value="false" />
<param name="movie" value="gallery.swf?ProjID=<%=Request.QueryString["ProjID"]%>" />
<param name="quality" value="high" />
[Code] .....

As you can see, it pulls the "ProjID" querystring and is supposed to pass it into Flash. I have executed the page and viewed the source to make sure it is pulling the querystring appropriately, as shown below:
Code:
Select all<object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="[URL]"
width="756" height="433" id="gallery" align="middle">
<param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain" />
<param name="allowFullScreen" value="false" />
<param name="movie" value="gallery.swf?ProjID=1" />
[Code] .....

I used "1" for the value, and "1" was what is in the page source, so I know it's at least getting that far. As for what is in the ActionScript, here it is:
Code:
Select allvar myProj = root.loaderInfo.parameters.ProjID;
var myGalleryXML2 = new XML();
myGalleryXML2.ignoreWhite = true;
myGalleryXML2.load("[URL]"+myProj);
myGalleryXML2.onLoad = function(success) {
if(success){
_root.myImages = myGalleryXML2.firstChild.childNodes;
_root.myImagesTotal = myImages.length;

It is supposed to load XML from an ASPX page that builds the XML from a database depending on the project ID (ProjID). If I hardcode the variable to "1" (or whatever other ProjID), it works and the correct images are shown for the respective ID. However, I can not get it to pass the ID from the URL to the Flash file. I've even tried "_root.ProjID", and a QueryString class I found through Google, as well as passing the ProjID through Param tags as FlashVars with no luck.

Actionscript :: Arranging Controls Based On Template Layouts In Flex Apps

Jul 17, 2011

Suppose you have a view, which contains three control A, B and C. The control A and B are in a HGroup, which itself is inside a VGroup with C.

Based on user interaction, I'd like to re-arrange the controls to new layouts. For example all three inside a VGroup. Or for example a layout, which hides A and B and maximizes C in size.

While I could hand-write the code, I'd like to use something like a layout template. A template, which contains placeholders for A, B and C. Give the current view, I'd like to pass the new template and the view should rearrange.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Controlling SWF Using A Query String?

Apr 2, 2010

I have a form that sends data to a results page. I would like the results to manipulate a SWF file through the actionscripts.

EXAMPLE:
Form uses 3 radio button submissions.
Upon SUBMIT it sends data to results page creating a string seen below
Results page receives data (form_record.php?Q1=Q1D&Q2=Q2D&Q3=Q3A)
Results page houses SWF
SWF uses the string to control the action of the Flash.

Can be a simple as if "Q1=Q1D&Q2=Q2D&Q3=Q3A" is recognized it does a gotoAndPlay

PHP :: How To Send String From AS3 For Database Query

I want to do a query with the name any item of the Tilelist when its clicked, so i need to send the name of that item to a PHP file that will execute the query. I am thinking of a function that loads the item name to a variable when the item is clicked. How can I send it to the PHP file and how would I load it to the query? The query I want on the php file goes something like this: Select lat, lon from mapdata where name=theVariable;

Asp.net - SWF Being Cached Even With Unique Query String?

Mar 30, 2012

When we reference a SWF file from our ASP.NET page we append the version number to the SWF url, like App.swf?1.1.0.0. In a recent update, Firefox has continued to use a cached swf even when the version number changed, App.swf?1.2.0.0. We haven't noticed this behavior in other browsers.

Has anyone else seen this behavior? We don't want to disable caching completely. At this point we're probably going to change the name of the swf for each version, like App.1.2.0.0.swf, which seems a bit excessive.
