writing actionScript code. I'm not an actionScript developer and have been trying to get this to work for hours.The requirement is a script that receives a parameter via javascript. The parameter is a url for a remote html web page.The script needs to load the contents of that html page into a string variable and then call a javascript function passing it the html as parameter.
i am building the results screen of a quiz and for some reason, my traces to these arrays are showing as undefined. Here is the code on the Results frame....
i Need to make sure that the Flash movie stops requesting the XML file once it has it. when a part of the xml is not defined it keeps requesting the xml file. i need it to cycle through but when something is undefined to stop trying to read the xml for the text or picture. so when i leave the home page open too long it kills the browser memory and crashes it.
Occasionally I listen to online audio from a variety of sources with no problem. ccasionally when I try to do that I get a message (or a button) to download Flash 8.0.0. I have done that several times. Once the app is installed (as far as I know it is), I may then click on that audio file and up comes that same message/button again to d/l Flash 8.0.0. If I try to find Flash on my system, it is somehow not clear to me what I've found.
Let me try right now and see what comes up (I'll summarize): Using Spotlight my "Top Hit" says "Adobe Flash Player Install Manager." When I open that it gives me choices of Quit or Uninstall, but no version number. And if Flash 8 or later is indeed installed, how do I know where it is? (It may indeed be a plug-in somewhere but?) I also have here and there about 6 or 7 Flash-labeled folders. One for example in Applications/Adobe Extension Manager CS4/Samples. One more in my Library/Preferences/Macromedia folder (though I use no Macromedia apps). Now let me check my plug-ins for (latest) Safari: There's a Shockwave Flash. There is this: "Verified Download Plugin from file VerifiedDownloadPlugin.plugin, but no further info. I also have Click to Flash 1.5.5.
via an SWF file, what request type would "http://url-to-my/json.script" receive. It doesn't seem to be a "xmlhttprequest". Is it the same as a request from a browser?
my flash application requests an xml information in a php site.... How would I monitor if my flash application is still requesting a data or not? because sometimes my application stops requesting
Looking for a tutorial to make individual pages (jpg or gif) into swf pages so we can add links in an on-line flip book. I have flash, but have not learned as of yet.
I am changing the flashvars variables v1=value&v2=value ect then after the flash movie runs I am changing the variables externally by javascript, so far so good.when flash first loads it reads the vars correctly.when I try to read them ( after the change ) it keeps reading the old values.[code]everything works except I cannot seem to read the changed FlashVars.
How would I set about loading an xml data file inside an AS3 application for iphone? Will there be a cross-domain issue for requesting data files from the device?
developing an e-card system in AC2. The system mainly consists of two flash movies and is supported by PHP scripts and a mysql database for data storage.The first part is the create/edit screen where the users can upload a photo, mask any desired area and apply some simple transformations such as size, rotation, brightness. They can also select a card (an animated flash movie) and preview the animation and finally type a message for the recipient.The other part is the result screen where the finalised card is presented and the user can then email a link to it to other people or grab some code to embed it on another site. The link will point exactly to this page. An example of the embed code is the following:
I would like to know how to track my pages with google analytics to see which pages are getting the most clicks. My site is XML / Flash the menu is xml. Could I put the tracking code on each of the menu items in the xml file?
If you haven't met me yet, that's because I'm pretty new around here. I picked up ActionScript just earlier this week, actually. Name's Kate. Nice to meet you. All righty. I'll start by saying that I've been referencing this thread:
actionscript.org/forums/showthread.php3?t=222486 (I'm not allowed to post URLs until I've got at least 50 posts in?! Gasp.)
I'm trying out a page-flip program that tells me to create the pages as jpegs within a folder named "pages" in the Library. When I try to run it, it tells me it can't find the jpegs. I can get it to work locally by including the full URL (i.e., "...My Documentsedinnerpartiesimagesp3-large.jpg), but I know this isn't embedded in the swf file.
I am doing an Actionscript 3.0 project which involves introspection. I am wondering if there is a way to get all the classes within a given package structure.
I have created a website with one flash animation banner.The banner .swf has 5 menus. Each menu goes to different movieclips inside the .swf file. and at the same time i want to load the corresponding html file when i click the menu button and place the html content into the bottom area of the main html page without refreshing the html page.
create a class that delivers the a text format to a requesting class. Unfortunately, even though when I trace the return it comes back with [object TextFormat], I do not see the results of the formatting. Heres [part of the clas trying to use the txtformatting class:
ActionScript Code: private function buildTF(msg:String = null):void { with (_tfield) { alpha = 1;
I built this simple form basically following a template.Everything is working fine but I'm not receiving any results. write the code so that the results will be sent to my email adress .(My site is hosted by FatCow).

would go about setting up flash to display results returned by a SQL query one at a time.I can work out the query and PHP, but want I want to know is how to make flash take each one and animate it, including pausing and clearing the screen when full, then continuing on a 'new' screen. It's basically for displaying a list of events in a database.
I have been looking for a tutorial that shows or explains how to display the contents of a search engine like 'Google' or 'Youtube' inside Flash. No luck so far...
I am working in Flash 8 and using AS 2.0 coding. I am working with page flipping application. Here I have an option "search". I will tell you the scenario. Here I am loading images/pages dynamically thru an xml. It was loading and working like a page flipping. so far it was done. Now if you enter some text inside the search option and press the button, it has to search for all the loaded images/pages and has to display the resulted pages. How this functionality has to done. How to search the jpg's with a given string?
Nothing happens when i hit the send button can anyone tell why.... I just got off phone with web host provider and they do support asp and i do have the correct SMTP
I am kind of new to flash and I want my flash site to get the best results from search engines.So I found SWFOBJECT is this the way to go? Also how do I use it? Is there any learning videos out on the web.

Using Flash CS3, having issues getting flash to send quiz results to a LMS. Using the Flash quiz templates, exporting with SCORM 1.2 compliance. The LMS is able to track times attempted and if the lesson was complete or not, however the quiz results don't reach the LMS.
I think this can be resolved in the actionscript or the javascript that gets exported with the HTML file Apparently you can control the javascript functions with FScommands from actionscript Something like fscommand ("LMSSetValue","cmi.core.score.raw" + "," + integer); I don't know where in the actionscript this should be triggered from.
Basically an array if fed to callThumbs() which iterates through it and compares the entries with preloaded XML _my_images. If match is found, it's sent to processXML which loads all relevant info and loads a .jpg thumbnail. All this is then fed to createCell which creates a specific cell with position values depending on x_counter and y_counter values (4 cells in a row) and adds the cell into a container _container_mc.
The Problem: This all works fine and looks fine, the problem is that the cells within the container do not display in descending order. They are in random order, probably because some of the .jpg's takes longer to load etc. How do I easily organise the cells within the container in descending order by the XML .id value? Or how do I tell Flash to wait till the thumbnail and data is loaded and the cell created and added?
//Flash (AS3) function callThumbs(_my_results:Array):void { // selector = 1 for specific items, 2 for search items var _thumb_url:XML;
I've made a query in PHP, and I'm trying to send the results back into Flash via AS3, but it's throwing up this error...
Error: Error #2101: The String passed to URLVariables.decode() must be a URL-encoded query string containing name/value pairs. at Error$/throwError() at flash.net::URLVariables/decode() at flash.net::URLVariables() at flash.net::URLLoader/onComplete()
Here is the relevant part of the PHP and AS3 code, including the query. The Flash variable rssAdd is passed over to the PHP which is using it in the PHP query accordingly. $url = $_POST['rssAdd']; $query= SELECT title FROM Feed WHERE category = (SELECT category FROM Feed WHERE url =$url) AND url!=$url; $result = mysql_query($query); echo $query;
Here is the AS3 code I've done so far. function recommendation(){ var request:URLRequest = new URLRequest("url"); request.method = URLRequestMethod.POST var recVars:URLVariables = new URLVariables(); [Code] .....
I've got a suite of unit tests for my project (pure AS3), and they all work brilliantly outputting standard JUnit XML to the trace output window. However, when I tried to get my test suite running on our continuous integration server I ran up against a wall.Flash is a sandboxed beast, isolated from the file system. I can't see an intuitive way to get this generated JUnit XML in to our CI software so it can be verified as passing.
I've taken a shot at implementing the approach shown in Continuous Integration with Flex,but it relies on reading trace output logged to flashlog.txt that is prone to failure on many fronts (debug player must be installed, flashlog.txt must be created, mm.cfg file must be configured properly). Also, I find that some of the time it fails to find the results in the flashlog and the build fails despite all the tests passing. This could be because I have too many tests and some are being pushed out of the log file.
