ActionScript 2.0 :: Results Screen Of Quiz Not Reading Arrays On Frame 1
Dec 15, 2006
i am building the results screen of a quiz and for some reason, my traces to these arrays are showing as undefined. Here is the code on the Results frame....
I have a little quiz, where at the end the results are calculated and the test takers are taken to a results screen which calculates their results.
I have AS3 code creating the message screen, and the score is calculating ok. I want to capture the users name on the results page, and this is not working. I have attached the code which calculates the score and where I added the instance name of the test box when they login. I get an error when I publish. The error is "Access of undefined property name name_text"
obviously this is not how to capture that information, but not sure how to do it. Again, I have a text box with the instance name of "name_txt", and I am trying to capture that data on a results screen using AS3.
Code: feedback.text = "Congrats" +name_txt+ "on finishing the exam! Your score is "+Math.round(score*100)+"% You may now close the exam window.";
Using Flash CS3, having issues getting flash to send quiz results to a LMS. Using the Flash quiz templates, exporting with SCORM 1.2 compliance. The LMS is able to track times attempted and if the lesson was complete or not, however the quiz results don't reach the LMS.
I think this can be resolved in the actionscript or the javascript that gets exported with the HTML file Apparently you can control the javascript functions with FScommands from actionscript Something like fscommand ("LMSSetValue","cmi.core.score.raw" + "," + integer); I don't know where in the actionscript this should be triggered from.
I have developed a number of Maths Question generators using random numbers. Students are able to input answers and see that they are correct. I would like to progress to the stage of storing student results on my website server (Actionscript 2.0 - with CS4)I am not sure where to start with this and I was hoping for suggestions on the direction I should take to be able to do this.
i am wanting to creat a small quiz that runs from xml which pulls questions from a database, then submits the results to the mysql database upon completion.
I am creating an interactive cd which basically runs a blank projector which then loads in various swf files from fscommand folder as and when required.
Part of the CD is a quiz - created using one of the standard flash templates. When this is loaded into the main projector as a swf file it runs perfectly until it gets to the "results page" - at this point it returns the blank templates e.g Answered = 0.
If you play the swf file on it's own it works fine. If you play the file as a projector on it's own it works fine too.
The problem only occurs when it is loaded into the main projector on a level above the root.
I had an existing client ask me about the possibility of building an online quiz. I am fairly adept at working "inside" Flash, but always run into problems when trying to export data "from" Flash anywhere else. I am also trying to figure out if Flash is the best application to build this quiz (I see other possible apps like Captivate, but don't know if they are necessary for what I am trying to do).
What I need to do: I need to create a Login screen to attach the final text score to an individual. Create (50) separate screens for 50 questions with multiple answers for each (simple enough) with submit buttons once the answer(s) are chosen.
Each time an answer is submitted it has a certain "weight" toward the total score (which I am guessing that I could track into a variable inside Flash?) When the test is complete all I need to do is send that Person's Name/Total Score to a database. Is this something best accomplished using Flash?
I am working on an eLearning lesson that needs to score quiz results using a statistical formula called a probit function. There are formulas in many languages (VB, C++, etc.) for the probit function, but not in AS3. The closest I can find is in JavaScript.
I am fairly new to AS3 so I am having a go at creating my own game of Who Wants to be a Millionaire?, thought a quiz game of sorts may be simplish. Right now, I am having trouble working out how to load shuffled questions. This is the code I have so far[code]...
I am currently working on the 'Flash.utils.ByteArrays' and I am using writeobject() and readobject() to write and read byte Array objects. I also understand that, the objects are serialized and de-serialized as byte arrays through AMF formatting.
Since I am trying to write the object to a device(credit card reader) that doesn't supports AMF, I was wondering if there is any other way where I can still use the writeobject() and readobject() methods but can control the creation or reading through other 'byte array ' serializing and de-serializing format options if any.
Im writing an IOS game using AS3. Here's the problem- I have an image on the screen that moves around. When the image's y value goes negative (the image is partly off the screen), the frame rates bottom out. I've gone over my code pretty thoroughly, even threw together a few test projects just to experiment. In all the test I do, whenever there is an object that is off screen, even partially, the frame rates drop. It's making scrolling backgrounds impossible. BTW, I'm using Packager for iPhone and a 3G (not 3GS). Frame rates are normally 24 with no problems
Anyone know where to start thinking about logic for an XML quiz with multiple correct answers, that when the user gets the question right, that question is removed from the random array of questions so we never need to answer it again?
I have a video in a movieclip on my timeline. On the first frame, I have the stop(); command. I want to be able to hit the SPACEBAR: which results in pausing the movieclip and jumping to frame 2 on the timeline.
I am tryin' to emulate simple button functionality and methodology.To finish, i need to emulate 'hit' framelabel, where everything you put inside will be that frame will be the active zone of all button states.But i don't know how to read that framelabel, if button is not at that framelabel.Why button is not at that framelabel?, 'cause button is either at 'up', "over", "down" framelabels, 'hit' label is and actually never played framelabel, but i need to read it once so that i can to replicate its contents to all other framelabels.I'm aware i could just use a display object with an 'hit' instance name throughtout button's timeline.But what i am trying is to, it's to emulate 'simple button' methodology as i stated
explain why the lines drawn between the circles in the code below are not aligned with the centre of the circles? It seems the x and y properties of the circles are not up to date with their actual positions but how can this be?
import flash.display.Sprite import fl.transitions.*; import fl.transitions.easing.*; var mcs=[];
I've been following the book "Beggining Flash Programing for Dummies" and I have come up to a part where I create a very simple game. The script involved in the frames are FRAME here:
I am changing the flashvars variables v1=value&v2=value ect then after the flash movie runs I am changing the variables externally by javascript, so far so good.when flash first loads it reads the vars correctly.when I try to read them ( after the change ) it keeps reading the old values.[code]everything works except I cannot seem to read the changed FlashVars.
I have movie clip in an array (newStep) that is being added to the stage dynamically. It's randomly choosing a frame to go to every time an instance is added. There is a nested movie clip (stepLine) that i need to change the alpha of. This code actually works for adding a string to to the dynamic text box (pointsDText) but when i try to access the nested movie clip (stepLine) it gives me 1009 null object reference error. The funny thing is the code actually works and does change the alpha of the movie clip but i still get that error, and i think it's making my game more glitchy. I've tried using if(contains(steps[r].stepLine)) too but it doesn't work. Is there a better way to access this movie clip without getting the error?
I am doing an Actionscript 3.0 project which involves introspection. I am wondering if there is a way to get all the classes within a given package structure.
I am running into some trouble adding an array into another array to create a multi-dimensional array.The code appears as below:
var slideDataArray:Array = new Array(); var slideShowDataArray:Array = new Array(); slideDataArray[0] = xmlData.SlideShowParameters.SlideShowImagesDirectory;[code]........
I am looking for a means of placing the slideDataArray into a 'slot' or value of slideShowDataArray so that I can in the end pass the slideShowDataArray as a parameter to another function.As of now, the last slideDataArray appears 11 times (the loop runs 11 times) in slideShowDataArray and the way the code is written the slideDataArray is unique every iteration of the loop.
I have a generative art app, and I'd like it to draw as many cycles as possible each frame without reducing the framerate. Is there a way to tell how much time is left until the screen updates/refreshes?I figure if I can approximate how many milliseconds each cycle takes, then I can run cycles until the amount of time left is less than the average or the peak cycle time, then let the screen refresh, then run another set of cycles.
In my .fla file, I have a text box instantiated as _text. The following code works good: my timer comes up and counts off.I need to write a code into the first frame of my completion screen to stop the timer. What would that code be? and what do I need to add to the Main.as code below?At the end of my Main.as file, I have this code[code]
I was looking at making a site similar to this [URL]..The way the white frame scales into whatever the screen res is with no distortion and the center movie I have code to allow that to stay centered, but not sure how you restrict it from overlaying the frame thats on top of that.
Basically I was just seeing if anyone was able to replicate this exact movie, with out the graphics, and I can build the rest. If you need code that I have sourced already that is fine. I can send some of that.
I've got a bit that loads a big chunk of xml data about products.I push product info into an array(e.g. productArray), then add that array to another array (e.g. allProductsArray)How do I sort those arrays? For instance, if I want to sort the allProductsArray based on the info in productArray[0]?Alternatively, would something other tha an array of arrays be a better route?This loader loads the same sort of info for many different clients, so the bit to sort on will change.
I'm developing a game in as3 for iPhone, and I've gotten it running reasonably well (consistanty 24fps on iPhone 3G), but I've noticed that when the "character" goes partly off the screen, the frame rate drops to 10-12fps. Does anyone know why this is and what I can do to remedy it?
Update - Been through the code pretty thoroughly, even made a new project just to test animations. Started a image offscreen and moved it across the screen and back off. Any time the image is offscreen, even partially, the frame rates are terrible. Once the image is fully on the screen, things pick back up to a solid 24fps. I'm using cacheAsBitmap, I've tried masking the stage, I've tried placing the image in a movieclip and using scrollRect. I would keep objects from going off the screen, except that the nature of the game I'm working on has objects dropping from the top down (yes, I'm using object pooling. No, I'm not scaling anything. Striclt x,y translations).
