I'm building an rss reader in flash. I have the rss displaying with no problem, the problem is, I need each title to open the web page to a particular site.The link is the same for every header, so I assumed it wouldn't be that hard, but since I'm very new Flash and followed a tutorial to get this working[code]...

why when I place something on the stage it does not match up on the web page. Do I have to set the co-ordinates of the item for it to appear in the correct place on a web page.

Im trying to create an implied webpage link to twitter, facebook, you tube ect. I have buttons with the logo on it! However for my work i can not just link to a webpage as it all needs to be contained in the files i.e. on a computer that doesnt have an internet link! I was thinking of having the page as a swf that loads in on a seperate layer on top of the main site, which can then be closed via a exit link on the page!
However im not sure what script i would need to put on the Facebook button to crate it to load, and what script to put on the x to make the link close! Or am i even doing it the right way! Should i be some how enbeding the webpages in the the flash file?
Right now I have everything set up and linked correctly except when you click the button it opens up a new tab rather than just going straight to the suggested URLHere is the code I have now...

Now when I click on the title it show on the text area (logText) the description. Now what I want is to add a link behind the description. I have tried with .link but it shows the whole link tag and not clickable link to the page...

this is in an actionscript layer and works fine for the first set but when i try to use this same code for the other dropdown sections i get errors.i think it is because i an repeating the function but i cant get it to work without it either so i imagine i only need that function in the first set but i cant figure out how the other sets should look.
I made 4 short 2 minutes SWF "presentation movies" that I want to burn onto BizCard CDs and mail to clients and prospective clients. I created a menu with the four items to link tot he movies. I ASSUMED I would be able to do this but I cannot link from my four menu items to the movies. I have tried everything but I end up with looping or syntax errors.

Each slide I am trying to link to a web page but am getting the error; TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. at NLE_fla::MainTimeline/frame1() I'm sure it has to do with the link on the second slide not being found since the slide doesn't load right away. I have tried already with toggling visibility and 'gotoAndStop()' to make items appear over other items when the corresponding button is pressed, for example, when the user tries out different pants/shirts on their character.
I would like to use the selectionMode=multiple described in the Flex docs, but with a few modifications:
1) I would like the box that the user drags over the graph to remain there until the user drags a new one.
2) In the top right corner of the box I want to display the sum of the items selected by that box.

View 2 RepliesI'm creating a facebook application in flex. I'm actually working on the friends component that shows your friends who are using the application. now, each friend has a profile image.
I created the component using a s:List element.
In the Skin Class of the element i configured the requestedColumnCount to 3, which means it shows 3 friends. i added buttons to scroll left and right in the list.
Whenever I scroll to see a different friend, for a half of a second i see no image because the List component is loading the image in order to view it.
is there a way to make the list preload all the elements so i won't have this kind of problem ?
im having some dificulties in the combobox of Flex 3, after defining the dataProvider and filling the combobox, how can i remove the items in the combobox later (without removing items in the dataprovider)? if i set the provider to "" or null, the items in the combobox are still there

In my actionscript, it seems to only tell that event.items.length is 1, while I am calling my array collection from the HTTPService, and I have tested the length of my Array Collection, which seems to be accurate. What I tried to do is to use that number in the CollectionEvent function, but that does not work at all.

The page is for wedding videography, and came with a Videos section. However, I do not like the template video player, and would like to have the Videos link on the menu bar go straight to my youtube channel rather than to the flash player. Primarily all changes to the template have been made in a text.txt file, rather than the flash file itself. I have a datagrid with different types of columns, like I have checkboxes, combo boxes and text Inputs as the column types. Now I want one of the column type to a link, with the label "view". I didn't know how to bring a link in the datagrid. So used the Text control to display the "View" label. Now If I click this item, "View" in the datagrid, I want the Pop up function, i.e.,defectCommentsPopUp() to be called.

I have created a small application which takes it's information from an xml file and displayes it in a news ticker which is a flash Flash AS2 application. tell me the correct way to format the link tag in the xml if there is a standard when wanting to state a target for the link? The xml file currently looks like:

So what I want to do is to be able to open the link in a taget=_blank window however adding that to the end of the url does not currently work.I have added a comma and also tried using a space, space and encompassing in quotes but none are working.
