ActionScript 3.0 :: Avatar/character Creator - Items Appear Over Other Items When The Corresponding Button Is Pressed?
Feb 9, 2010
I have a project underway where I am making an interactive game. It is a personal character creator game and I need Actionscript 3 help with this.Something similar here:http:[url]....
I have tried already with toggling visibility and 'gotoAndStop()' to make items appear over other items when the corresponding button is pressed, for example, when the user tries out different pants/shirts on their character.
I need to create an avatar creator, the concept is simple. We have a base image for a head, on top of this we layer on other elements (eyes, nose, mouth), saving it converts the image on the flash widget into a .jpg. I'm confident in my ability to create the interface, I have basic knowledge of AS 3 and flash in general, but I'm unsure how to go about this. I want to pass a variable to flash to indicate who the user is who's editing his or her avatar. Then I want to pull some kind of db file to have the image re-construct itself in flash (maybe from an XML file - so it would need to create/update an xml file).
I am really new with flash and yet I needed to construct a simple one level game. What I have now is kinda similar to pacman but a bit different. 1) Lets say, like pacman, the user's character need to pick up things in the maze. but instead of the items are already there, i would like to have some already there and then when the user pass the path, some will randomly appear in the maze. e.g : like the fruits that will randomly appear in pacman. 2) How to make the bad character constantly chase the user's character throughout the game. only one bad character in this game chasing.
I'm creating a facebook application in flex. I'm actually working on the friends component that shows your friends who are using the application. now, each friend has a profile image.
I created the component using a s:List element.
In the Skin Class of the element i configured the requestedColumnCount to 3, which means it shows 3 friends. i added buttons to scroll left and right in the list.
Whenever I scroll to see a different friend, for a half of a second i see no image because the List component is loading the image in order to view it.
is there a way to make the list preload all the elements so i won't have this kind of problem ?
im having some dificulties in the combobox of Flex 3, after defining the dataProvider and filling the combobox, how can i remove the items in the combobox later (without removing items in the dataprovider)? if i set the provider to "" or null, the items in the combobox are still there
how to get my CollectionEvent to work, and I seem to be able to see the problem, but I am not sure how to get it to work properly.
In my actionscript, it seems to only tell that event.items.length is 1, while I am calling my array collection from the HTTPService, and I have tested the length of my Array Collection, which seems to be accurate. What I tried to do is to use that number in the CollectionEvent function, but that does not work at all.
Attach Code
private function onChange(event:CollectionEvent):void{ for (var i:int=0; i< event.items.length; i++) { Alert.show(event.items.length.toString()); //This always gives me 1 when I have 12 items
I have placed TextFileds inside TileList Compontent. When i try to select the TextField it can't show the selected Textfield in the TileList items by default the TileList items are selected.Finally i need to select the TextFields.
Here is my code:
import fl.controls.TileList; import fl.data.DataProvider; import flash.display.Sprite; import flash.events.Event; function TileListExample() { var dp:DataProvider = new DataProvider(); var totalEntries:uint = 3; var i:uint; for(i=0; i<totalEntries; i++) { dp.addItem( { source:getTf(), scaleContent:false}
In CS5, I want to have a frame with buttons that when clicked, reveal different graphic symbols or movie clips (I'm not sure what to use?). The symbols will reveal text information and graphics, and might fade in when clicked, though will not move or do anything else.
1. Is it better to make these text and graphcis into movie clips or graphic symbols?
2. How do they get hidden on the stage until a user clicks on a button to reveal it?
3. Using Code snippets, which option will make this work?
ok, same project i've been working on, new criteria. here's the summary of the project.we are making a digital catalog, in our print catalog we have diagrams but in the digital version i am using flash to link parts of those diagrams to the page with that merchandiseeverything is getting worked out ok.now i have been given some more requirements, myboss wants me to add an "add to cart" button so they can automatically add it to their cart instead of linking to our website and adding it there.
word1= Italy&word2= Napoleon&word3= GaribaldiAT the moment when the screen loads all the text appears in different dynamic text boxes. I would like to change it so that I can have a button and when you press it it will make the words appear one at a time in just one text box.( to play jeopardy)E.g. on 1st press it would make word1 appear, then if you continue pressing it the word2 and then word3 will appear in turn.
At the moment I load it like this loadText = new LoadVars(); loadText.load("Jeopardy words.txt");
Ok so I've been battling with this code for 2 days now. I simplified my post and deleted my other thread.Here goes
Code: //temp assuming DefaultValue1 is being passed to flash // which it will be if this was published[code].....
At this point I either need to figure this out or find another option.I need to display the 1st 6 items in my array and on press of the next button i need to display the next 6.
I have items stored in an array in a txt file. word1= Italy&word2= Napoleon&word3= Garibaldi
AT the moment when the screen loads all the text appears in different dynamic text boxes.
I would like to change it so that I can have a button and when you press it it will make the words appear one at a time in just one text box.( to play jeopardy)
E.g. on 1st press it would make word1 appear, then if you continue pressing it the word2 and then word3 will appear in turn.
At the moment I load it like this loadText = new LoadVars(); loadText.load("Jeopardy words.txt"); loadText.onLoad = function() {
I am trying to create a buttons menu with Array, and for some reason it only show the lastone on the list.
Here is my code (AS3): var nav1Items:Array = new Array("about", "work", "contact"); //Create text field var myFont:Font = new Calibri(); var myFormat:TextFormat = new TextFormat(); var label_txt:TextField = new TextField(); //Set text style [Code] .....
//I want to access the button "myButton1" here. How would I do that? the example below does not work myButton1.label = "something else" I have created a set of x number of buttons with the code above and added them to the stage. My question is now do I access the button again if I want to change something like the label?
I have an arrayCollection with the following structure:
[Code]...
the AC is defined as follows:[Bindable] private var projectErrorsAC:ArrayCollection = new ArrayCollection;
I'm using this AC in a repeater to display each error. After each error is shown, I've placed an "Accept" and "Deny" button. Once the user clicks either one of these buttons, I'd like to call a function that removes the particular error from the AC. Here's what I have so far:
_root.fadeBox_mc.onEnterFrame = function (){ if (fade){ this.nextFrame();[code]....
This causes a mc to fade in and out on rollover/rollout. But what I wanna make is a box that fades in when pressed on the button and fade out when pressed for the second time. But if I say
on (press){ _root.fade = true; }
the mc fades in, but I cant do another on (press) to fade out. Is this too confusing?
I can't use charCode, or keyCode in KeyboardEvent to find out the character pressed, because even if I change the keyboard layout, charCode and keyCode are not change (if press the same key).So, how to find the presssed character, following to the current keyboard layout?
The charCode property is the numeric value of that key in the current character set (the default character set is UTF-8, which supports ASCII).is not correct.
I am testing this script (in flash cs5 as2) on a simple character (a dot).The script implies that the character goes up when space bar is pressed down and that he will otherwise continue to fall due to the artificial gravity i have applied.My problem is that you can only click space bar once and make it go up and then after that it will fall and space bar wont work.the problemThis is the script.
Im trying to make my character attack, the attack animation is inside the character movie clip on frame 4. But i dont understand how to do it? I want him to attack once, if SPACE is pressed. I have tried this:
I only started yesterday with no knowledge at all.How do you make draggable items? I looked around and I saw things about actionscript and all that but what do you do?
am creating a little game... It is about selecting some items...If 2 right items are selected on frame 1, the "next" button will appear for the user to click on it to go to frame 2.
Say I create a symbol, and then another inside the symbol. In the library I now have 2 symbols. Is there a way to combine these into just one library item?
I am trying to load MC's from an array but I need to make it so that after ever 2 MC's the Yposition changes down say 300px so that I have a new line. I have tried using if(see at the bottom of this script.) bellow but it doen't work.[code]...
What I'm trying to do is, create 5 or 7 movie items in a list and when you click on any of the items the items in the front will move to the back of the list.sort of like selecting a specific cd in a jukebox.So when you click on the 3rd item the first one in the front fades and shows up in the back, than the second item fades and comes back in the back and the 3rd item is now in the front.I think I can do it to 1st item in the front by changing the stack order but not sure how I can make the first 2 items move to the back.
