Flash :: Facebook Chat Hides Apps When Open

While running a Flash app, if I open a new or existing Facebook chat window, my Flash content disappears. I can continue to hear music playing from the app and when I close/minimize the Facebook chat window, my Flash content reappears. Is this a known issue? This is happening in Google Chrome 15 and Internet Explorer 9 on Windows 7 with Flash Player 11.
I checked this on my own Flash app as well as on another Flash app made by someone else and the same behaviour is occurring. It does not however hide non-Flash content. It seems to be a bug with Facebook chat and Flash content.

Can Facebook apps be written in Flash CS3 or do I have to use Flex? I'm more comfortable with Flash, but it seems geared toward Flex.One of the Facebook SDK examples (FriendsList_flash) contains an FLA file but it won't load in Flash CS3. Does it require a new version or am I doing something wrong?

I have a task to make simple game that deployed as a facebook app using Adobe Flex. Like most facebook game, I need to show high score, compare score with friends and some other similar functionalities, which I think need some sort of database thing.
The problem is a had only little experience about database, only have tried simple things with MySQL and I don't know where to start.

Does anyone have any experience making Flash-based Facebook apps? I'm trying to make one but the event listeners don't seem to do anything. It works fine on its own but once I upload it to Facebook, it stops working.

I have been trying to develop flash based facebook apps. After reading a bit on methods (there are many) I went with zerofractals bridge component ... basically an external interface wrapper that manages calls to the javascript api. Well, its been frustrating for me... some calls go off into limbo and generate no result event.. it hangs on various calls, never on the same one... im just over it. So now i need to decide what to try next.
I have had a hard time finding good flash/facebook documentation. I would love to see a good working example. As it stands, in addition to the above api frustration, my app chooses not to ask the user for permission the first time they come and doesn't load at all. They have to hit refresh. Lots of little **** like this is bugging me.
Does anyone here have experience with this? I need something that is reliable. I was hesitant to use the adobe library because you have to compile your api key and secret in it. Now im thinking about giving it another look, I can always bring those strings at runtime in from a protected place I guess.

I'm playing a flash game on facebook. I know I can decompile it to find out all the commands and would like to make scripts to automate the game by calling procedures in the actionscript of the game. So I guess I would like to make a plugin also that would insert this console into any flash app and this would be handy for a lot of things. Then if anyone wants to hack a new game, u just decompile it and make a handbook of methods for people to make scripts with. So how would I go about making this console? I don't know if I could make a swf interact with the game or if it has to be compiled into the game's swf. Or if it is easier with javascript, that is cool too. maybe we can make a javascript library just for this. anyone can tell me more?

Or a word doc or XLS file in the native file viewer on iOS devices. navigateToURL does not seem to work. I have included a test.pdf file in the "included files" in my iOS settings but won't launch on the device.

I just wrote a P2P video chat similiar to the Cirrus example application on my web site. It works great, as long as both users manually open the ports required for RTMFP. Naturally this is a deal breaker for me - since no one will use it. What is the standard solution in this case? Should I publish the instructions of how to open the ports on different firewalls? Should I write a small batch file to be downloaded that programmatically opens the ports? Is there a different (commercial) tool that allows me to bypass it in any other way?

Reading "Building the realtime user experience" by Ted Roden, I was wondering how to go further and get some video chat web app up and running without the use of flash.
So, in terms of feasibility:
client-side: how can one access to cam and mic local streams not using flash ?
server-side: are there any existing frameworks or open source servers (something like red5) that focus on this kind of use cases ? If not, what do I need to build my own (lightweight) visio chat server ?

I am developing a game and using the official "Adobe AS3 SDK for Facebook platform" libraries to connect it to facebook.In the libraries, you have two options for connecting to facebook, via the Facebook.as, and the FacebookDesktop.as.The Facebook.as is meant for Facebook Canvas and Web deployment, and it assumes the Facebook Javascript to be embedded in the page that has your .SWF.
However as we all know, games are frequently redistributed, just by taking the .SWF and posting it elsewhere, where most likely it wont have the Facebook Javascript embedded in the page.My question is, that in these situatins, is it a good idea to use the FacebookDesktop.as instead? IE detect the URL, and if we are on 3rd party Website, then use the FacebookDesktop.init() etc methods instead of the Facebook.init() ones?
What do you think? Are there any big disadvantages or a better way of doing it?

I just got my MacBook and am trying out the Flash BUilder on said platform. I've installed Firefox and Google Chrome on my MacBook but I can't seem to find a way to set which browser would launch my Flex apps whenever I hit the Run button inside Flash Builder. As far as I know, I can locate the Browser property on the Project Properties on my Windows copy of Flash Builder but I couldn't over here at my Mac. Any thoughts?

I'm currently building an application using the Adobe Facebook API and I've run into an issue where for the login method the Facebook login popup displays but when doing a Facebook share/post the popup is blocked.
This code works fine and displays me a Facebook login popup without question (Firefox):

Facebook.login( onFacebookLogin, { perms:permissions.join(',') } );
However, the following code running in the same application throws up a popup blocker (again Firefox):
Facebook.ui( "stream.publish", "popup", params );
Does anyone know of a work around this issue to make the share popup come up just like the login popup?

I have a swf file (as3) that is in a header of a page. When I run the page the content below it is hidden. It's in the source code but the browser doesn't display it. If I put the swf below the content everything shows up fine. It does this in both chrome and IE. If I take out the swf from the header all of the content shows up fine also.

We have a Flex application which is build against the 3.3 SDK. It has been in production for more than a year without any problems, till yesterday. We got a bug report yesterday that some content is invisible which prevents the user from completing an assignment. I looked into the problem and I have narrowed it down to Flash Player 11. Unfortunately it got me no closer to solving the problem.The part of the application that is giving problems is a separate .SWC which is loaded in a SWFLoader object. This is placed on a Canvas which in turn is shown to the user via the PopupManager.This is what it looks like when I view it in FireFox 10.0.2 with Flash Player 10,0,45,2 (click for image).
And this is what it looks like when I view it with Flash Player 11,1,102,62 in Chrome 17.0.963.56 (click for image)As you can see I am missing the checkboxes, two buttons and the checkpoint in the middle. The checkpoints drops in from the top of the screen and sometimes you can see parts of it. It looks like there is something invisible on top of this. In the Flash Player 11 version I am able to click on the checkboxes that are invisible and this does trigger the expected behavior so I know the mouse clicks are handles properly. Same goes for the buttons 'Vorige' (previous) and 'Volgende' (next), even though you can't see them I can still navigate between states.I have check if disabling the hard acceleration in Flash Player 11 made a difference but unfortunately it didn't. I also thought it could be the preloader that is blocking out part of the screen but the position seems all wrong and I am not having any problems with other external .SWC files that are presented to the user.

actually i have an image gallery in a seperate HTML page, I want to embed it into the main html page containing the menu, but even after using the code <param name="wmode" value="transparent"> or <param name="wmode" value="opaque"> the submenu is still hiding behind the flash. I also tried by changing z-index values, still didn't work.

You can create a account You can login with your username and password. You can post comments. You can read all posted comments from your self and from your friends. What is not done with this project? It needs an accept friendship button where new friends rerquest was sent. It needs to read any new request from any new friends. it needs a decline button where the new friend request was sent if your does not wish to have this friend. It needs a comment delete button where this username and this comment. set only for the user who posted the comment. so not just any one can delete anyones comment.

i want to create a chat app using flex 4.5 mobile project for android device. For the chat screen, i wanted it to look glossy and stylish. Hence i thought i would use the list component and disable the selection in it. I m able to add the chat messages into the list. But i doubt if large chat data might hinder the performance. Im using a collection and i ve binded it with the list. Whenever i receive a chat i update the collection and it gets displayed in the list. Can someone tell me if his could pose a performance problem as list component is not intended for this purpose.

I'm trying to determine the practical difference between using the com.facebook.session.WebSession and com.facebook.session.JSSession. The documentation ([URL]) has more around WebSession - but the example I have which is closest to what solution I'm trying to implement uses JSSession and it looks like I could avoid all of the JavaScript pass-through & ExternalInterface calls I'm making. It appears that the benefit of using this new ActionScript Facebook API is to avoid having to make all of the Facebook calls via JavaScript.

I have a facebook application where the user choose 4 of his friends and then it creates a video (swf) with the pictures of your friends in it (loaded via xml). So I need to share this video on the user timeline. Everything works fine but the video is not embedded in the post on his timeline, there is only a post with the link to the page in it.The weird thing is, if I post the url directly on my timeline, the video is embedded, but not if the same link is posted via the application.here is my code called by the share button in js :

I've recently used the 'Static HTML' application to add autoplaying flash content to a Facebook Page.Nothing too fancy, no sound, and only a few secs long. Now, Facebook say:-"Apps on Pages must not host media that plays automatically without a user's interaction."
What do they mean by 'Media' exactly? I can understand a ban on autoplaying audio content but does the ban extend to something as harmless as an animated GIF? Or more to the point, does an autoplaying .swf file fall under this?
Lastly, what course of action would Facebook take if I did violate this rule? Would they issue a warning (giving me an opportunity to remove the 'offending' item) or would they just shut down my page without any consultation?

I have tried several navigation scripts and z-index all over the place but no matter what I try the sub-folders of my navigation on my homepage always gets hidden by the slideshow. I have a portfolio gallery that I can browse. I click on a thumb and it opens an image. Then, if I want, I can "zoom it", by loading a larger image, that is not necessary equal.At the first time I "zoom" an image it all looks fine. I create a black rectangle, a loader and add them to stage covering everything.When I'm done seeing the image, I click on any off them and supposelly they are removed. They even desappear from stage.
But when I try again with a diferent image the same code, it actually loads the previous image and square, plus the nem desired items.This errors increments everytime I click and zoom. All of the previous appear and I have to close them again.
