I have tried several navigation scripts and z-index all over the place but no matter what I try the sub-folders of my navigation on my homepage always gets hidden by the slideshow. View 3 RepliesI have a M4V video file embedded in a Flash movie, and I need to play the Flash movie at full screen using the Macintosh Projector format. When the Flash file is done in Actionscript 2, everything appears as it should, but if the Flash file is done in Actionscript 3 (which this particular needs, since it uses armatures), then the video fills up the whole screen and hides everything else. I figured out how to prevent the video from scaling to fit the screen (set the scaleMode parameter to "noScale"), but it still shows the video in the center of a black screen. How can I get it to stop messing with the file and just play the @#$! video where I put it?
View 7 RepliesI followed a tutorial to build a click-thru photo gallery that is linked to an XML file. The tutorial set up the navigation as being controlled by clicking the images, but I wanted to add some more obvious navigation prompts for viewers on my website. The "next" button was easy to do as I just copied the actions for clicking the images on the main section of the stage, but when it came to building the "previous" button, the code was not working. I want the button to take the audience to the image before the image they are on when clicked.
I've pasted what I have below and highlighted the sections that I have altered. If you could please tell me what I'm doing wrong, that would be great.

- Add the next page to stage using addChild (out of view)
- Tween the current page out of view, tween the next page into view
- Remove the old page using removeChild.
The reasoning for this is I will have a large amount of pages with heavy animation and I'm trying to avoid having them all present on stage at once to prevent a drop in FPS.
Here is my code so far. I've tried a few things such as trying to re-set currentPage with the array but have had no luck. Been pulling my hair out for a few hours now!

I'm making an xml slideshow width 2 navigation arrows. I have loaded either the xml and the images. The problem is this: in the first frame i have a movieclip called "foto1" in which i load the first photo and underneath this i have another movieclip called "foto3". I load the two photos and i fade "foto1" to "foto3". after i'm going to the second frame in wich i have "foto3" and underneath this "foto1". I've loaded "foto3" but when the movie go to the second frame "foto3" contains nothing.

My issue is the first time everything works perfectly, if you hit next or previous. It goes to the correct frame. On the last frame if you click next it should take you back to "frame 1" and basically loop through all the frames again if you keep pressing next. The problem is it goes back to frame 1, and then next doesn't work on this frame. I have a swf file (as3) that is in a header of a page. When I run the page the content below it is hidden. It's in the source code but the browser doesn't display it. If I put the swf below the content everything shows up fine. It does this in both chrome and IE. If I take out the swf from the header all of the content shows up fine also.

View 4 RepliesI have a portfolio gallery that I can browse. I click on a thumb and it opens an image. Then, if I want, I can "zoom it", by loading a larger image, that is not necessary equal.At the first time I "zoom" an image it all looks fine. I create a black rectangle, a loader and add them to stage covering everything.When I'm done seeing the image, I click on any off them and supposelly they are removed. They even desappear from stage.
But when I try again with a diferent image the same code, it actually loads the previous image and square, plus the nem desired items.This errors increments everytime I click and zoom. All of the previous appear and I have to close them again.

View 2 RepliesWe have a Flex application which is build against the 3.3 SDK. It has been in production for more than a year without any problems, till yesterday. We got a bug report yesterday that some content is invisible which prevents the user from completing an assignment. I looked into the problem and I have narrowed it down to Flash Player 11. Unfortunately it got me no closer to solving the problem.The part of the application that is giving problems is a separate .SWC which is loaded in a SWFLoader object. This is placed on a Canvas which in turn is shown to the user via the PopupManager.This is what it looks like when I view it in FireFox 10.0.2 with Flash Player 10,0,45,2 (click for image).
And this is what it looks like when I view it with Flash Player 11,1,102,62 in Chrome 17.0.963.56 (click for image)As you can see I am missing the checkboxes, two buttons and the checkpoint in the middle. The checkpoints drops in from the top of the screen and sometimes you can see parts of it. It looks like there is something invisible on top of this. In the Flash Player 11 version I am able to click on the checkboxes that are invisible and this does trigger the expected behavior so I know the mouse clicks are handles properly. Same goes for the buttons 'Vorige' (previous) and 'Volgende' (next), even though you can't see them I can still navigate between states.I have check if disabling the hard acceleration in Flash Player 11 made a difference but unfortunately it didn't. I also thought it could be the preloader that is blocking out part of the screen but the position seems all wrong and I am not having any problems with other external .SWC files that are presented to the user.
I have an application control bar at the bottom of my Flex application (with attributes width="100%", dock="false", left="0", bottom="0", height="50"). It contains a lot of elements (like buttons and labels). The width of the SWF is the width of the browser.When the user makes the width of the browser window smaller, after a certain point, thecomponents on the application control bar gets "squished": they are forced on top of each other. And so, it becomes confusing and ugly. To ensure that that doesn't happen, I've set the minWidth attribute to a value so that it'll always display the components without them overlapping each other.
But then, a horizontal scrollbar appears and hides the bottom half of the application control bar.I've googled and I found this article: flex verticalscrollpolicy bug (referenced by this SO question: Flex: Prevent scrollbar from covering content when automatically displayed).But that seems to apply only to a fixed size component. My component's width is a percentage. how to have the horizontal scrollbar appear and have it not cover up the application control bar?
While running a Flash app, if I open a new or existing Facebook chat window, my Flash content disappears. I can continue to hear music playing from the app and when I close/minimize the Facebook chat window, my Flash content reappears. Is this a known issue? This is happening in Google Chrome 15 and Internet Explorer 9 on Windows 7 with Flash Player 11.
I checked this on my own Flash app as well as on another Flash app made by someone else and the same behaviour is occurring. It does not however hide non-Flash content. It seems to be a bug with Facebook chat and Flash content.
actually i have an image gallery in a seperate HTML page, I want to embed it into the main html page containing the menu, but even after using the code <param name="wmode" value="transparent"> or <param name="wmode" value="opaque"> the submenu is still hiding behind the flash. I also tried by changing z-index values, still didn't work.

I want to automate the testing of various UI navigation/features - so that for each build/release , I can quickly validate the integrity of UI with these tests. I do not want to do the unit testing of action script APIs , instead I want to simulate the user events and assert the response against the known good results. I tried with Selenium, [URL] but if fails to record/recongnize the events fired in the flash component. Is there any tool (preferable Java based) available?
View 1 RepliesI am new to Flash CS4 so I may be doing something stupid. I created my assests on Photoshop CS4 and imported them into flash as flash layers. I followed a training video by Paul Trani about creating a first website. I have several pages in my site, home, about, contact, photos etc. I created navigation buttons for the homepage and they work great. However on my other pages I created different buttons as they are in a different place and have some additional buttons that the homepage does not have (except the contact page has common buttons to the homepage). I put the homepage and second page (contact) actions on frame 1. I then created a new keyframe at frame 20 where the rest of the pages uses common buttons. I then changed the language in the action script so as not to conflict with the frame 1 action script. I had trouble making the second group of buttons work so I created a new actions layer (actions2) and they work, except.
Well my homepage buttons work, all of them. I can even go to my contact page (which share the same buttons with the homepage) and then go back to the home page. I can also go from the homepage to the other pages and those buttons work... UNTIL I go back to the home page or to the contacts page (the pages that share buttons) then those buttons NO LONGER WORK??? It seems like once I committ myself to one group of pages (I consider myself having two groups of pages based on the sharing of buttons by each group) it disables the other group.
I have built a flash navigation menu that plays fine. I exported it and saved it into the root directory of my website.Then I opened the website and added it where I wanted it (on a Template) by selecting Insert>Media>Flash and following the steps.I added the files to my server and am finding something odd. I've been doing flash for a while, but I've never been good at coding. I'm trying to make a navigation bar for a website that follows the path of a mouse. Some examples are below: [URL] I'm looking to create something similar, however instead of having a bar slide through, I think I want an animated mask.
I want to set a default background image behind the text of the buttons, and a mask that fades out ontop of the background layer but behind the text. For those who don't understand... imagine a flashlight being pointed at a wall in a pitch black room. The circular source of light gives light to the background.Different from the examples above, I need to figure out how to make it follow the mouse exactly, instead of jumping to the next button automatically? I also suck at masks, but I'll be able to look that up. Are they animatable, or should I use a layer that is semi transparent in a circular area?

View 2 RepliesI just had my first flash lesson a couple of days ago, but decided to venture myself into trying to build a navigation tool bar with movie clips grouped together. My intention is that once the mouse rolls over one particular movie clip, another movie clip fades in under it (my version of a "drop down" menu). Just so it happens, the movie clip that fades in, is also comprised of particular movie clips with their own behaviors (roll over tween effects).
I can make each individual movie clip behave as it should, but I cannot get them to work once they are pieced together. I'm creating a project that is going to be quite text heavy. I'm putting the text into external text files (HTML formatted), so I can change to text without affecting the rest of my project.The problem is I want to have text link (i.e different colored and underlines words) in the text that takes you to other parts of the resource (similar to a hyperlink in a web site). I'm in the middle of redesigning my portfolio site and I'm running into an issue in Flash. I have added a sound to the rollover of a movieclip button and it works fine as I navigate forward through the site, but when I jump backwards the sound starts repeating and it multiplies by the number of times I go back. I have put the sound in using the properties palette and am wondering if there is a simple way to add some AS3 code to the rollover function. I'm sure it is a simple fix, but I'm no AS3 master by any stretch. Below is my current button code. Can I just add code to the 'onRollOverHandler' function?

I am gradually learning Flash and am able to play a 56 frame movie clip in frame 5 using stop(); on the main level. What I don't know is how to move onto frame 6 on the main level once the clip is finished.
