hoping to shed some light on senocular Flash-Based Email Form Using PHP tutorial [URL] basically have added more fields and giving them there different variable names but cant work how to add the extra variables in the php script almost certain it goes here in the php script but just cant work it out

I don't know if this is too much to ask but could someone give me a quick overview on how to create an email form that actually sends the information to my email? I have the form created, and I'll post the .fla file (I allow a laugh at my elementary flash movie. This is just a final project for an intro to flash class), and I understand I'll need the .asp file from GoDaddy setup on my hosted space.
View 3 RepliesI have used the kirupa tutorial on a flash email form and it works GREAT! The only thing is I want to have required fields that need to be entered in for the form to send. If the user doesn't enter anything, it will ask them to in order to send the email.how I can do this or adapt it to the kirupa tutorial code?

1) It doesn't send. A blank email form comes up that the user has to fill out - doesn't work with their email client.
2) How can I get it to validate?

I am having some issues with a php email form that I am using in my AS3 project. the form works perfect and all communication is good.however when the user is on the page and wants to tab to the next text field it jumps to one of my hyperlinks on the same page and not to the next text field down on the php form.
is there any way to stop this from happening.I have tried placing the php form on a seperate layer in a seperate mc and I have done the same with the hyperlinks .you can see what I mean by visiting this development site.(after entering go to contact)http:[url].....
I'm trying to build a workaround for embedding my (downloaded) flash videoplayer. (it's the JWplayer...)
At the moment, when somebody wants to embed the videoplayer they have to include the swf with all the added flashvars (url...). That's messy, and it feels a bit risky... people who know what they are doing can also just remove the plugin and other added data, resolving in me not being able to track pageviews etc.[code]...
Turns out that, when I use file_get_contents on a regular test file, info.php, that responds through a $_GET['var'], the above stated code works, but when I use it on the flashplayer, it doesn't...
As in: the flash file does not seem to be accepting (or responding to) the added header variables...
Why I am getting an extra blank browser window named "untitled" behind the main one, which pops up fine. I did test it on my remote server and it still had the same problem as from within flash itself?

I am creating a website in flash CS4 and I made a contact form and when I test the site out, I can type and click the submit button, so everything is fine there but it doesn't go to anything. Now I know I need a code to tell the contact form where to go, but I can't find one that works, or I may be doing something wrong. I also have been reading about PHP but I am not sure what that is. I found a site that said to put this code in the actions panel.

I have found a bunch of AS3 tutorials on making flash email forms with PHP. Is there anyway I can make this work from a CD or a user's desktop? about 99.9% of the projects we make are meant to be viewed from a CD, and I can't make any of the samples work from a CD (or my desktop).

View 4 RepliesI have tried following the tutorial for building a Flash webpage email contact form using Actionscript 2.0 and the PHP script written in Dreamweaver to process the website visitor's information.When I receive the inbound email message in my inbox, it only contains the "Name: ", "Email: ", and "Message: " titles that I wrote into the PHP script followed by nothing. The actual visitor's info and text that was entered into the text inputs and text fields on the Flash webpage is missing.I have a button symbol instance named "sender" on the root timeline. When clicking that to send the email, Flash does not make use of the Boolean value returned in the echo PHP function of the variable $sentOk to move the Flash movie timeline to either the success or failed messages on those respective frames of the timeline. The movie just stays on the current frame which is all of the form objects and the "sender" button.[code]My GoDaddy web hosting account ( on a Linux server ) has assured me that PHP is allowed to run on my remote web domain. Basically I've created a simple flash form which is linked to a PHP processor to email to a client. I have both simple text input fields, and the ComboBox and DateSelector components from the flash CS3 menu.
Inputs from the text fields work fine and appear in the emailed form, I have set the var fields on these. However the ComboBox and DateSelector inputs don't appear, and i cant figure out how to set the var fields on these. How do you get the text/whatever is chosen from these components to actually appear in the emailed php form!?

I had to put the entire "form" and the buttons in a movieclip itself, that lets the form and the other text "fade in". The problem itself happens when the fading in occurs : The movieclip that holds the form starts blinking between the form and the thank you page for as long as the parent movieclip is playing the fade in. When the fade in stops (stop on parent movieclip) the blinking stops. I don't know how this is possible as the first action in the form movieclip is 'stop()'

When submit is clicked. It just says waiting for server connection. The email is never sent. I think the problem is with the php.

I believe my problem lies within the email_data var. And I believe the problem is the "&" that has to be there. If I take it out I dont receive the information placed inside the corresponding input text fields.

Then I downloaded his source file and changed the email address in the php and uploaded it and Its still not working.

I'm trying to adjust "Senocular" email contact form to work inside a movie clip.http[url]....I placed it in the MC, changed the target path where it applies in the action script and for the most part it works. I'm able to receive emails from the form.However, i am not able to receive any of the typed information. Instead, i get "< >" in the email where content should be. It seams that the text field variable are not being passed off to the PHP script. The form works fine when not inside a MC and i haven't touched the PHP, only the target path?
