View 7 RepliesI'm looking at some requirements for an upcoming flash project. One requirement is for the browser url in the address bar to change as a user clicks around in the flash movie so that a user might copy/paste said address into an email and another visitor will be brought to the same location. Is this possible?
View 5 RepliesAnybody know of a way to get the IP Address of a SWF's user? Almost every solution I've seen involves some kind of special install, ie SSI or java.net... I need a solution that works on a plain vanilla IIS webserver.
If there's no way in Flash, I'd settle for a javascript method, so I could then just pass it into Flash in some way.
When a user does not have a flash player... and enters a flash website...is there a way flash can recognise this and with a click he/she can download the latest flash player from that site?
View 1 RepliesI would like to get the user's IP locally without any invoking any service.
View 1 RepliesIs there a way in Flash to detect if the user has quit the application? For example if the user closes the browser window, or has not been active for 5 minutes, then so remove them from the list of active members.
View 0 RepliesI'm almost certain this is possible, but am not sure how to go about it.
Basic idea: User visits a website using a HTTP/socks proxy. Hidden .swf file is embedded on the site which, when loaded by the client, sends data back to the web server, and that allows the IP to be logged along with a corresponding session ID of some sort which ties the proxy IP and the true IP together.
My question is how would I go about doing this in flash? I've searched for examples, but all I've managed to find on the subject is people claiming that it's possible to do.
We have a custom flash video player. It uses streaming over a hosted FMS $50/month account.Some users are complaining that the video doesn't play at all.ith one of these users, we had them go to a speed test website and it was determined that they had a very slow connection which we are assuming is what is causing them to not be able view the video.So before we try to load the video we want to determine their connection speed. Then if they have a good enough connection we will play the video and if not then we will do something else like play a lower quality video or simply display a message and not play a video at all.
View 3 RepliesIs there a way for a Flash Facebook app in an iFrame to detect if the user is a fan of the page using the Graph API for Actionscript 3? If not can I achieve the same goal using Javascript? without asking the user for permission (no access token required).

I made a project (learning courseware for kids) in flash MX and want to distribute on a CD. what I want is When user runs the course it (.htm or script) should check whether flash player is installed or not. If its not there then it should prompt the user to install it which I m planning to distribute in my CD but I dont have any idea how can it be done...
View 1 RepliesI'm wondering wether there's a Javascript way to detect wether a user has any sort of flash blocking plugin installed so i can accommodate these users properly. For example, I use 'click to flash', but sites that use SiFR to render text are littered with "click to flash" buttons, which is getting very annoying. I don't use SiFR in my designs for this reason. But if I could spot wether there's a flash blocking plugin installed, I would simply not call the SiFR function.

View 1 RepliesI want to print the user's IP address in Flash via a PHP script, but keep getting an undefined variable (printed as "undefined"). Here's my PHP script:
PHP Code:
<?php
// Script for getting IP
$yourip = $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'];
echo ("yourip=".$yourip);
?>
[Code] .....
I have the following which produces a trace if the user does not type an email address when testing locally, but nothing when testing outside of Flash.

I have some FLV videos was to play on web (play in a flash player, e.g. JWPlayer). How can I protect it? I do not want someone else to download these videos.The videos was high secret! Only allow play on my website.
View 3 RepliesFrom a Flash object, I would like to be able to detect the presence of a webcam that the user might grant access to, without actually asking the user whether they want to grant access. This is to streamline a large application that has extra features if a webcam exists — if there is a webcam, the application will present several dialogs that lead up to the normal cam-security prompt, but if the user doesn't have the hardware, I want to skip over them altogether. Requesting access to the cam before those dialogs won't make sense to the user.
It appears not to be possible to call Camera.getCamera() without the security prompt happening. Is there a workaround? (For instance, could I, perhaps, call getCamera in a hidden Flash object and inspect its return value, or does it block until the user acknowledges the security prompt?)
Is there a way for flash to detect a user's bandwidth, and depending the size of bandwidth, stop loading, or continue with the load? Now that I'm thinking about it, this would probably be a javascript detection script and if the bandwidth is high, load .swf, if not load a .jpg?
View 3 RepliesI want to limit my SWF file so that it cannot be stolen and hosted on another server. So if the domain serving the SWF file isn't on a list of approved domains, the SWF will not load normally but will instead display a message that links to one of the approved locations. What I'm unsure about is how to access the domain that is hosting the file (or get the fully qualified URL of the file). If You know how to get that information, I'm using Flash CS4 to compile the code targeting FP 9.
View 2 RepliesI'm still a beginning in flash in general and I'm attempting to strengthen the protection of my .swf file.One of the ideas I had was to split the .swf file up, to so speak; creating a new swf with sensitive, but vital functions and values, storing it on my webserver, and having the launcher request the files after passing a few verification processes. Only flaw in this idea, is I have no idea how to add a class (if that's the right term?) to my project. I reversed another .swf file which included the same method using Base64 encryption, but I'm not too sure how to add an external .as file to execute in my project.Of course, I've also found additional methods, such as using DCOMSoft SWF Protector (which wouldn't do much good) and obfuscation programs (which, too, can be reversed). I've recently found out about a .SWC called AS3Crypto, which I have no idea how to use. I've added the file to my AS3 Properties, but that's as far as I have gotten. The rest of AS3Crypto and its mysteries remain vague to me, and I am unable to find any useful information via Google.
I would really like to split the .swf into parts having them in different areas to make it more difficult to reverse, but I am not too sure how effective that would be, let alone how to actually do it. In regards to the external class (terminology?), since I was unable to find how to implement it with my project, I thought of salvaging the functions from the reversed .swf I have found and adding them into my internal script. Even then, the package begins with public class $Base64 extends Object -- extendsI assume simply adds additional functionality to objects, but I do not believe this is entirely necessary.
I've always found it very annoying that Flash takes over the write protection of files that has been used, and suddenly felt an urge to do something about it. I'm not sure if it always happen on all computers but at least most of the times I can't rename a folder if a fla-file in it at some point have been opened in Flash if Flash is still running. So I have to close Flash in order to rename or move files.
View 2 Replies1.When a person Logs In, a PHP file makes an XML file of questions from the DataBase2.The Flash application then calls for the XML file .. Reads from it and asks the question to the user.3.This XML file also has the answers to the questions so that i can show on my Flash Application.4. The Problem:Softwares like Tamper Data (it Firefox Extension which gives you the power to view, record and even modify outgoing HTTP requests.give the complete path of the XML file when it is called by the Flash Application.
View 14 Repliesis there a way I can use javascript to detect if a user has a debugger version or a release version?
View 6 RepliesI wanted to find out how my intellectual property, such as graphic designs, photos, tweens designs, etc can be protected in a .swf flash file?.This is because there are .swf file decompliers which can very easily convert my files into .fla and so access can be gained to my jpeg designs, photos, etc.Is there a best practise which can be followed whereby some form of security measures can be taken within flash code, etc? And if so does anyone know what these measures are?
View 6 RepliesIf you want to use content on another server, that server needs to host a crossdomain.xml file allowing access. If this file isn't there, flash won't let you access it. Given that it's easy enough to just write a proxy (say a php script that curls the external URLs) what is the purpose of this restriction? It seems that the content is still 100% available to external people, but there is just one extra hoop to jump through.

View 3 RepliesI have been searching for a simple way to detect if a user is connected to the internet. I have been told to download xmls and read from html is there anyway one proven way which I can use in my projector for both mac and pc?
I want to hold a user on a frame while flash detects if a connection is present, if not user is shown a message 'please try again' if connection is prsent button appears in center of the stage which takes the user to a URL when pressed.
At run time, Is it possible to detect the 'Connection Speed of the user' and change the way my preloader works? Say If the user is on a Dial up connection then play the initial 50% of the movie that has been loaded while loading the remaining 50% in background, If the user is on DSL or cable then load the entire 100% movie and so on.
