View 1 RepliesI have made a javascript/flash system to play sound effects on an AJAX-based game I have made. For some reason, on some systems (it appears to be just Firefox 3 on Windows XP), users can only hear the sound effects play while the window is in focus. If they minimize the window or are looking at a different window the sound effects don't play.

when i have this line active(the red one) it gives me automatic focus, so no clicking to be able to detect key input so i got that going for me which is nice BUT when i have it active(not commented out) i get this big yellow line which goes away when i click it(seeBelow)
I want my flash movie to go to a specific frame when the user moves the cursor away from the actual swf file (rollout) in the html page.
I tried different things, for instance having a big transparent movieclip in the background and use hitTest:
//this code is in the root level
this.createEmptyMovieClip('penCheck', 100000);
this.penCheck.ref = this;
this.penCheck.onEnterFrame = function() {
[code].....
This doesn't work until the user clicks outside the flash (flash loses focus).
PS: No Javascript allowed. Just AS.
Has anyone noticed the following behavior building Flex programs using the mxmlc ANT task (running in the background): as the MXMLC task starts, it steals the window focus from whatever application is currently running, and then gives it back again! This is extremely disruptive.Is there a way to run the MXMLC task "headless" so it doesn't interact at all with the window system?I'm running on Mac OS X (10.5.8, if that matters), and Flash 4.0.1 (although the behavior existed on 3.x as well).
View 1 RepliesSo I have this AIR app coded in flex where I have several floating native windows and what I want is to detect when a user clicks outside of a window so that I can close it. (I don't want to use the PopupManager Class and would want to use the native windows).
My question is, is there a way to detect a click outside of a spark window, or alternativley is there some root container/object which is a parent to all the native windows so that a click inside any native window would bubble up to it? (Apparently the stage object of the root windowed application is not that object since each window is not a child of the stage for the root application).
When a user does not have a flash player... and enters a flash website...is there a way flash can recognise this and with a click he/she can download the latest flash player from that site?

View 1 RepliesI have a background which scroll's when the mouse is at the edge of the flash window - RTS style. If the mouse cursor goes outside the window I want it to stop scrolling, but flash reads the cursor position as the last place it was, when it was still within the flash window.I know I've done this before, but I can't at all remember how!Is there an event I can listen for or something similar?
View 4 RepliesWe have a custom flash video player. It uses streaming over a hosted FMS $50/month account.Some users are complaining that the video doesn't play at all.ith one of these users, we had them go to a speed test website and it was determined that they had a very slow connection which we are assuming is what is causing them to not be able view the video.So before we try to load the video we want to determine their connection speed. Then if they have a good enough connection we will play the video and if not then we will do something else like play a lower quality video or simply display a message and not play a video at all.
View 3 RepliesIs there a way for a Flash Facebook app in an iFrame to detect if the user is a fan of the page using the Graph API for Actionscript 3? If not can I achieve the same goal using Javascript? without asking the user for permission (no access token required).

View 1 RepliesI have a flash website which has the following dimensions:
width = 100% of browser window
height = 1500px
What I'm trying to do is have a movie clip with the instance name of 'msie' vertically and horizontally centred to the middle of the browser window (not just the stage).
The current code I'm using is:
msie._x = Stage.width / 2;
msie._y = Stage.height / 2;
This correctly centres the movieclip to the width of the browser window but because the height of the stage is 1500px, it positions it at 750px from the top instead of being vertically centred in the browser window.
how I can get this to work. I feel like all I need to is replace the word 'Stage.' with something else in the code.
I'm wondering wether there's a Javascript way to detect wether a user has any sort of flash blocking plugin installed so i can accommodate these users properly. For example, I use 'click to flash', but sites that use SiFR to render text are littered with "click to flash" buttons, which is getting very annoying. I don't use SiFR in my designs for this reason. But if I could spot wether there's a flash blocking plugin installed, I would simply not call the SiFR function.

View 9 RepliesI am currently working on a flash ad for a local bank. One of the frames of the animation requires that the disclaimer text be displayed. I am attempting to create a tab within the ad that if clicked will allow a small window to slide up (roughly half the height of the medium rectangle), display the disclaimer and then close. This would occur while the main animation is still progressint. The problem is I'm not sure how to go about it.
I've seen this technique in an Insurance ad on one of the major ad networks but have not been able to determine how to do it.
I am using Flash CS4. I am marginally proficient in AS3.
I am trying to write the code for making a text input control in flex. As the user enters the value in text input control and then if he removes the typed characters to make the text input blank, then I print error message via StringValidator. But I want the focus to be set on that text input only until the user enters anything. How can I achieve that?
View 2 RepliesI'm struggling to get around an error that is constantly thrown in my application when I press the tab key.
I have a modal dialog box that contains a form with 3 form items. Whenever I press the tab button flex throws an error saying
"ArgumentError: Error #2025: The supplied DisplayObject must be a child of the caller."
I've tried setting up a focus manager in the initilize handler of my title window to no avail

focus.setFocus(firsttextfield);

I'm trying to build accessibility into a slideshow that will work in Window Eyes on a PC/IE7. The user will tab in order over a button for each slide. It all works except for I'd like to show the image on the stage when they tab to the button. I thought if I could listen for the tab, I could execute a function to change the image. But that doesn't seem to work. Should I scan for a change in which button is focused on? I'm not sure how to do that..
View 0 RepliesIs there any reliable way to give the stage focus when you first open it in a browser window WITHOUT first clicking on the stage? By reliable, I mean something that works across different browsers and on both PCs and Macs.I've seen numerous threads on this subject, and I've read the Adobe tech note, and it seems there is no reliable way.How in the world can Adobe ask people to use Flash and not provide a reliable way to give the stage focus on startup.
View 1 RepliesI have a flash panorama that has hotspot links to pop-up windows that contain more information about the object. Right now if you are in fullscreen mode and click a hotspot you are automatically kicked out of fullscreen mode and the pop-up then opens. Is it possible to have the pop-up open and have focus while in the background the panorama is still in fullscreen mode?
View 2 RepliesI am unable to replicate this issue in Flash - only in a browser window. It appears that if I lose focus of that window for a period of time or scroll down the page where the embedded flash isn't visible, when I scroll back up or return to the window, the event timers appear to play catch-up.The timed "removeChild" commands do not run and leave remnants on the stage. I do not get any errors however, and everything else seems to continue running as normal.

I have created a container in Flash Professional CS5 for my projects CBT. I have been able to script many of the features we require using AS3, but there are a couple of things I am still trying to work out.I would like the swf presently playing in one tab to pause and go silent when another swf is opened in a new tab (the sound is inside this externally loaded swf which is loaded inside a movie clip from buttons nested a movie clip down). I have tried :
var originalFrameRate:uint = stage.frameRate;
var standbyFrameRate:uint = 0;
addEventListener(Event.ACTIVATE, onActivate)[code]....
This function is present when I publish the CBT with Captivate, so obviously there must be code available. You can set the Captivate button to open url in new window and pause movie.Is there something I can add to the html file that is similar to the has Priority for mobile devices or is there javascript that can be added to the flash itself?
I'd like to set up my splash page (all Flash) so that the login form is ready and waiting for input, without the user having to move the pointer to the first input text field and then click it.
View 3 RepliesI have a web page that uses javascript counters to count user "active" time, meaning the time a user spends viewing this page (and not some other page). I do this by starting/stopping them using the [URL].. However, when the user clicks on a plugin inside the same page (flash, java, etc), the window loses focus and window.onblur is fired. Is there a way to tell that the user is still on my page?
