Actionscript 3 - User Initiated Pop-up Window Within Flash Ad?
Sep 3, 2010
I am currently working on a flash ad for a local bank. One of the frames of the animation requires that the disclaimer text be displayed. I am attempting to create a tab within the ad that if clicked will allow a small window to slide up (roughly half the height of the medium rectangle), display the disclaimer and then close. This would occur while the main animation is still progressint. The problem is I'm not sure how to go about it.
I've seen this technique in an Insurance ad on one of the major ad networks but have not been able to determine how to do it.
I am using Flash CS4. I am marginally proficient in AS3.
I unserstand security restrictions about working with clipboard. The user must do an action then clipboard may be written.
But what if on mouseclick i have to load some text from server using URLRequest and copy obtained data to clipboard?
Like this:
protected function clickHandler(e:MouseEvent):void { this.fileReference = new FileReference(); this.fileReference.addEventListener(Event.SELECT, this.fileSelectHandler);
i've made a flash movie in res 600 * 300, now i want to keep this res don't want the user to be able to expand the browser window or change the res or anything how do i do this?
I have create a poker game user have 30 seconds time to play his turn, but the error is when user open another tab of his browser then flash countdown stopped until user dosent click on game tab. I tried, Timer event, setInterval and MovieClip enterframe also, but the main problem is when user focus the other browser window then flash all functions goes stopped until dosen't come back...
I have create a game and added keydown event on Stage but but problem is user need to click on stage then it start capturing keydown event. I want that when game window open after that user don't need to click on flash stage area for unable keydown event..
how can i "emulate" a MouseEvent, that has not been initiated by a button with a eventListener (e.g. just by a simple function call) and how can i pass variables into it to switch the event.types ?
public function myMouseEvent(event:MouseEvent):void { switch (event.type)
this is probably a really simple code, (it might be javascript i dunno)... but i want a simple 'X' button that will close my window when the user clicks it.---------------------------------------------------
I have made a javascript/flash system to play sound effects on an AJAX-based game I have made. For some reason, on some systems (it appears to be just Firefox 3 on Windows XP), users can only hear the sound effects play while the window is in focus. If they minimize the window or are looking at a different window the sound effects don't play.
How are you able to grab the Window NT Logged User Name using Flex/Actionscript. I have worked with attaining these credentials in ASP.NET, but I am new to the realm of Flex and need some assistance
ASP.NET code looks as follows Getting the User Name : using three ways we can get the User Name using C#
I'm trying to do a similar effect that this site does: [URL] It's a full flash site. How do you make sure the scrollbar for example stays on the right hand side of the screen depending on what resolution/size of the browser the user is using. Even if they then resize it, the scrollbar ends up on the right hand side at all times.
Also the content is moved to the center when you resize the width of the screen. At the moment though I'm just interested in how to keep something aligned to the right dynamically.
I have a project that's 1024x768. However, on screens with a resolution of 1024x768, the users still have to scroll (the project is too big to fit in the browser window). Is there a way to allow scaling of the project only if it's too big for the user's window? I don't want the project to always scale to fit the window size. I only want to scale it down if it's too large to fit on screen without scrollbars.
I need to do some updates to components after a user has resized the browser window. Is there a good solution to determine when a user has completed resizing? I wasn't able to find any flex events that would cover this case.
I have a strange issue- I use a title window to create a message to the user. The user has the ability to move the title window around the screen so that the main screen is visible.However if the user were to move the title window way too much, it can actually go outside the browser accessible area- the user has no option but to close the browser and start again. How do we ensure that the title window movement is limited, such that the title bar is always available for control?
I might not have worded this right- pls check the attached image.
I have a slight issue with my application I'm working on. Whenever I attach new "windows" to the stage (using attachMovie), it seems that the window that is currently on top allows the user to click the buttons and components on the window behind it. I'm using Flash CS3 Professional, but exporting to AS2.0/Flash8.
A Custom Class can be initiated from an FLA or from another Custom Class. Is there a way to find at run-time, where is the current class initiated from?We can't use parent class before it has been added with addChild(thisClass), neither we can use root class to identify its originator. I believe, there should be a way to find it.
what i am trying to achieve is have a rollover on a button that pops up a 'window' with some text on it (i have this bit worked out) then once the user has finished reading the text they rollout from the 'window' and the image behind is restored. i have attached the .fla so you can see what i mean.
what is going wrong is that the active part of the rollover on the button is only very small and as the 'window' expands and then reveals the text, the active part of the button remains small. so when the user moves his or her mouse the 'window' disappears. i'd like it to stay open until they rollout from the entire text window.
I'm really not great with the math. I'm pretty close with the formula but my movement is still wonky and doesn't stop where it should. (Top and bottom of the stage, rather than scrolling into infinity). For example, I need it to work like the menu at this link: [URL].
Code: import com.greensock.*; import com.greensock.easing.*; stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_MOVE, Move); function Move(event:Event){ var distance:Number = mouseY - (stage.stageHeight)/2; var percentage:Number = distance / stage.stageHeight; var targetY:Number = -(content.height * percentage) + content.y; TweenMax.to(content, 5 , { y: Math.round(targetY), ease:Expo.easeOut } ); }
Test of my code is here: [URL]. My fla is also posted as an attachment.
I made a simple animation for a preloader and when the animation is finished a boolean is set to true.At the same time an external swf is being loaded and also sets a boolean to true.If both booleans are true the externally loaded swf is displayed.
The loading works, the booleans work, everything works just fine except the animation when loader.load(content) is initiated. When I comment this line the animation works and offcourse nothing is loaded. When this line uncommented the animation won't work (visibly) but the swf gets loaded and displayed...
I have Flex call a C# dll which starts a long batch process (10 minutes). This process is actually a PERL program which periodically outputs progress messages. I want to be able to stream these messages back to a text area in Flex.
I'm creating a screen saver where day1_mc will play on the first day the screen saver is initiated , then day2_mc will play at 12:00am on the 2nd day, then day3_mc will play on the start of the next day at 12:00 am and so forth until the 5 day cycle is up, it will loop back to day1_mc.
currently I use the following workflow for Live video streaming.I have FMLE on a computer streaming the Video feed to my FMS.I currenlty use Dreamweaver to create window with a few instances of a video window and one of the windows is configured to rtmp to my server and the stream name of the stream I have setup in FMLE.This then streams to one of the windows.I then assign a different Stream name to the other windows.
I send an FMLE client to a user in the locations that want to have a video presence on the webpage.I send them instructions and running FMLE and the parameters to use to get their camera up and running.This works fine to a point.Most of the users are not technically minded and so often this leads to issues and delays to get these things to work.
I want to move on and improve this flow.I want to create the video instances on the page where:Below each video window is a text input field where a user can type in their name which will be used as the stream name.Below each video window is a button that the user clicks to connect their camera automatically without having to install FMLE.Once the video feed is running, only that user can click the button again to disconnect it. ( The button changes to "Stop Broadcast" etc).
I have looked at the structure of Ustream for example, and this seems to be the method they use as you can download the XML file of your channe,l and the RTMP URL and stream name can be copied and then used directly in FMLE and you can stream with more control of your camera that way.
I wonder wether on a website like chatroulette for example, the streaming video is going directly from user to user or wether it is going through a server.
In other words I wonder wether it is possible to offer a webcam service on a website, so that the streaming video goes directly from user to user, without overloading the system.
We have a sort of game, generated with Flash in AS3, on our website where the reader is invited to eliminate the California Budget Deficit. It's connected to a database where we keep track of the responses and print them in chart form and post the results on the website so everyone can see the most popular budget items the readers want to cut.
See the interactive in question here:

We've had many, many requests to have an option where the reader can get a copy of his/her choices that he/she can print out. I've thought about having a movieclip pop up that shows those choices (and that would be simple enough), but in addition to that, what I'd really like to do is have a way to download those choices to the reader's computer as a text file or maybe have a "Print" button on the movieclip showing the choices that would print just that movieclip. The database we have wouldn't really be suitable because it's set up to simply show which were chosen and which not, and the names of the submissions and choices are variables that don't really mean anything except to us when we put it all in an excel file.
