I am trying to secure my Flex application within my Java web application. Currently my Java web application, handles logging and managing user accounts and the like. I was wondering if there is a way to essentially share that user credentials with the Flash movie in a secure mechanism? For instance, if you log in, we want you to be able to save items in the Flex application for that user, only if that user is logged in of course. I'm running Tomcat 5.5, Java 6 doing portlet development inside a Vignette Portal. All data communication is via Blaze DS. In our environment, we have data services and the portal handles logins, user management and the like. Currently we are simply passing down the username to the flash movie, which I don't feel is very secure.

When I test the code
trace("returning "+this.islogged); which is inside the onload function traces after trace(logStatus.islogged); which is inside onRelease of the button. So logStatus is undefined. How can I eliminate this.
Here's the battle plan:
User logs into website.
User clicks the Play button and a new window opens with the flash game in it.
If the user is logged into website, have the flash game load. Otherwise ask him for credentials.
Is this type of interconnectivity possible? Can I give a flash object (.swf) something to use?
Is there a way (using flash) to grab the raw html from another browser frame? I'd like the following sequence:
Launch my window from [URL]...Launch window from another site [URL]..which has content I want to grab.Let my window grab the raw html content from the other window.
I doubt this is possible because it could be used for dastardly purpii, but just wanted to check.
I need to have access to the logged in user throughout a flash application. Therefor I'm concidering making the 'user' variable global.
I usually try to avoid global variables, but it seems quite suitable in this case and I'm not the first to concider the active user as a global. I know that systems like drupal also uses a global variable for the logged in user.I want to know if stackoverflow thinks of this as bad practice or if there are better alternatives.
I need to do some updates to components after a user has resized the browser window. Is there a good solution to determine when a user has completed resizing? I wasn't able to find any flex events that would cover this case.
View 1 RepliesI have a strange issue- I use a title window to create a message to the user. The user has the ability to move the title window around the screen so that the main screen is visible.However if the user were to move the title window way too much, it can actually go outside the browser accessible area- the user has no option but to close the browser and start again. How do we ensure that the title window movement is limited, such that the title bar is always available for control?

getting the list of the users currently connected to a BlazeDS server? Is there any built-in mechanism of knowing this? or do I have to implement some kind of server side logic every time a user access my Flex application and store all logged in users details somewhere and retrieve them later?

But there is a strange problem, after about 2 minutes of inactivity if I try to perform any operation I see that my channelset has been been forcefully logged out Is there some configuration which I need to do in order to prevent this from happening. I tried adding this in my web.xml, so that the session persists but it didnt help my cause.

View 9 RepliesThe entire box at the top is a Flex application. The box on the left with the list of pinball machines is a VBox. As you can see, if you try to scroll with your mousewheel, it doesnt respond. The reason this is shut off is because I found that if it's turned on, when you scroll up/down, the whole page goes with it. So if you scroll down four or five times, the application goes out of sight.I tried finding a solution to this when I programmed this last year but wasnt able to find any answers.if there's a way to make Flex grab the focus of the mousewheel and not let the browser move as well?

View 1 RepliesIf I create an animation in Flash CS5 that is 600 by 400 pixals and I publish the SWF file, on execution it plays fine at that size.
If I maximise the window, the animation stays the same size and I can see the spillage pieces etc, that I do not want to be seen.
how do I set it so that the animation scales when the window is maximised?
I am currently working on a flash ad for a local bank. One of the frames of the animation requires that the disclaimer text be displayed. I am attempting to create a tab within the ad that if clicked will allow a small window to slide up (roughly half the height of the medium rectangle), display the disclaimer and then close. This would occur while the main animation is still progressint. The problem is I'm not sure how to go about it.
I've seen this technique in an Insurance ad on one of the major ad networks but have not been able to determine how to do it.
I am using Flash CS4. I am marginally proficient in AS3.

When they leave the page they they logged in to and try to go back to it it asked them to log in again. I don't want them to do that i want the action script to keep the session logged in.

For some reason, on some systems (it appears to be just Firefox 3 on Windows XP), users can only hear the sound effects play while the window is in focus. If they minimize the window or are looking at a different window the sound effects don't play.

How do you make sure the scrollbar for example stays on the right hand side of the screen depending on what resolution/size of the browser the user is using. Even if they then resize it, the scrollbar ends up on the right hand side at all times.
Also the content is moved to the center when you resize the width of the screen. At the moment though I'm just interested in how to keep something aligned to the right dynamically.
I have a project that's 1024x768. However, on screens with a resolution of 1024x768, the users still have to scroll (the project is too big to fit in the browser window). Is there a way to allow scaling of the project only if it's too big for the user's window? I don't want the project to always scale to fit the window size. I only want to scale it down if it's too large to fit on screen without scrollbars.

View 1 Replieswhat i am trying to achieve is have a rollover on a button that pops up a 'window' with some text on it (i have this bit worked out) then once the user has finished reading the text they rollout from the 'window' and the image behind is restored. i have attached the .fla so you can see what i mean.
what is going wrong is that the active part of the rollover on the button is only very small and as the 'window' expands and then reveals the text, the active part of the button remains small. so when the user moves his or her mouse the 'window' disappears. i'd like it to stay open until they rollout from the entire text window.

I'm trying to place a popup window (TitleWindow) in the middle of the main application window. how do i set the coordinates of my popup window to be of the main application window? i tried the localToGlobal function but with no luck, I just can't get the main window x and y.
