Jan 27, 2011I have a parent node and I'm trying to get each child node under that parent and store it into an arraycollection? How could I go by doing this?

Will trace the url attribute of the first node but I can't find the correct targeting for the node I need. I've been using AS 3 to do all my XML stuff but I can't use AS 3 for this project unfortunately and I don't really get it with AS 2.

That is I want to hide the contact_person and list nodes.Deleting the nodes from the dataprovider cannot be done.So what i did was to create a custom tree data descriptor by extending DefaultDataDescriptor.Then override the getChildren method and applied a filterfunction to the collection returned by super.getChildren.The problem is when i hide the 'list' node I cannot have the child nodes to show up.So is there any way I can hide 'list' but show the children of 'node'?

Rename ,delete and disable are supposed to be link buttons. I have tried with label function and other methods also but not able get the exact requirement.

Flex :: VGroup - (Parent) Container Does Not Change Height With Children?
May 13, 2011I have code like the following:

I don't understand why the following does not work:
Pushing the Button resizes the photoCanvas's height (gets taller or smaller). Since the photoCanvas control is a child element of the VGroup shouldn't the container update itself to the new height? The Vgroup has ALWAYS the same height, no matter what the (total) height of the children is! I would like the VGroup to adjust itself and get a height value equal to the sum of its children heights. Is this not possible??

Jun 17, 2009In flex 3 I have a hierarchical data structure. I would like to display the content of it in a tree. My problem is that I have nodes which data calculated from children nodes. How to structure the hierarchy to make automatic changes to those parent nodes, if their children's data changed? For example:
Every node has a warning flag. If some of the children warning flag changed to true, then the parent warning flag should change automatically set to true. A node integer field is the sum of the children integer fields, and if any of the children changes, the parent integer field "calculates" the sum immediately. Is there an easy solution wit good structuring changes happen automatically, or I have to make some custom functions?

Feb 16, 2012I have a project, where I am selecting a scene based on the information in a Tree's XML data provider.
As you can see in my XML below, I've got two scenes. Each have a view001 attribute, which only exists at the highest level in the tree hierarchy. What I need to do, is to find out the information stored in this attribute.
I need to see only the one that contains the currently selected item in my Tree (named treeView, dataProvider is the xml file, labelfield is .@name).
One problem I do know I have, is that I'm only checking the first parent(). My problem is, that I don't know how to "step" through the XML, to go up one parent at a time.
