Jan 6, 2010

Basically, this is what I'm trying to do:

1: add a textbox, insert the title node,

2: then another box to display the activity under the title (which will add the description to a display textbox on click)

3. loop through the activity nodes until they are all listed under the appropriate title

4. add another text box and repeat with the next itinerary

how to build all of this right.

ActionScript 2.0 :: [F8] Accessing Nested Nodes In XML

Oct 3, 2006

I'm trying to access some information in XML. I got the first few nodes working, but for the life of me, I can't figure out how to get to the nested nodes. I've tried everything i can think of. I thought it would have to do with nested for loops, but i couldn't get it to work. What am I missing? I've been pretty successful with simple XML, and this is relatively simple too, but more than I'm used to at this point... If there is a better way to do any of this, I'm all ears (or all eyes in this case )

That is I want to hide the contact_person and list nodes.Deleting the nodes from the dataprovider cannot be done.So what i did was to create a custom tree data descriptor by extending DefaultDataDescriptor. Then override the getChildren method and applied a filterfunction to the collection returned by super.getChildren.The problem is when i hide the 'list' node I cannot have the child nodes to show up.So is there any way I can hide 'list' but show the children of 'node'?

Actionscript 3 :: Flex 4: Most Practical Way To Find Nested Children

Oct 28, 2010

I'm sort of jumping in headfirst to some Flex/AIR stuff. I have a pretty solid background with AS3, but given the inherent hierarchal complexity of Flex (compared to regular Flash), I'm running into an issue.

Let's assume that you have an app where pretty much everything is event driven (common). Accessing elements in the near vicinity of the event target, or the event target itself, is trivial. I'm trying to find, however, the most practical (read: best, most efficient) way to find children that are far removed from the current context.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Tree Structures - Replace Pointers To Nodes With Nodes Themselves

Jan 26, 2006

For those unfamiliar with tree structures, tree structures are usually dynamic lists where every node has a pointer to two other nodes. They are arranged so it makes for faster searching and stuff and are very useful in programming languages that offer direct access to heap memory. Although I don't know if there would be benefits of making tree structures in AS would be of any help but I decided to have a go at it anyway. Since there are no pointers in flash I tried to just replace pointers to nodes with nodes themselves. Such things usually work in java I think because the language just automatically makes pointers for variables.

ActionScript 3.0 :: [CS4] Children Inside Children - 1119: Access Of Possibly Undefined Property NumChildren

Jan 12, 2011

I have a Sprite called pageContent. Inside pageContent are 12 more Sprites with unique names, a couple of Buttons, and some TextFields. Inside each of the 12 Sprites I have either one or two TextFields and one TextInput. My question is, since they are children inside a child of pageContent, how can I access them? Here is how I am trying to do it:

In my mind, this should totally work. But surprise, surprise, it doesn't. I have debugged it and it works fine for the first two lines, but when it tries to get numChildren of a Child of pageContent (line 3), I get this error: PHP Code: 1119: Access of possibly undefined property numChildren through a reference with static type flash.display:DisplayObject.

Data Integration :: Pulling In Children Of Children In XML

Sep 23, 2006

Newbie to XML here and I have what I *hope* is an easy problem, but I just don't know the answer. And as I have to try and show this by Monday, I'm sort of stuck. I am trying to pull in information about houses via an xml file. Each house has 1 address, 1 owner, 1 description, and about 6 photos. I have no problem accessing the address, owner, etc, and I can always access the first photo, but whenever I cycle through the photos, I seem to cycle through the first photo for every house, not every photo for each house.

Basically, I need the children <images> to go up by one, without the the parent going up by 1. I am hoping I am describing this well. My code looks like this:

Flex - Access Children Of Children Recursively?

Mar 10, 2010

I have a Canvas which has many components inside it and those again, have many components inside them.

getChildren() returns only the top level children. What is the best way to retrieve all the children (children of children of children and so on).

Well, I sorta know how to do this by iterating through the children, but the code is really messy. I'd prefer to use a nice recursive function. Has anyone written this before? Or is there a Util class to do this?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Getting Certain Nodes From Xml?

Nov 19, 2009

I have an xml schema and recently got some actionscript working to parse it. The problem is, the actionscript is parsing some of the nodes, but missing some others, specifically the "inner" ones. Attached is the xml structure, and a simple Fla that loads the xml and attempts to trace all the nodes. You will notice, when you run it, it only traces the "ContactDetail" node once, and so misses the data.
