Flex :: Flash - Resize Children When Parent Is Resize?
Jul 29, 2009
I have Buttons which I have rotated vertically within a Canvas, that is working fine. The problem occurs, when the user resizes the window to a small size a vertical scroll bar appears, I would rather have each button squashed upto a smaller size.
Is there an easy way to make a parent container (eg Group) resize when it's children resize?
Below is a little example app. When I put the 200x200 'food' in the 'stomach' the stomach & it's containing 100x100 'body' should resize to contain the food.
I have a rectangular movieClip named 'container'. In this movieclip, a function generates some number of squares. My problem is that; for example, if I generate 12x12 squares with each width/height of 40; it resizes the container to width/height of 480. If I set the width and the height of the container movieClip to a lower value; then the squares become smaller.I have been struggling for some time on this problem. I tried setting the ScaleMode of container and squares to various values but it did not work. How can I overcome this illogical (for me at least) problem? How can I prevent children from resizing their parent OR how can i prevent parent downsizing the children?
What's the best way of resizing parent movieclip without affecting the children?I have a container movieclip that resizes depending on the stage, and when I add another movieclips to it they also resize, but I want them to keep the original size
Is there a simple way to force all the child components of a Flex app to redraw when that app is resized?
For instance, I have a HDividedBox with percentHeight and percentWidth set to 100. On the left hand side of the divided box is a data grid and on the right side is a number of text inputs. The divided box is not added to the view stack until after the user logs on.
If I resize the app before the HDividedBox is added then the box takes up the full size of the app, whatever that may be. However if i resize the app after the box appears then the box retains the same dimensions it does when it was first added.
I would have expected that on the resize of the app then all the children would redraw (the application component itself appears to).
I have a page-like flex application. In my main application is a holder (a canvas) that displays all the pages. The problem is that the components that are loaded inside the holder are bigger than the holder is when the main application starts. The holder height is set to 100% but still he gets scrollbars when I load a bigger component inside of him then himselHow can I solve this problem? And if it isn't solvable would it work correct if I use a viewstack?the holder looks like this:
<mx:canvas height="100%"> </canvas>
But the end of the application is 500 pixels lower so canvas height is 500 pixels high. Now I put a new child inside the holder that is 1000 pixels high.
I have a panel with a button in it. Clicking on the button will direct the panel to state "State2" adding another two buttons into the panel. During the state change, I want the panel to resize first and then show the newly added two buttons, so I applied transitions onto the state change.
My question is:
If I put the two buttons within a HBox directly under the addChild tag, it works fine. However, if I create a new component with the same code (HBox with two buttons in it) and then add the new component to the panel (Comp in the code commented), it won't show the resize effect.
I creating a flash gallery(using flash first time) and found one problem. When i resize movieclip(container) it resize its children, so i could't resize them manualy to dimensions what i need. How i can disable resizing of children of movieclip?
I am working on image and i like to scale or resize the image by dragging and resize option.same working as "free transform tool" in flash (design part); i need same functionality in application.
I'm having a bit of a problem here. As per the title, my flash swf file works fine when tested from the IDE, but when I publish it and open it through the browser, the stage doesn't seem to resize along with the window.I post below a bare-bones example. The "back" movie clip should resize, only it remains at the starting dimensions
I'm working on a project for my elementary school students using a book, some mp3s, and some images of text. The main movie clip is called "halloweenWitch" and it's about 10,000 frames long. Every 500 frames or so there's a keyframe for new images of the text. I'm trying to access child movie clips (mc0-mc18) to tween (resize) using code that I found here. [URL] However when I try to access the children with:
Code: Effects.resizeIt(halloweenWitch.mc0,1,2,2); From the main timeline I get an error. TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
When I debugged the program it said that the problem was this line in my Effects.as file. Code: targetMC.addEventListener(MouseEvent.ROLL_OVER, resizing,false,0,true); targetMC.addEventListener(MouseEvent.ROLL_OUT, resizing2,false,0,true);
I think it has something to do with initialization but I'm not sure how to write a function that would tell the stage to wait until all objects inside halloweenWitch are present, nor even if that's what I'm supposed to do. Code: targetMC.addEventListener(Event.ADDED_TO_STAGE, init); ??
I have a main movie here that loads in an external swf through a container mc. everything is aligned and positioned to where it should be, and they are also set to that value onresize. the problem is, when my swf is loaded in, it works fine and is in the right position, same when you resize it. BUT, if you resize the window before the swf is loaded, it misaligns, until you resize!!
I've got a large bitmap (1920 x1306) that my client wants as a bg image, scaled to the swf size on load (930 x 575); but that can "grow" up to its original size if/when a user expands the browser window. All the rest of clips in the display list are to remain in place (except for a copyright clip, which they want to always be 14 pix above the bottom of the browser frame. I've tried loading the bitmap dynamically at full size and then using scaleX,scaleY to set it's initial smaller (930x575) size, and I've tried just setting the height/width of the dynamically loaded image using the math of scaleX,ScaleY just in case the scaleX "transformed" the bitmap so that it couldn't return to its original size. Both make the bitmap the right size. But the resize function below did nothing to it, (or the copyright.y.) THEN I tried just putting the bitmap into the display list (both sizing methods work here, too). But even as an original member of the compiled display list, the resize event is still not reaching the target. Everything I've seen on the web says this should work - but...no luck.
I'm having trouble to resize my custom UIComponent that wrap flash.media.Video object (The reason I choose this way is because mx.control.VideoDisplay doesn't support streaming playback that available in flash.media.Video that is attachNetStream()). Once I create a 320x240 Video size and remove it from its parent, I can't replace it with another one, bigger or smaller. Here's my code (this one only capture Camera not NetStream).
I'm working on Flex component which can be resized using handles on the right and left (that is, if you click and drag the left side, the component will grow to the left, if you click and drag on the right, it will grow to the right).
Right now I am using:
var oldX:Number = this.x; this.x = event.stageX + (initial.x - initial.stageX); // Move the left edge to the left this.width += oldX - this.x; // Increase the width to compensate for the move to the left
But that makes the right side jump around, and generally looks ugly.
What is the "right" to do this? Is there something fundamental I've gotten wrong?
Edit: The jitter occurs on the right side of the component. When I set this.x, the component moves to the left, the screen redraws, then the width is updated, and the screen redraws again.
I need to resize images in actionscript maintaining the quality aka bicubic or bilinear resizing. At the moment my algorithm just loops through every single pixel and calculates the new pixel. example:
[Code].....
This is really slow and shamefully there is no multi-threading in the flash player, so I was wondering what tricks I can use to speed things up?
I'm using a viewStack which have is property resizeToContent set to true. When I'm selecting a child higher than the viewStack, it's correctly resized, but when I'm selecting another child which is smaller, the viewStack isn't resized! What I want is that my viewStack get the height of the selectedChild each time.
though, the Adobe doc say :
If true, the ViewStack container automatically resizes to the size of its current child.
I have code like the following: <s:VGroup gap="10" id="group" height="100%"> <s:Label text="This is page 2" /> <s:Button content="Resize Canvas" click="resize(event);"/> <mx:Canvas id="photoCanvas" color="#567898" backgroundColor="#125567"> </mx:Canvas> </s:VGroup>
I don't understand why the following does not work: Pushing the Button resizes the photoCanvas's height (gets taller or smaller). Since the photoCanvas control is a child element of the VGroup shouldn't the container update itself to the new height? The Vgroup has ALWAYS the same height, no matter what the (total) height of the children is! I would like the VGroup to adjust itself and get a height value equal to the sum of its children heights. Is this not possible??
a .fla is 500 x 300. Inside, content moves OUT of the 500 x 300 stage so that it appears like it hides or moves off of the screen. .fla complied... loaded into Flex via SWFLoader:
I'm working on a Flex 4 application and I started customizing the interface with skins to give a whole new look. So, I've created two scrollbar skins in Flash Catalyst (one horizontal, one vertical). Its working great when I test the application through Catalyst so I took it and imported it on Flash Builder, copied the components and defined the new skins in my css file for the HScrollbar and VScrollbar. The skin is working, all the buttons are ok. But, the scrollbar isnt resizing for some reason. It remains in the same height I've designed it to be regardless of the content it is bound to.
It scrolls the content in all the ways it should be but it doesnt resize and the thumb isnt getting all the way down. Also I've noticed the following.I have a custom component acting as a list. It extends Group and contains a Scroller. So at one place of the application the Scrollthumb is getting lower than on another place where the same custom list is used.I also have to mention that this scroller works perfectly without a custom skin.
I have a MainPage, on initialize I am calling a method which would create a SWFLoader object (aka LoginPage) and loads it in the MainPage. When we run the MainPage in 800x500 window, the LoginPage loads in that window size, however when we maximize the window the content of the LoginPage gets resized to 1027X660, but the border remains 800x500, and the remainig area of the window stays blank.
I am trying to automatically resize the children within an s:Group. The children are another s:Group and a H:Group. Each have a percentage width of 10% and 90% each. The problem is that when one of the groups is resized (using a transition and rotation combination in the Skin), the other group does not automatically resize to fill the space?
Shouldn't Flex do this automatically? or do I have to code this?
