Professional :: Screen Resolution And Allow Scaling Of The Project Only If It's Too Big For The User's Window?
Feb 14, 2012
I have a project that's 1024x768. However, on screens with a resolution of 1024x768, the users still have to scroll (the project is too big to fit in the browser window). Is there a way to allow scaling of the project only if it's too big for the user's window? I don't want the project to always scale to fit the window size. I only want to scale it down if it's too large to fit on screen without scrollbars.

My site starts off with a splash page. I would like to have one link to enter the site.
A long shot, but anyway....is there an actionscript that can detect user screen resolution and then open a page accordingly?

Is there any way to scale up stage according to user's screen resolution?
because:
stage.align = StageAlign.TOP_LEFT; stage.scaleMode = StageScaleMode.NO_SCALE;
and width: 100% in html document
doesn't work when screen is widther than flash site.
I managed to size up stage in AS2 but I have no idea how to do that in AS3.

Anybody has an idea how to accomplish something similar with the gallery in this website?
I have an XML gallery in my project that has pre-specified numbers of columns.
- How it could be possible to detect user's screen resolution (use of Event.RESIZE?) and according to this to change the number of columns - and of course rows?
Forgot to mention that I load records from a database so I am not aware of the total number of images...

I have published my Flash site to the web server but I notice that it doesn't display correctly in smaller resolutions (I think the smallest it looks best in is 1024 x 768)... the bottom keeps getting cut off when viewed in any small resolution. I figure this is something that can be corrected in the HTML file so if someone can show me what exactly I need to put into that file, that would be great. My site is here if you need to reference it:[URL]..

i was wondering how others have designed applications, such as photo galleries, that automatically adjust to the resolution of the screen on which it's being viewed, as opposed to adding or removing scroll bars to view just a standard, presized bg image, as in HTML.
I assume this is a certain line of ActionScript, but like I said

Video Displaying full screen I imported a video, which i have generated using the Adobe Media Encoder (size of the video 1080x450px). I am creating a 3 page slide show for an HD TV with a native resolution of 1920x1080px.
I have a new Flash file with that very stage (stage of my file is 1920x1080px). I placed a logo and then the video, positioned these two elements on the stage the way i wanted them and am trying to output them.
Issue: When i run the SWF file (which includes the video and the logo at a stage size of 1920x1080), the video takes up the whole screen with black lines above and below it. It almost feels as it is replicating a widescreen.

Sort of like this site [URL] I've currently converted the background to a movie clip and have this code.

I am building an application that is to run at 2 difference stage sizes. 960x640 and 1024x768 (for those paying attention, you may note that those are the high res settings for the iPhone and iPad2)The app was designed and build to run on a stage of 960x640 and when running at this size, there are no problems.When the app loads in the 1024x768 window, it "strechs" the stage to fill the window, but keeps the aspect ratio. Everything looks good and the application runs without any problems expect for one thing.Sometimes, display objects on the stage "jitter" when moving or animating. I have discovered that this is because the stage is "scaling" the x and y values, and is not pixel snapping the objects on the screen, even though the x and y values of the display object are indeed whole numbers.A prime example of this is I have 2 bitmapData images. bmData_s and bmData_h. bmData_s is 192x388 in size.bmData_h is created from a copy of bmData_s with a glow filter stroke on it, resulting in a image that is 198x394 (6 pixels bigger due to a 3 pixel stroke)I place it on the screen using the following code:[code]
Now, when the app runs on the iPhone which is a 960x640 screen size, or on the PC which is using a window of similiar size, the image doesn't appear to move at all the "stroke" appears and disappears exactly as it is suppose to However, when I run it in a window that is 1024x768, the _h image appears to "jump" one pixel up.I have encountered many other similiar things that only occure when the stage is scaled. There is a spot in the app where I am animating a bitmap by manipulating it's scrollrect x and width (have it's do a wipe in from right to left like a peice of paper unrolling on a table) and due to the scaling, the right edge of the image jumps left and right 1 pixel but on 960x640 screens, it looks perfect.Does anyone know how I can compensate for this effect so that this jumping doesn't occur when the stage is stretched to fit the window it's running in?

The problem that I'm facing is in regards to the width of a sliding menu that I've created. The menu slides based on mouse x position and width of the movie. I would like the menu to fit to the entire screen regardless of the users resolution. I wanted to know if there's a way to detect a users screen width and then adjust the variable for screen width within my actionscript .fla if necessary.

Ok this is more of a math issue than an AS issue, but in flash player 10 you can have an area of less than 16777215 pixels in order to make a BitmapData. The problem is I have an image bigger than this and for some reason I can't logically develop an equation that will take an image bigger than the resolution and scale it down so it's right under it in, and was curious if anyone has done this before.
Example: if i was trying to get something under 5,000 pixels and I had an image 300x60 that is a resolution of 18,000 what multiplier would i use on the height and width of the image so it stays the same aspect ratio and stays under 5,000 pixels.

I am having an issue with my project showing up to the left side of the screen when I look at it on the web. how to center the project in the middle of the page. Here is another blunder I am desperate for help with. another project I am working on I screwed up by editing the timeline for EVERYTHING inside the movie clip instead of the timeline. now when I export this to be a mov. file it only plays for like a second. so I fixed that and copy and pasted the timeline from inside the movie to the timeline on my workspace. everything is showing up on the bottom right of the page.

I´m working on a project for a presentation, but there is a weird bug...When I test the project in Flash, it works properly, but when I open the .exe or .swf file in my pc, it apparently does not work.The proyect is set to be in full screen, but while testing the .exe, if I press (ESC) to leave full screen mode, then it works perfect!
I need my proyect to be full screen, so removing that feature is not an option.The bug makes my proyect to stop in a frame, but if I press ESC, I can see that the project never stoped, and it's in the frame that it should be.I uploaded my proyect so you can download it if you want and help me. It weighs 3Mb, and contains a video.[URL]

We are building an application in Flex where we have to scale and reposition the circles based on the changed screen resolutions. Example: Current resolution: (800, 600) I draw a circle at position (410,290) with radius 10 Now If i change the resolution of screen to (1440, 960) then the circle should be drawn at the same place on the screen with respect to the new resolution with relative increase in the radius.

I have this ActionScript: function openNewCart(evt:Event):void { navigateToURL(new URLRequest("http://www.3dcart.com"),"_blank");} OpenCartPage.addEventListener("click",openNewCart);
Is there a way that I can have it open a 5 pixel window that automatically closes after it loads? Also, is there a way to specify within the actionscript where on the screen I want the new window to open?
I'm newer to flash. What I'd like to do is have it add a product to the shopping cart and close back down.If I can't do it straight from flash, I'm sure I can have the flash page open up an html page which redirects to the add to cart page and automatically closes, but obviously a much bigger pain in the butt, and it will only work anyway if I can specify in the actionscript for it to open a 5 x 5 pixel window.

I have researched this and found lots of information but I am fairly new to actionscript and scripting in general. Here is what I am trying to do. I am working on a site that is already setup and ready to go. What I am creating is a very basic 15 second flash intro/flyer that will show up and eventually redirect to the main site. Like I said this is a very basic flash with basic tweening however my main issue is that we want this one picture to fill up the entire browser window without getting cut off no matter what resolution. I don't care how it is accomplished whether it is actionscript, java,

I'd like to know where to look for documentation on how to make elements that adjust to the site resolution, or what this technique is called.
Like in here (the floating clip on the left upper corner, there is a menu divided into 2 parts like float:left and :right (like I would make this in css))
[URL]
Basically I'd need a menu always aligned to the bottom-center of the page that won't change the size, but the background always stretched proportionally to the width of the page upon resizing.
