I almost finished a website for a customer, it's a full flash website running at almost 1024/768px...BUT this guy still use a lower screen resolution and tell me I have to resize evertything down...meaning a lot lot people will find this website ridiculously little.
View 6 RepliesI have a project that's 1024x768. However, on screens with a resolution of 1024x768, the users still have to scroll (the project is too big to fit in the browser window). Is there a way to allow scaling of the project only if it's too big for the user's window? I don't want the project to always scale to fit the window size. I only want to scale it down if it's too large to fit on screen without scrollbars.

View 1 RepliesThe problem that I'm facing is in regards to the width of a sliding menu that I've created. The menu slides based on mouse x position and width of the movie. I would like the menu to fit to the entire screen regardless of the users resolution. I wanted to know if there's a way to detect a users screen width and then adjust the variable for screen width within my actionscript .fla if necessary.
View 10 RepliesOk this is more of a math issue than an AS issue, but in flash player 10 you can have an area of less than 16777215 pixels in order to make a BitmapData. The problem is I have an image bigger than this and for some reason I can't logically develop an equation that will take an image bigger than the resolution and scale it down so it's right under it in, and was curious if anyone has done this before.
Example: if i was trying to get something under 5,000 pixels and I had an image 300x60 that is a resolution of 18,000 what multiplier would i use on the height and width of the image so it stays the same aspect ratio and stays under 5,000 pixels.
I am trying to figure out how to detect screen resolution through Flash.For example i want to move a "movieclip" to a specific point if the height of the screen resolution is smaller than 768.

View 1 RepliesWe have recently made a new Flash website for our company (URL...). The Flash module itself is 800 pixels tall. We have CSS that centers a div horizontally and vertically that's wrapped around the Flash module (you can see the source of URL...) and when someone is on a browser on a netbook or a smaller laptop (sub 15-inch, generally), they don't have enough vertical resolution (after the real estate used by the Windows start bar and browser toolbars) to see the entire site.Whether you view the html page I've made (again, at URL...) or you view the Flash module itself (URL...) the top of the Flash module clips off the top of the browser. (To see the problem if you don't have a small laptop, just don't maximize your browser window and shrink it's vertical height.)I understand why my CSS is behaving the way it is, due to the nature of the negative top margin, but is there any way to solve this issue?

View 5 RepliesI created a swf file for one my clients using a screen size of 1024px x 768px (4:3 ratio), now my client wants to re-use the video in a bigger screen (TV) that still uses a 4:3 ratio but the screen size is considerably bigger (I do not have the exact size yet). Do I need to recreate the flash file using images that fit the new screen size, or the fact that they both use a 4:3 aspect ratio means that the image quality will not suffer?

We are building an application in Flex where we have to scale and reposition the circles based on the changed screen resolutions. Example: Current resolution: (800, 600) I draw a circle at position (410,290) with radius 10 Now If i change the resolution of screen to (1440, 960) then the circle should be drawn at the same place on the screen with respect to the new resolution with relative increase in the radius.

When i publish the fla in flash only, it fits the screen exactly with no scroll bar but when i publish in html the flash content is bigger than screen size and menu bar stays outside the screen in the way that i have to scroll down to see menu contents and tabs.In order to make this site more user friendly I have tried to resize the screen to a smaller but seems to be not a good idea. View 2 RepliesI am developing a flash based website using mxml. My monitor's resolution is 1280x768 and is widescreen. The problem is while it appears properly in my screen it doesn't appear properly in others.
-Let scrollbars take care of it : If the screen is 14 inch screen with 800x600 resolution it appears zoomed in. So that's a problem
-Get screen resolution and resize using scaleX and scaleY : The graphic components will get resized but fonts give problem.
We are building a flash based product (coded in flash builder) and need to ensure that the font size is readable for all standard screen resolutions- we coded fontsize to be a fraction of screen dimensions... still we find that it looks smaller on low resolution and larger on higher resolution
we dont have this problem with other assets like containers/images etc
why this happens? Any thoughts on how we can make it uniform across screen resolutions?
I'm workin on a multimedia CD that I'm creating entirely with Flash. I have just ncorporated 2 video files. They play in the flash players fine but when I click on the Full Screen mode it blows the video up way to big to the point were I can only see a small section of it.

Which will scale my app to full screen and show the entire app with no cropping, however may leave borders on the left and right. Which it does I'm wondering if there is a way to remove or at least set the color of those borders, they are currently white. Its a big wide 2" section on the left only in my case.

I would like to try to build a big site - something like facebook () but in flash. What is the optimal resolution for this mission? I'm planning to do the integration like that:
Flash AS3.0---XML--->PHP---SQL--->MySQL---Data--->PHP---XML--->Flash AS3.0
What classes should I pay attention for? I want to apply the aforementioned integration for anything: Login the user, read messages etc. I think the "loyal" way to transfer data is with XML, but for a short and simple (username and password only) Login- maybe in fact the best way is GET method? or still XML? I heard the best way is to create one function for the Integration-how do u think to do it?
I have researched this and found lots of information but I am fairly new to actionscript and scripting in general. Here is what I am trying to do. I am working on a site that is already setup and ready to go. What I am creating is a very basic 15 second flash intro/flyer that will show up and eventually redirect to the main site. Basically I'd need a menu always aligned to the bottom-center of the page that won't change the size, but the background always stretched proportionally to the width of the page upon resizing.
