I had done a swf content for some major resolution ..flash800.swf,flash1200.swf,flash1600.swf. I load a swf at first which detects the x resolution of a screen and then loads appropriate content. the problem is that tke decision-making swf loads that flash movie into itself , so I have to do the checking resolution swf the maximum width and height the same as in the biggest (flash1600.swf) movie loaded into it....that makes all my work meaningless.

I am thinking of having 2 diff. versions of images in an XML driven photo gallery. The flash movie is full browser (no scale) with elements that adjust to the size of the browser window. I'd like some of the images to be presented pretty large, but only if the user has enough screen resolution. If using a smaller screen, then it would display the smaller version.
Anyway to do this efficiently (yes I am prepared to upload 2 different versions of each image)? Or is this a bad idea with too much maintenance?

Anybody has an idea how to accomplish something similar with the gallery in this website?
I have an XML gallery in my project that has pre-specified numbers of columns.
- How it could be possible to detect user's screen resolution (use of Event.RESIZE?) and according to this to change the number of columns - and of course rows?
Forgot to mention that I load records from a database so I am not aware of the total number of images...

Just want to find out something... I have a .swf video file which I open with the normal Adobe Flash player 10. What happens is that when I open that file in a smaller screen resolution there's some parts missing (cuts it off around the edges).
How can I resize the content to fit in any screen resolution?

Below is the image my flash file as it is right now on my browser window. I want the black area to stretch all the way to the edge of the browser instead of being confined to the stage size. I can't just simply use html to make black areas to the left and right of the flash document because the black is not there from the beginning but rather stretches itself from a line in the beginning of the movie.

I have a scalable flash for the most part the site works okay. The problem I am NOW having is I can't get my external .swf files to load in the center of the site based not on the flash stage height and width but the browser / screen resolution height and width... This is what I have so far and it is not working for me..
// detects width of end users browser
var resX:int=flash.system.Capabilities.screenResolutionX;
trace(resX);
[code]....

The problem that I'm facing is in regards to the width of a sliding menu that I've created. The menu slides based on mouse x position and width of the movie. I would like the menu to fit to the entire screen regardless of the users resolution. I wanted to know if there's a way to detect a users screen width and then adjust the variable for screen width within my actionscript .fla if necessary.

Is there any way to scale up stage according to user's screen resolution?
because:
stage.align = StageAlign.TOP_LEFT; stage.scaleMode = StageScaleMode.NO_SCALE;
and width: 100% in html document
doesn't work when screen is widther than flash site.
I managed to size up stage in AS2 but I have no idea how to do that in AS3.

I have a flash application that utilizes a lot of popup title windows that do not have parent containers. I'm having a problem when users with smaller resolutions try to use my application because the popup utility windows will often be too large. Note that I do not want to re-size the window as that would eliminate a lot of it's clarity and separation of menu bars and tool icons. I just want my application to detect if the window has a height or width property greater than that of the browser's view frame and then activate the respective scroll bar should it be needed.

I am working on a Flash app that is 900x700 pixels. When viewed in misc. browsers at 1024x768, the browser chrome causes robs too much of the vertical space and the app appears in a window with a vertical scrollbar. Unacceptable.
The flash app will be launched via a link emailed to the viewers.
I'd like to avoid resizing the flash app and am wondering if there's a way to do the following via javascript, with no clicks involved:maximize the current browser window remove current window address bar and tabs / switch browser to full screen view (equivalent to pressing F11).
An alternative would be to resize the flash app vertically to match the browser canvas height to avoid scrolling. This may cause the app to become unreadable, so not the best approach in my case.
UPDATE: Seems that browser resizing and autoswitch to full screen won't work and neither will the flash app auto resize. What is the best approach then? And, some users may have browsers with toolbars or open a small browser window.
The only idea I have is to use javascript and display a message to users with small browser windows to pres F11 manually. The audience is executes and some may not even know what an F11 means...

I load my movie with loadmovie and when the swf plays on the frame, the whole website shifts to the left. My code is very simple
stop();
myMC.loadMovie("youtubeplayer.swf");
myMC2.loadMovie("hyper_youtube_version.swf");[code].....
When I load the myMC2.loadmovie Hyper_youtube_version.swf, the whole website shifts to the left. Plays fine but I cant figure out why its doing that. When I load a regular player....it works but but the new player I got hyper_youtube_version.swf is loaded, it doesnt seem to work.

I have a stop in the first frame of the movie. So when you open the movie there is a black screen (first two frames only) with two buttons, a start and a stop. click the start the movie plays. when made into pdf and opened the movie plays automaticly no black screen and the buttons do not work.

Is a command for AS2 to make my movie file play fullscreen (stretch, fit to screen, anything).
goFullScreen(); is great but it leaves white bars left and right. What's odd is that I'm using Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder and it seems to display a perfect widescreen that I want as an input and output but once compiled in flash, it's more square leaving me with white bars left and right. The frame for the video in flash is also widescreen looking.
edit: I ended up stretching the width of the frame but if there is a better way through a command that would make my life easier so I don't have to adjust to every monitor that I run this on.

My question is what needs to be done in order to make a .swf file go into full screen without falling to a black screen when a movie is played? I have tried coding it, however I come up with the following error.
[Code]....
What should I do to fix this? This is not going to be an HTML file, however, so the initial thought of changing the publish settings does not seem to work this time.

I have researched this and found lots of information but I am fairly new to actionscript and scripting in general. Here is what I am trying to do. I am working on a site that is already setup and ready to go. What I am creating is a very basic 15 second flash intro/flyer that will show up and eventually redirect to the main site. Like I said this is a very basic flash with basic tweening however my main issue is that we want this one picture to fill up the entire browser window without getting cut off no matter what resolution. I don't care how it is accomplished whether it is actionscript, java,
