ActionScript 3.0 :: Logged In Facebook Users Name/pic In A SWF?
Oct 23, 2011
I just started checking out using actionscript and facebook API documentation. I was wondering how I could display a facebook users name and profile picture in my SWF so when the user visits my site it shows their info (they will already be logged in)?

I want to make a game where a user logs in. Once the user logs in, they have access to a database (let's just say a database of weapons). They could choose a certain amount of "weapons" and every time they log in, they still have the same weapons, regardless of cookies, because the "weapons" are linked to their username. Then the users could use their weapons to battle other users. Also, the user's username keeps track of their wins and losses. I have newb to basic flash knowledge (I took an animations class); I could animate, make buttons, websites, etc. Does anyone have some insight that could point me in the right direction?

Here is my situation, everytime a user gets a new highscore, i wanna send a facebook message into my game account, and i've managed to do that with infinite session, i've stored the session data with the attributes of my account and always connects directly to my profile and posts it.
Now imagine that i want to do the same thing, but with another profile, is it possible to user the same application? Any ideas how would i identify the different accounts before logging in?
Or do i have to have different facebook programs doing the same things for different account?

I'm working on a Flash/Facebook game. My swf and socket server are on different domains, so I have to use a socket policy file. According to Adobe, they have "filed with IANA, the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority, to reserve port 843 for the purposes of serving socket policy files." Unfortunately, my server has port 843 closed. I asked my server guy to open the port. Here's his reply:
[quote]One of the points Matt mentioned is even if we open that particular port how would you ensure the scores of people accessing this game from their schools, libraries or even people internal to OurCompany will have connectivity on the port. Let me explain, in order for traffic to flow on port 843 from the browser to the smart fox server, the users ISP also has to allow for that traffic to pass outbound from the users browser. It is possible that several users would not be able to run it, is that risk acceptable ?[/quote]
How common is it for ISPs to block port 843? I assumed that, since this is an Adobe standard, that ISPs would now have it open by default. What's the scoop?

I'm using the the Adobe ActionScript 3 SDK for Facebook Platform to get all the tagged photos of the current user. Is this possible?
I've tried this:
FacebookDesktop.api("/"+uid+"/photos",getTagedPhotosHandler);
But that only gets me the photos belonging to that user.

I'm currently building an application using the Adobe Facebook API and I've run into an issue where for the login method the Facebook login popup displays but when doing a Facebook share/post the popup is blocked.
This code works fine and displays me a Facebook login popup without question (Firefox):
var permissions:Array = ['publish_stream'];
Facebook.login( onFacebookLogin, { perms:permissions.join(',') } );
However, the following code running in the same application throws up a popup blocker (again Firefox):
Facebook.ui( "stream.publish", "popup", params );
Does anyone know of a work around this issue to make the share popup come up just like the login popup?

I am trying to secure my Flex application within my Java web application. Currently my Java web application, handles logging and managing user accounts and the like. I was wondering if there is a way to essentially share that user credentials with the Flash movie in a secure mechanism? For instance, if you log in, we want you to be able to save items in the Flex application for that user, only if that user is logged in of course. I'm running Tomcat 5.5, Java 6 doing portlet development inside a Vignette Portal. All data communication is via Blaze DS. In our environment, we have data services and the portal handles logins, user management and the like. Currently we are simply passing down the username to the flash movie, which I don't feel is very secure.

I want to check if a user is logged using sendandload from flash to php. This is code I'm using
Code:
var obj:Object = new Object();
function getLoggedStatus() {
//Impelement XML SendAndLoad/////
varSender = new LoadVars();
varReceiver = new LoadVars();
[Code] .....
When I test the code
trace("returning "+this.islogged); which is inside the onload function traces after trace(logStatus.islogged); which is inside onRelease of the button. So logStatus is undefined. How can I eliminate this.

Here's the battle plan:
User logs into website.
User clicks the Play button and a new window opens with the flash game in it.
If the user is logged into website, have the flash game load. Otherwise ask him for credentials.
Is this type of interconnectivity possible? Can I give a flash object (.swf) something to use?

I'm trying to determine the practical difference between using the com.facebook.session.WebSession and com.facebook.session.JSSession. The documentation ([URL]) has more around WebSession - but the example I have which is closest to what solution I'm trying to implement uses JSSession and it looks like I could avoid all of the JavaScript pass-through & ExternalInterface calls I'm making. It appears that the benefit of using this new ActionScript Facebook API is to avoid having to make all of the Facebook calls via JavaScript.

I have literally spent HOURS trying to solve this mystery... but simply can't seem to get hold of it.
I am using the same code lines (literally!) as the example here (official adobe tutorial) and I get different result.

Everything works fine, i.e. everything till it is time to fire the loggedin event. I get asked to log in and all permissions are asked correctly. After I log myself in to facebook, the loggedin event doesn't fire. Is there any way of solving this problem??

But there is a strange problem, after about 2 minutes of inactivity if I try to perform any operation I see that my channelset has been been forcefully logged out Is there some configuration which I need to do in order to prevent this from happening. I tried adding this in my web.xml, so that the session persists but it didnt help my cause.

So I need to share this video on the user timeline. Everything works fine but the video is not embedded in the post on his timeline, there is only a post with the link to the page in it.The weird thing is, if I post the url directly on my timeline, the video is embedded, but not if the same link is posted via the application.here is my code called by the share button in js :

I've recently used the 'Static HTML' application to add autoplaying flash content to a Facebook Page.Nothing too fancy, no sound, and only a few secs long. Now, Facebook say:-"Apps on Pages must not host media that plays automatically without a user's interaction."
What do they mean by 'Media' exactly? I can understand a ban on autoplaying audio content but does the ban extend to something as harmless as an animated GIF? Or more to the point, does an autoplaying .swf file fall under this?
Lastly, what course of action would Facebook take if I did violate this rule? Would they issue a warning (giving me an opportunity to remove the 'offending' item) or would they just shut down my page without any consultation?

I can't find in the Adobe Facebook API how to log the user out of Facebook. The FacebookSessionUtil (and the related sessions and Facebook classes) all have a .logout() function, which will invalidate the user's current *session* within the swf, but it doesn't log the user out of Facebook.
What am I missing here? How are you supposed to log the user out of Facebook with this API? Since it's part of the TOS for Facebook Connect apps, you'd think this would be available in the API somewhere.

After I upload a photo on a desktop facebook application i need to store it's post id in a database. From the facebook ActionScript SDK documentation:pi() methodpublic static function api(method:String, callback:Function, params:* = null, requestMethod:String = GET):voidMakes a new request on the Facebook Graph API.Parameters [...]callback:Function — Method that will be called when this request is complete The handler must have the signature of callback(result:Object, fail:Object); On success, result will be the object data returned from Facebook. On fail, result will be null and fail will contain information about the error.
So I implemented my callback function as follows:
protected function handleUploadComplete(response:Object, fail:Object):void{
status = (response) ? 'Success' : 'Error';

I need to have access to the logged in user throughout a flash application. Therefor I'm concidering making the 'user' variable global.
I usually try to avoid global variables, but it seems quite suitable in this case and I'm not the first to concider the active user as a global. I know that systems like drupal also uses a global variable for the logged in user.I want to know if stackoverflow thinks of this as bad practice or if there are better alternatives.

Example: If my SWF has a simple 2D charactor sprite, which moves around on a 2d background... What will I need to make it so that a player has to create an account and sign in, and then others can do the same and they can all see each other in the room. I have been unable to find resources on what it takes to turn a flash game into a chatroom or an "MMO".
