Professional :: Some Users Are Getting No Data?

We are having some issues with some Flash on our site. Some users are getting no data in the blue arrow and the water rises to the top (see screen shot) when they bring up this page [URL]This is the actionscript that we are using

var levelVar:Number; if (_level0.inLevel == undefined) {     levelVar = Number (0); } else {     levelVar = Number (_level0.inLevel); } if (levelVar <= 2007) {     gotoAndPlay ("fr2007");     m2007_mc.t2007_txt.text = levelVar; } else if ((levelVar <= 2017) && (levelVar > 2007)) {     gotoAndPlay ("fr2017");     m2017_mc.t2017_txt.text = levelVar; } else if ((levelVar <= 2027) && (levelVar > 2017)) {     gotoAndPlay ("fr2027");     m2027_mc.t2027_txt.text = levelVar; } else

Flash :: Flex - Adobe Player Cache: Does Data Persist Across Different Users Of A System

Sep 16, 2009

Does anyone know if adobe flash player cache data is available to other users on a system? For example: A user logs onto Windows XP, then uses my adobe flex application... and in the process of doing so downloads the signed flex lib... He then decides to mow the lawn and log off. At about 3pm the same day, his Mum can't hear the TV over the sound of the mower, so she decides to log in using a different XP user account. She proceeds to use the very same flex application. Does she also need to download the flex lib again, or would the data already be cached in the flash player?

Professional :: Website Users To Change .swf Background With Button Click?

Nov 29, 2010

With the aid of Dreamweaver CS4 I've manged to create a temp 'under construction website'. This website has a fullscreen .swf looping in the background.

I have made 4 of these very short looping .swf files.Is it possible, by adding one simple button on the screen, for the user click and the next .swf background starts playing? So basically this button acts a 'next' button, and each times it's clicked the next .swf starts to play.

Ps: check out the source code. The flash background code starts from '<!-- flash background -->'.

Professional :: Input Data From A Frontend Site Into A Backend SWF, Pull Data, Then Send Back To Front?

Aug 31, 2011

I have a site with an SWF that I can put some metrics into, such as ZIP Code, Weight, etc..    then, it takes that info and gives me shipping rates.

I need to build a front-end site that I can have a forms page that will push data to the backend SWF, and then return the data back from the SWF to the front end.

Front-end -> SWF (Zip Code, Weight, Size) -> *Calculates* -> Front-End

That should be the flow..     So I need to send data to the backend, GET the data that it calculated, and return the results to my front-end.

Professional :: "NaN" (or Maybe With "if" And "else") - Users To Have To Enter Text Into Every Field

Jan 23, 2011

I am putting together an office space calculator. I have several text fields that will be added together to give a "Total" answer. I do not want users to have to enter text into every field. For instance, a section of the calculator will calculate "Coffee Area" space. If there is no "coffee area" in their office, this text input is useless and needs no input. However, I noticed that empty text fields return a NaN in my Total field. Obviously, this will not do. I worked out a script like such to fix that:

Now, the file pageDetails.xml does exist in the appropriate folder with the following, essentially identical to the above comment:

Professional :: Associate Data With MovieClips?

Feb 9, 2010

I'm trying to make an animated map showing points on a map as they appear over time.I've got a few hundred locations in a spreadsheet with lat/longs.  I have a plugin from Avenza for Illustrator that lets me plot the points, and then of course I can import them into Flash.  The problem is that when I move them to Flash, all of the attributes, including the year (which I need to animate them) is stripped away.

I can easily enough get pixel coordinates in Flash at this point, but the problem is I don't know anything about these points now.  I'm having to look at them, one at a time, in Flash and Illustrator, then manually hard code each individual point to tell it where it appear on the timeline in Flash.  This isn't going to work.

Professional :: Where Does Buffered Data Get Written To

Mar 12, 2010

When recording a video to FMIS if the stream is buffered, does this get buffered in memory or does it use up local storage?

I am developing an application that will use a web cam to record videos which will then be submitted to the server. Ideally I would have liked to write the video to disk first and then upload later however, I understand that I can't do this with flash (my solution has to be in browser AIR apps aren't an option). I am ultimately concerned about video quality so in order to ensure that I loose as few frames as possible I'm planning on setting NetStream.bufferTime to a large value. I am concerned however that someone with a poor internet connection and a good webcam will quickly use up local storage assuming that it is set to the default of 100K.

If this is the case then I potentially need to think again about my approach - maybe even look into Silverlight 4, or at the very least try and explain to my users how to go into flash settings and set local storage to be unlimited.

Professional :: Import Table Of Data To FLA?

Jul 14, 2010

I am at the point where I'd  like to incorporate tables of attribute  data specific to my movie  clips.  For example, tables of demographic  info specific to US  counties.  I'd like to make these data queriable by  clicking on a  specific county (mc).  I've been reading some tutorials  and it sounds  like I should convert my data to xml (from a CSV or XLS)  and then import  the XML to my stage and start learning the ins/outs of  calling on its  values.

Am  I starting down the right path?  First off, I've not found a very   straightforward way to get my data into XML.  It originates in a DBF and i could easily convert it to tab-del text, csv or anything else.Also,  should i rethink where I am starting with this and not use XML  altogether, maybe using something else?

Professional :: Saving And Loading Data To/from SWF?

Jul 23, 2010

I have created a simple flash animation for my employer. I basically have a square that changes color depending on which of three buttons are clicked. This is replicated about 30 times on the page. There is also about 15 circles that have a toggle button created so that when you click on the circle, they change between two colors. As I said, a very simple application.

Now, I need to save the data so that whenever someone new opens the swf, the current color combination is displayed. My way of thinking, with my limited AS3 experience, is that each button click, in addition to changing the color of a movie clip, should also send the data to a server. Then when someone opens the application fresh, I can use the URLLoader to load the most current data.

Am I on the right track, or am I missing it completely? I think I can figure out the URLLoader, but what code would I use to create the text file or xml file?Here is a snippet of my code:

var rtmColor:ColorTransform = f13335.transform.colorTransform;
var okColor:ColorTransform = f13335.transform.colorTransform;
var usColor:ColorTransform = f13335.transform.colorTransform;

[code].....

By clicking on either the rtm_13335, ok_13335, or us_13335 buttons, they will change the f13335 movie clip to the appropriate color (blue, green, or red). The default color is green.

What I would like to do is make the movie clip red, for example, then another person opens the swf, and the movie clip is red as opposed to the default green because I saved the current state to a text or xml file.

Professional :: Saving Data To Server Via SWF?

Jul 26, 2010

I have in mind a very basic swf file that allows someone to enter data (via dynamic text box), submit this data (via php), which in turns saves it as a file on the Server. This file (.txt) would be used to populate text on the main site. Most of this seems quite straight forward, and standard practice, apart from actually saving the data as a particular file and on the server (or overriding an existing file), which I'm sure comes up against problems such as FTP access and everything else, but I was wondering if someone might have an insight on how this could be done?

Professional :: Adding Data To XML Objects?

how to add completely new data to XML data I'm holding in a var.

I'm importing XML data into an editor I'm creating.  The XML looks like this:

<itemList_120>
<mediaFile order="1" playTime='2' transIn='1' transOut='9'>gif.gif</mediaFile>  <mediaFile order="2" playTime='1' transIn='6' transOut='8'>jpg.jpg</mediaFile>

Rather than change existing XML data, how do I add completely new data?  ie, if the above var held two "mediaFile" lines of XML, how do I add or insert a third?

Professional :: Saving Local Data In Flash?

Jan 20, 2010

I'm using Flash CS4 & Actionscript 3.0 to create a grid with different objects that a user can move with the mouse. This is a standalone application meant to be used on a Windows machine. Is there a way to download and save the user's responses (viz. location of mouse, type of object clicked, etc.) onto the local computer without using the Flash Debugger?

I came across an article [URL] which states that it is possible to save local data onto a user's computer without a backend script (e.g. php) in Flash Player 10 but the article doesn't really say how this is done.

Professional :: Save Data Inside The SWF File?

Aug 28, 2010

As part of a project I am working on, I would like to know if it would be possible to store some data in the actual flash file.

Let me make this clear now... I DO NOT WANT TO USE COOKIES!

I need to be able to save some data to the SWF itself, NOT to the local computer.

To be more specific, I need to store a set of URL's, but they also need to be added by the file, so...

Lets say i have a button that when you click, will make a text box appear, and you type in some urls such as:

[URL]

I then have a button that says "Save" and this will save these 3 URL's. I then would have the SAME SWF display these URL's (these will be URLs of Images). The important part is, these 3 URLs MUST BE READ by everyone who views the swf afterwards, so if I were to enter some URLS of Images, when someone else views the page, they will see the images that i entered. This is why it cannot be a cookie, as their computer will not see my cookie.

Even if the data cant be stored in the SWF itself, i will need some way to load this information where ever the swf is viewed.
