ActionScript 3.0 :: Listening For Focus As User Tabs Using Screen Reader?
Jul 27, 2009
I'm trying to build accessibility into a slideshow that will work in Window Eyes on a PC/IE7. The user will tab in order over a button for each slide. It all works except for I'd like to show the image on the stage when they tab to the button. I thought if I could listen for the tab, I could execute a function to change the image. But that doesn't seem to work. Should I scan for a change in which button is focused on? I'm not sure how to do that..

im creating a presentation that has a bunch of links to websites and pdf files. right now the presentation opens fullscreen when first opened but if the user clicks one of the pdf or web links the clip minimizes and if the user tries to maximize the flash window the menu bar at the top is visible and cuts off some of the content.
is it possible to detect when the user tabs away from the presentation so the clip will pause automatically and i can tell the user to click to continue? i know this code will work fscommand ("fullscreen", "true"); that will make the presentation fullscreen again but i need the movie to pause if the user clicks a link. i have seen this before in games where the game will pause if i tab to another program and i have to click to continue.

In my application the browser window connect with long polling(comet) with the server. If the user open several browser tabs, only one of them(called the master) communicate with the server and serves as a proxy for the other tabs. I want to use flash localConnection to exchange data between the tabs. What happens when a user closes the master tab that holds the comet session? I can use javascript with the unload event to inform the other tabs that the master tab is closing and then close the localConnection but the unload event is unreliable. I can use polling to monitor the master tab connection object but it sound dirty.
When the master is closed one of the other tabs need to become the master. How do I make sure only one of them tries to become the master? If a user close the tab without flash being able to close the localConnection, will it cause a memory leak?

I am trying to write the code for making a text input control in flex. As the user enters the value in text input control and then if he removes the typed characters to make the text input blank, then I print error message via StringValidator. But I want the focus to be set on that text input only until the user enters anything. How can I achieve that?

I have made a javascript/flash system to play sound effects on an AJAX-based game I have made. For some reason, on some systems (it appears to be just Firefox 3 on Windows XP), users can only hear the sound effects play while the window is in focus. If they minimize the window or are looking at a different window the sound effects don't play.

In my flash movie, every time when I click on a button, it takes focus off of the stage. And I have to reclick the stage in order to interact with it again. Is there away to fix this issue. I am making a game and it will be very annoying if the player has to keep reclicking the stage in order to take control of the game every time they click on a button.

Is there any way to scale up stage according to user's screen resolution?
because:
stage.align = StageAlign.TOP_LEFT; stage.scaleMode = StageScaleMode.NO_SCALE;
and width: 100% in html document
doesn't work when screen is widther than flash site.
I managed to size up stage in AS2 but I have no idea how to do that in AS3.

expanding/collapsing panel of 4 windows with motion tweens & mind-boggling XY coords, the client has come back with an 'idea'. Is it possible to dictate a movie state depending on the user's screen size?eg - someone is on 1024x768 so the box state sets to 'minimise' to fit into the screen. If someone else is using 1280x1024 then the box sets to 'maximise'.

I have a project that's 1024x768. However, on screens with a resolution of 1024x768, the users still have to scroll (the project is too big to fit in the browser window). Is there a way to allow scaling of the project only if it's too big for the user's window? I don't want the project to always scale to fit the window size. I only want to scale it down if it's too large to fit on screen without scrollbars.

I need to develop, what would be like, a projector screen that the user could pull down, read what is on it, and click to "roll" back up. I know how to do the interaction with the mouse and all, but how do I make the object "grow" so it is hidden when it is "rolled" up and slowly reveals itself like a projector screen would?

have a question. Is it possible to detect whether the user used or is using ctrl+scroll to enlarge the screen? I was looking at an example of a mouse avoiding game, which could easily be cheated on using ctrl+scroll, so that the passages were larger etc.
Is there any way to detect this inside Flash, and perhaps prevent it?

Anybody has an idea how to accomplish something similar with the gallery in this website?
I have an XML gallery in my project that has pre-specified numbers of columns.
- How it could be possible to detect user's screen resolution (use of Event.RESIZE?) and according to this to change the number of columns - and of course rows?
Forgot to mention that I load records from a database so I am not aware of the total number of images...
