Flash :: Setting Up Amazon Web Services Media Interactive Server
Apr 24, 2011
I've been trying to set up an instance of Flash Media Interactive Server on Amazon Web Services for an AVChat (avchat.net). I signed up for the service here:[URL] I have some simple questions on getting it started --- namely: do I create the FMIS instance myself now that I've signed up, or do I need to go ahead and create it? I see under the EC2 tab I can create an instance under 'Community AMIs' for adobe-flashmediaserver-useast/fms-4.0.1.8011-centos-5.5-ami-1.manifes t.xml Is this what I want? I realize this is a bit of a noob question.
once installed what I'm trying to do is to add a folder for AVChat into /opt/macromedia/fms/applications/ ([URL]). I am assuming that once I do have this instance running, I can move/modify files on the server instance.
I have just started using Adobe Flash Media Server on Amazon Web Services. Does anyone know how can I monitor server statistics such as the number of active connections? I have connected using SSH to the server but I cannot know what to do from this point on?
Installed fms4 x64 on windows server 2008 to try it out. When I open up task manager to check processes running, FMSCore process does not run [URL] found this in the knowledge base but step3 "Run this program As Administrator" checkbox is greyed out so I cannot do anything. I have stopped and restarted service so many time, rebooted server at least twice. Even the video that's supposed to play when you click the start screen is not playing.
Set the Flash Media Server services to Run as AdministratorComplete the following steps for each of the following files located in the Flash Media Server root installation folder (C:/Program Files/Adobe/Flash Media Server, by default): FMSAdmin.exeFMSCore.exeFMSMaster.exeFMSEdge.exeRight-click the file and chooseProperties. Select the Compatibility tab and click Change Settings For All Users. Select Run This Program As Administrator. Click Apply, and then click OK. Complete these steps for each Flash Media Server service. Restart the computer. Flash Media Server starts when the computer starts.
I'm trying to develop a p2p (RTMFP) webcam chat application with AS3 and FMS. For test purposes I've been using "rtmfp://p2p.rtmfp.net" and now I'll use FMS on Amazon AWS.hat I couldn't understand is which application type should I use on FMS? There is four preconfigured application types on FMS, these are live, livepkgr, multicast and vod. I guess live or multicast but I cannot choose between them, I'm a little bit confused. Or maybe I don't have to setup any application? My application scenerio is; a user will connect to FMS and webservice and will get other person's farID from webservice and will be on audio/video chat with remote side as he sends stream. (with one person) Pretty much like sample Cirrus application. Also I've another issue, I also want to publish one person's (consultant in my case) video to several people (customers) at the same time (one to many), customers won't publish any video or audio, they'll only watch and hear consultant. Can I use RTMFP and P2P for that? I guess it will insanely increase publishers bandwidth needs, so should I use streaming on FMS and let customers to get stream from FMS
I have to a problem using the Flash Media Interactive Server Feature Explorer. I want use the sample: RecordStream. I can see the instance "RecordStream" in console FMS 3.5. and show me the video in app AIR, but does not save the .FLV in my server.
We will only use the servers for Live streaming and VoDs, so far no plan for any complex applications to be deployed on the servers yet. As far as I understand, the bottleneck of streaming servers are with network connection rather than CPU or resources (servers are only support up to 4GB of RAM anyway).
I'm building a video conferencing applicaition for a portal. But now when considering which version of flash media server to buy, I run into some problem. So can anyone helps me about comparing this two versions: Flash Media Streaming Server and Flash Media Interactive server, like if I use Flash Media Streaming Server, some function like NetStream.pause() may not work or something like that? I'm not sure if this is a foolish question but please let me know.
have been searching throughout forums looking for an easy effecitve way to set up authenication between Flash media interactive server and flash media live encoder such that we dont have any rogue publishers. I see alot of people talking about the fact that it can be done but have yet to find a document or post that outlines the modules needed and procudures to make work. Does anyone have a good link that outlines this or document
Wondering if I'm allowed to modify and save the flash ami "adobe-flashmediaserver-useast/fms-4.0.1.8011-centos"?It'd be nice to not have to reinstall and configure everything every time I run an instance.
Beside Flash Media Encoder, can I use a live stream from Windows Media Services? We have live streaming with Windows Media Server, but now want also offer to mobile devices, but we dont re-encode the entire streams (tvs) again, it would be great if we can use a stream from windows to tunnel it to flash media server.
We have a problem with amazon FMS 4.0.3 server for enable muticast. In the server we have open all the port for ensure the good works.but when we used the http://public-dns/multicast/multicastplayer/multicastplayer.html, we have this message : The connection attempt to FMS failed. In the server administration we can view the Flash Media Live Encoder session but the multicastplayer cannot connect on the rtmfp://public-dns/multicas
I managed to run the FMS on an EC2 instance and I am able to use admin console. So I think I can say, that the server is running. Now I want to connect to the multicast application, which is delivered with the FMS as an example, via RTMFP. I can't get it to work... With an FMS 4.5 development server I didn't experience such problems. It seems to be a problem with the AWS. It might be, that I missed something to configure
Does anyone know of any issues with running FMS on Amazon's EC2 Cloud environment? We're running some live streaming applications, but are hearing reports from users of random disconnects.
Are the RTMFP connection limits for the FMS AMI hard limits? What will happen when the limit is reached, will the server just refuse new rtmfp connections?
I looking for a hosting of FMS for a video conferencing application. Each flex application will be able to connect a camera and microphone and broadcast it to Flash Media Interactive Server. Listner will play the published live stream. First I thougt I will be able to do so over Amazon Web Services Content Delivery Network Cloud Front, but it looks that this is for playing stored files only. May you please give me some names of hosting providers that have presence in US, Europe and if possible other places?
I just set up a new copy of the official Adobe Amazon Machine Image for FMS4.One show stopper: it seems to require a license key in fms.ini, just like any other FMS4 install. The master log file has "invalid license key" in it. We tried giving it the "Activation key" no dice. There's a license directory in /opt/adobe/fms with 3 .bin files. We tried entering the path to that directory for the license no dice. The docs don't say anything about it.I've spent over 3 hours being transferred around Adobe and listening to elevator music(code).........
I have created a live stream using Amazon Web Services and Adobe Flash Media Server 4.5.AWS provides me with both a .f4m and .m3u8 file, to use in <object><embed> and <video> tags, respectively. The .f4m loads fine on my desktop browser, and the .m3u8 file loads fine on my iOS device. However, my Android devices will not load either file. What code/solutions are there to get this to play on Android devices?[code]
I am currently connecting to a Web Service (wsdl) with no problems over HTTP.However as soon as I try to connect over HTTPS, my WebSerrvice object queues up the call and sits there forever. What configuration needs to be done in FMS2 to allow outbound WebService calls to be made using SSL?
I am thinking about making a web site that streams HD movies and videos that I have created myself. I was wonder could you use Adobe Flash Media Interactive Server 3.5 to do so I know i would have to buy a dedicated server and a fast one with a good load of bandwidth. The big question am asking is that can you base a website or content management system around the interactive server.
Only the Flash Media Enterprise Server(FMES) has the "RTMFP peer introduction services" [URL] influxis created SmartMesh which enables p2p in Flash Media Interactive Server(FMiS). [URL] I couldn't find info on what does the peer introduction service do, what is the difference in capabilities of FMiS and FMES and what is the difference between RTMFP unicast and RMTFP multicast. Is it possible to create a p2p rtmfp connection between two clients with FMiS assuming I have a webservice that help clients exchange FarID?
i have a orgin server and 2 edge servers and a load balancer
first off im confused in each edge server i set them to be remote, rtmp and changed the routeentry to <RouteEntry>*:*;96.44.***.***:1935</RouteEntry> on both servers
orgin server is just local
what my question is im streaming to orgin and its getting sent to 1 edge and other edge is doing nothing no traffic the stream i set it this way url:
'rtmp://173.254.***.***/live/live_test',
which is the 1 edge thats working if i setup another channel pointing to the other edge server ip adresss it doesnt work.. what am i doing wrong isnt all this supposed to be load balanced or am i missing steps...or did i do it wrong on the flash player config.
Is there some FMS-specific reason why a sendAndLoad function in SSAS couldn't connect to a site on an IP address? Are there any configurations that would need to be set to allow/deny this type of connection? We have a server instance that can only connect to sites hosted on fully qualified domains.
I understand that the Flash Interactiver Server has this feature called 'Adobe Media Player Tracking Service' which the free version dosen't have. Any idea what ' Adobe Media Player Tracking Service' is and what it does
I've installed FLASH MEDIA DEVELOPMENT SERVER 4 for testing. I wonder if there is a way to disable Stratus/Cirrus peer introduction services included in this version of FMS, because I need to simulate Flash Media Interactive Server 4 (not the Enterprise version) to adjust my application properly for cheaper solution.I am using NetStream.DIRECT_CONNECTIONS and I want to test, what are the differences of usage and how to do it right, even implement a fallback, when no peer introduction services are working on the server.
I would like to build a video conferencing app that supports H.264. Is there a way to use Flash to do that? I understand that Flash natively supports the Sorensen Spark video codec and that you need to use Flash Live Encoder 3 for H.264 encoding. I can't seem to find any documentation that shows me how to use FLE3 with ActionScript.
