I have just started using Adobe Flash Media Server on Amazon Web Services. Does anyone know how can I monitor server statistics such as the number of active connections? I have connected using SSH to the server but I cannot know what to do from this point on?

I signed up for the service here:[URL] I have some simple questions on getting it started --- namely: do I create the FMIS instance myself now that I've signed up, or do I need to go ahead and create it? I see under the EC2 tab I can create an instance under 'Community AMIs' for adobe-flashmediaserver-useast/fms-4.0.1.8011-centos-5.5-ami-1.manifes t.xml Is this what I want? I realize this is a bit of a noob question.
once installed what I'm trying to do is to add a folder for AVChat into /opt/macromedia/fms/applications/ ([URL]). I am assuming that once I do have this instance running, I can move/modify files on the server instance.
Has anyone tried using flash media server 4 on Amazon web service? I was wondering what your experience was and the costs of running it?
View 1 RepliesI have created a live stream using Amazon Web Services and Adobe Flash Media Server 4.5.AWS provides me with both a .f4m and .m3u8 file, to use in <object><embed> and <video> tags, respectively.The .f4m loads fine on my desktop browser, and the .m3u8 file loads fine on my iOS device. However, my Android devices will not load either file. What code/solutions are there to get this to play on Android devices?[code]

For test purposes I've been using "rtmfp://p2p.rtmfp.net" and now I'll use FMS on Amazon AWS.hat I couldn't understand is which application type should I use on FMS? There is four preconfigured application types on FMS, these are live, livepkgr, multicast and vod. I guess live or multicast but I cannot choose between them, I'm a little bit confused. Or maybe I don't have to setup any application?My application scenerio is; a user will connect to FMS and webservice and will get other person's farID from webservice and will be on audio/video chat with remote side as he sends stream. (with one person) Pretty much like sample Cirrus application.Also I've another issue, I also want to publish one person's (consultant in my case) video to several people (customers) at the same time (one to many), customers won't publish any video or audio, they'll only watch and hear consultant. Can I use RTMFP and P2P for that? I guess it will insanely increase publishers bandwidth needs, so should I use streaming on FMS and let customers to get stream from FMS

View 2 RepliesI managed to run the FMS on an EC2 instance and I am able to use admin console. So I think I can say, that the server is running. Now I want to connect to the multicast application, which is delivered with the FMS as an example, via RTMFP. I can't get it to work... With an FMS 4.5 development server I didn't experience such problems. It seems to be a problem with the AWS. It might be, that I missed something to configure

* Installed Adobe flash media live encoder
* In the FMS URL entered as " rtmp://myserver ip/live "
* In stream given as "livestream"
* when i click connect the follwing error is displaying " Invalid primary FMSURL "

I just set up a new copy of the official Adobe Amazon Machine Image for FMS4.One show stopper: it seems to require a license key in fms.ini, just like any other FMS4 install.The master log file has "invalid license key" in it. We tried giving it the "Activation key" no dice.There's a license directory in /opt/adobe/fms with 3 .bin files.We tried entering the path to that directory for the license no dice.The docs don't say anything about it.I've spent over 3 hours being transferred around Adobe and listening to elevator music(code).........

View 3 RepliesI have a web app that connects two computers and streams video to each other like a video conference. It currently works and also records the video in .f4v format. I am trying to figure out what I need to do to enable the client pc's to stream in H.264. Is it true that I have to use some type of encoder (like Live Encoder) to use H.264? If so, does Live Encoder have to be installed on the client computers? If that is true, is there a way to install the live encoder through our web app, configure it, and close it down when the conference is over, with no interaction from the client? Is there some type of plug-in that we could use that would eliminate the need for installing live encoder on the client computers?

Installed fms4 x64 on windows server 2008 to try it out. When I open up task manager to check processes running, FMSCore process does not run [URL] found this in the knowledge base but step3 "Run this program As Administrator" checkbox is greyed out so I cannot do anything. I have stopped and restarted service so many time, rebooted server at least twice. Even the video that's supposed to play when you click the start screen is not playing.
Set the Flash Media Server services to Run as AdministratorComplete the following steps for each of the following files located in the Flash Media Server root installation folder (C:/Program Files/Adobe/Flash Media Server, by default):
FMSAdmin.exeFMSCore.exeFMSMaster.exeFMSEdge.exeRight-click the file and chooseProperties.
Select the Compatibility tab and click Change Settings For All Users.
Select Run This Program As Administrator.
Click Apply, and then click OK.
Complete these steps for each Flash Media Server service.
Restart the computer.
Flash Media Server starts when the computer starts.
Is there some FMS-specific reason why a sendAndLoad function in SSAS couldn't connect to a site on an IP address? Are there any configurations that would need to be set to allow/deny this type of connection? We have a server instance that can only connect to sites hosted on fully qualified domains.

Server is dedicated just for fms, there is only one application running on the server, with more instances, average traffic is 3-15 simultaneous users.The problem is,server suddenly stops accepting connections (after 1-3 days from restart), from this point it is impossible to connect to any instance, and fms server must be restarted.When the server crashes, the admin console can see all open instances, can close instances, can restart fms. There is nothing logged, that would explain this sudden failure.Second problem is, cores are connected and disconnected too often, causing client to reconnect (takes 2-5 seconds).
Hardware: 4 x quadcore Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E7440 @ 2.40GHz, 32 GB ram
OS: CentOS release 5.3 (Final), kernel: 2.6.18-128.4.1.el5

I'm trying to find in the documentation why Apache is required for the feature set that FMIS 4.5 provides. Is it that there are modules/scripts/other built in to that Apache build that make the features work or is it that Apache is simply pre-configured to work and provide these services?
If it's merely a configuration issue, is there an outline somewhere of the set up so I can mirror the setup with iis?
I've installed FLASH MEDIA DEVELOPMENT SERVER 4 for testing. I wonder if there is a way to disable Stratus/Cirrus peer introduction services included in this version of FMS, because I need to simulate Flash Media Interactive Server 4 (not the Enterprise version) to adjust my application properly for cheaper solution.I am using NetStream.DIRECT_CONNECTIONS and I want to test, what are the differences of usage and how to do it right, even implement a fallback, when no peer introduction services are working on the server.
View 5 RepliesI installed Flash CS4 a couple of days ago. Trying it out for the first time today. I went to import a video & got a message: "The required version of Adobe Media Encoder is not installed or the installation is damaged. Please reinstall."
I'm showing a Media Encoder CS4 folder under my Adobe folder, so I assume I've got the latest version installed, but it's a corrupt installation & I need to reinstall. My question is: do I need to redo the whole Flash CS4 installation? The reason I ask is that our IT provided me with multiple files for the install - there's ADBEFLPRCS4Win_LS1.exe. That's for the main install. But there's also a ADOBEFLPRCS4Win_Cont_LS1.exe. That's the added content file. I don't want to uninstall/reinstall Flash if I don't have to. Does anybody know if Media Encoder installs from the main Flash installation file, or from the added content installation file?

I am thinking about making a web site that streams HD movies and videos that I have created myself. I was wonder could you use Adobe Flash Media Interactive Server 3.5 to do so I know i would have to buy a dedicated server and a fast one with a good load of bandwidth. The big question am asking is that can you base a website or content management system around the interactive server.
