Suppose I have one combo box and I am switching its data provider from oldDataProvider to newDataProvider with ActionScript. Both data providers are ArrayCollections. Then, when a change occurs in the oldDataProvider ArrayCollection, it affects the combo box, although it is not its data provider anymore. Specifically, when removing an item from oldDataProvider (in the range of the newDataProvider values), it decreases the selectedIndex value of the combo box by one, changing the selected item.

I am working on a modularized Flex application, and I am trying to cut-down on the amount of client-server interaction.Every time a module is opened, a request is made to a web service to get values to bind to the Flex form. If a user closes the module, and then reopens it at another time during their session, the same web request will be made.Since this data is static, i.e. not changing, I am thinking about creating global variables to hold the data providers. On the initial application load, a series of web service calls will be made to fill all needed data providers. Then, any time a module is opened, it can use these global providers instead of making unnecessary and repeated requests. These are NOT going to be huge providers, so I don't think browser memory should be a concern.

I'm new to Flex. I've been graphing multiple series in a line chart where all of these series are the same length. Now I need to plot new data and each series has a different length from each other. The question is how to modify the following code to do this.

The initApp() function is called at the start of the program, and it calls function genData() to generate the dataSet used for plotting in the LineChart.

Can someone recommend how to place array1, array2, array3, and array4 into x1, y1, x2, y2 (respectively) when the length of array1 and array2 do not equal that of array3 and array4? Or, equivalent outcome.

I'm assuming everything has to come in through dataSet, but I wonder if it's possible to simply reference array1 (etc.) directly from <mx:LineChart ...> or <mx:LineSeries ...> somehow, to avoid wasting memory on an unnecessary array (e.g. dataSet).

Flex :: Extending X-axis On LineChart For Unknown Future Data?

How do you display data on a LineChart that cuts off where there is no more data? For example, if I am showing a chart of company revenue for 2010, the chart should only show up to July now (with August and forward on showing no data). This would make the line in the line chart break and dissappear off at about midway through the year.

I've got a bit that loads a big chunk of xml data about products.I push product info into an array(e.g. productArray), then add that array to another array (e.g. allProductsArray)How do I sort those arrays? For instance, if I want to sort the allProductsArray based on the info in productArray[0]?Alternatively, would something other tha an array of arrays be a better route?This loader loads the same sort of info for many different clients, so the bit to sort on will change.

Is there a way to break the line in a line-chart, if the gap between 2 values on the x axis is bigger then a given value? For example there are 20 values but the first 13 are close to each other on the x axis and should be connected with a line, but the other 7 are a bit far from these and should be connected with another line. The type of values are the same.

I have a line chart in flex with a dateTime axis. I am setting the dataprovider to that linechart via actionscript. The graph gets drawn. The problem occurs when i assign a null to the dataprovider so that the graph becomes empty.

I am using FlashDevelop to develop flex applications and wanted to paint a LineChart in a panel. I used an example of Adobe itself to be found here. When I compiled it FlashDevelop showed the following output file type was not found or was not a compile-time constantFor Both LineChart and AreaChart.Can someone tell me why this happens? I also tried it in the code by importing mx.charts.LineChart, my code completion found the classes but when compiling the same error occurs.

Flex :: Why Does The LineChart Legend Stop Displaying Colors When LineSeries's LineStroke Attribute Changes

I am implementing a LineChart in FLEX 4. I have the chart working well except I do not like the default colors and cannot use them, as they do not relate to my data very well. For instance, Orange is not a great default color for my data column "Outdoor temperature". I would rather override it and use a green color if possible.

When I explicitly specify the SolidColorStroke, like so, this breaks the LineChart Legend:

<mx:LineSeries yField="v1" form="curve" displayName="Indoor Temp" lineStroke="{s1}"/>

^ With this code, The LineChart Legend stops displaying the color for that specific LineSeries, and only displays in black.

How can I override the LineSeries stroke color and persist those colors to the Legend's display?

Is this a FLEX 4 bug? I noticed in FLEX 3 examples (even on Adobe's FLEX 3 Help website) you can override the stroke colors and it persists to the Chart Legend.

I wrote a function to override y FLEX LineChart's datatips because the default datatips were ugly and rather boring.I finally set the style I wanted but am now having some problems removing un-necessary tags from being displayed in the custom datatips.For example, the datatips now display things like this:

"<b>Humidity</b></BR>2010-07-05T00:15:00"

I can always perform a "Replace()" to remove those break and bold HTML tags, but that seems really un-necessary and anti-development.I am using this to set the dataTip's label text:

I have a LineChar, with one LineSeries, on which i am drawing values ( Y axis ), on specific time ( X axis ).The problem is that i don't wanna the points which is distanced on a specific distance in time ( let say 6 hours ) to be connected.Is there a way to make LineSeries with DateTimeAxis not connecting points distanted in specific time ?

I want to use one data source (e.g. an Array) for multiple Datagrids that have different filterFunctions attached and show different columns.First, I thought I use a very straight forward apporach:create the Arraycreate an ArrayCollection for every DataGrid and set the "source" property to the Arraycreate the DataGrids and set their dataProvider property to its designated ArrayCollectionSo now. every ArrayCollection can have its own filterFunction, sort state etc. but there needs tos are dispatched and I have to call itemUpdated manually on each of the ArrayCollections. While debugging into the code in order to get a deeper understanding for Flex, I tried to figure out, what this misterious "itemUpdated" method does, especially as it notes in the adobe documentation, that, if no "property" is given (e.g. it is null), a simple "refresh()" will occur.

I did not find any calls to "refresh()" in the whole debugging (and I went down the framework whole as deep as possible (btw: lots of funny comments right in the code :-) )he only thing I could find was a CollectionChangeEvent getting dispatched with a PropertyChangeEvent in its "item" property. Which was of the kind "UPDATE" (and not, as I would expect "ADD"). When trying to dispatch that event manually, it never worked (e.g. the datagrid did not update).

I have designed "the core" of the application i am working on ( it communication with the server, data processing, etc. ), and now i am a bit stuck on the User Interface, because i wish it to be specific, and probably different on the different platforms it goin to run on ( PC, tablet, gsm ).

My question basically is How to separate the "core" of the application, which must remain the same for all of the platforms, from the UI's which shall be very different applications ?

I want to be able to share videos from my Wordpress site to Facebook using different video providers. I was able to use my own video player, but I'm not ready to post videos using my server and I prefer to have users post using a provider like youtube, vimeo, facebook, ect.. Right now my site has those kind of video players. I edit the meta tags several times, this is the one I currently have:

I also tested it using a single youtube video and it worked fine. But since I have other videos beside youtube I can't do it where it just gets a youtube id. Yesterday the posts without videos were showing up, but now when all posts gets share it shows up like if it was a video on my wall, so if clicked it will give an error. I been pulling my hair all week with this and still couldn't get it to work.

when I update my script, it takes so long for facebook to update the change. I have to wait for so long in order to test it again, like if facebook is holding it in cache for too long, is there a way to bypass that?

I have a list of txt files and when one is selected it is read and assigned to a string variable. this string is then pushed to a view : pushView(viewer, string), where the string is displayed in a textarea.
