I have this MenuBar control in Flex 3. How can I programmatically change the toggled property to false?
<mx:MenuBar labelField="@label" itemClick="itemClickHandler(event);" left="0" right="0" top="0" id="menuBar">
<mx:XMLList><menuitem label="File" data="top">
<menuitem label="New" data="file-new"/></menuitem>
<menuitem label="View" >
<menuitem label="Grid" type="check" toggled="true" data="view-grid"/>
</menuitem></mx:XMLList></mx:MenuBar>
I need to programmatically set the selected item in a combobox. I've got a combobox like this: <mx:ComboBox id="MyComboBox" change="puzzleHandler(event);"prompt="Make a Selection"> <mx:ArrayCollection id="myDP"> <mx:Object id="first" label="Label 1" series="2" pageTitle="Title 1"/> <mx:Object id="second" label="Label 2" series="7" pageTitle="Title 2"/> <mx:Object id="third" label="Label 3" series="9" pageTitle="Title 3"/> </mx:ArrayCollection></mx:ComboBox>
I've got a function that regards deep linking. [URL]. They'll be taken to the appropriate part of the site (without having selected Label 2 in the comboBox). How do I set the comboBox programatically, so that it corresponds with what the user it looking at? In my function's switch statement, I want to set the comboBox to the label that corresponds with the view. If "view=2" then the comboBox should show "Label 2" as selected.
case "view=1": MyComboBox.selectedItem.label="Label 1"; parseUrl(); case "view=2": [Code] ..... I tried this: MyComboBox.selectedItem.label="Label 1" But it's not working.
The selectedIndex is associated with an HSlider, but that is not the problem. My issue is that I would like to automatically select a certain "preferred" element from the list (only initially...to guide the user).
I tried to do that in a creationComplete event but my data hadn't shown up yet...setting selectedIndex didn't work..
I am trying to change the visible index of a Scroller container on an event. The Scroller contains an HGroup with Images, so on an event I want to change which of the Images is visible in the Scroller by specifying an HGroup index. Is this possible?
I know that I can get info about constants, methods, etc of a class by using flash.utils.describeType. But I want to know if I can retrieve the asdoc comments of a class member.
I suspect, documentation is removed when classes are compiled into SWF so it might be impossible to get comments during run-time.
Setting the text property of a flex DateField makes the selectedDate property of that DateField go to null.I need to set the text property so that I can use a particular format (DD-MMM-YYYY).
If I set customComponent.Visible to false, the component gets hidden (as expected). But doesn't trigger the hideFX at all. Am I doing something wrong? Or isn't this the correct way to use hideEffect and showEffect?
I am new to Flash. I bought a template online a couple weeks ago, and for the most part have made all the changes to personalize the page. The page is for wedding videography, and came with a Videos section. However, I do not like the template video player, and would like to have the Videos link on the menu bar go straight to my youtube channel rather than to the flash player. Primarily all changes to the template have been made in a text.txt file, rather than the flash file itself. My question is, how could I change the link on the main page to route to my youtube channel? Here's what it looks like in the text file:
Is there a way to change the space between a spark form item and its content (textinput, combobox)? I already set to 0 the "gap" property of the form, but still there is a lot of vertical space left between the form inputs.
Now when I want to access a function from the itemrendered/combobox i use parentApplication.funcName but what about accessing the other way, how can I access a property of the combobox from outside the itemrenderer? I tried myEditor2.pickState but it is now working
I was trying to get the COPY cursor using DragMananger and event.preventDefault()- but got a very weird cursor behavior (the items' drop indicator was wrongly presented - etc.) Therefor i am trying to stick to default - this works fine - but my cursor now on copy is a simple arrow, and i would like to get the arrow with the grin plus on it
JSFL includes a nice command named addItemToDocument. This allows the script to add components from the component panel to the stage (and library). If the component already appears on stage and the addition is newer than the version on stage, a dialog appears with the question 'One or More library items already exist in the document.' That is a rather inconvient happening for automating this task. My main goal is to update the components in many files after I update a component. I don't want to manually respond to that dialog.

I have 2 EXTERNAL movies being loaded with initial load of my site into my main.swf, one of which (movingbg.swf) is being loaded with a preloader. The problem is that my other movie (menubar.swf) is loaded before my first movie. I think I should use the _visible property to solve this and here is what I have so far...
I am trying to change the width and height of instances of a symbol programmatically. Basically, the symbol contains a few colored rectangles, a bitmap, and some text. I want to change the height and width of each instance of the symbol based on how low the text string is that is in the instance's text field, but the bitmap's size should always stay the same, 24x24 pixels.[code]The problem is that using this code seems to scale everything up, including the bitmap. I have tried to programmatically add the 24x24 pixel bitmap to the symbol programmatically after I changed the height, but it still seems to be scaled..

Is there a way to disable the hover effects?I don't want flex to highlight the entire component for both link buttons and menu bar.On the menubar, I applied a backgroundSkin, so having flex highlight the whole menubar when the user hovers their mouse on top quitely destroys the design.
Well, I was able to simply enough (after about an hour of googling) implement i18n (internationalization) into my Flex application by having to reverse engineer the Flex SDK and do a lot of digging (a specific question on here helped me a lot! (with some updates for flex 4.5)).The problem is, I can't use my {getLand('key')} bind inside an <fx:XMLList> (how you define the contents of a <mx:MenuBar>. I've included some example i18n below, as well as an example of the menu bar.
<!-- Example of proper (working) i18n --> <s:TextArea text="{getLang('Rules')}"/>[code]..
regarding the events related to menubar sub items, here is some code iam working with

As you can see there is Vision and Contact Us but the eventHandler doesn't know when those two are clicked. What is the correct way to implement the eventHandler?
I have an mx:Menubar, which I need to be able to open/expand based on the key pressed. For e.g., if Shift + R is pressed, it needs to open the 'Request' topmenu. Then if Shift + N is pressed, it should load the 'New request' module in the module loader. I've already implemented the MenuBar/module-loading functionality with the mouse, but I haven't been able to implement the keyboard shortcuts. I found a nice sample at [URL].
However, the solution directly performs the action (e.g. Shift + N to load the 'New request' module). The menu does not open/expand when you press the shortcut as though you had hovered your mouse over it (e.g. Shift + R to open/expand the 'Request' topmenu and then Shift + N to load the 'New request' module).
I'm trying to make a menubar with an itemrenderer of linkbuttons. How could I go by doing this? Here is what my code looks like so far, but I can't seem to get it working.
I have a little concern. I started trying to make a MenuBar control with custom icons already made in FXG format. I have 3 FXG files in "assets.graphics.icons" inside my project folder:
I have a MenuBar which opens downwards except when there isn't enough room to open it. For example, it may have 10 items but there's only enough room to display 4-5. Flex then tries to display the menu above the bar, which is completely off the screen. Is there some property or style I'm overlooking to always force it to open downward?
EDIT: Thought I'd give some clarification as to how I plan to circumvent the issue. If I can always force the menubar to be orientated downwards, I can make it into a scrollable menubar displaying only a few items at worst.
