I want to restrict the number of entries that appear in the drop-down list of a combobox (ie the length of the drop-down). My research suggested that mybox.length = 20 should restrict the number of items in the list to 20 but it has no effect. A trace(mybox.length) gives "undefined" yet flash help says the default is 0.
Does anyone know how to force a combobox to drop up instead of down? by default, if your combobox is near the bottom of your movie stage it should do this...however...I'm calling a movie clip into another movie clip stage that is centered in full screen...therefore the "bottom" is too far away to make it do this. Hope this makes sense.
When a combobox is elected in the flex app, there is a quick flicker, then the combobox needs to be selected again in order to get the dropdown to open. After that, the dropdown works as expected, but only while selecting the control subsequent times while on the form. Reloading the form requires the double selection again.
I have a combo box on the stage in a main SWF. when the user selects an item in the dropdown list a child SWF is launched into level0 using loadMovieNum and data is left behind using _global variables for the child SWF to use. this works fine and well. but inside the new child SWF that is launched is a button that takes you back to the previous main SWF with the ComboBox. its done using the same method loadMovieNum into level0. and the main SWF loads but you cannot open the ComboBox. it will not drop down. the halo green color on hover over is there and it gets darker when you click, but the list doesn't drop down. here is some code that I think may be significant to the situation...
Because of screen size, I must ensure we're only displaying necessary data to the user.I have a drop down box that contains only 5 items and I would like that when an item is selected, it doesn't appear in the drop down box (since technically it's showing twice, once at the top as the selected item and once in the list). how I would achieve this? I tried using a custom CellRender and overriding the "set selected" function to call this.visible = false if selected is true, but that simply hides the item but does not remove it from the layout of the drop down list.
Let's say I have array foo and a positive integer y, where foo.length > y.I want to remove elements from foo so that foo.length becomes y (or very close to it).Also, I need to preserve the first and last element of foo. The indices of the removed elements must be spaced apart as equally as possible. Foo can be sliced, or it can be used to create a new array.
Example: if foo = [a,b,c,d,e,f,g,1,2,3,4,5] and y = 6, then trimmedfoo could be [a,c,e,g,2,4,5] or maybe [a,c,e,2,4,5], but not [a,c,e,g,2,4] because the last element of foo is missing.
Is there any way to determine if a (anonymous) function has defined the ...(rest) parameter in ActionScript 3? I know there's the function.length property, but it only counts the explicitly defined arguments.
Flex 4 Combobox is extended with a Text Input that helps in getting to the item that is searched for.I have created a Check Box as an itemrenderer for this Flex 4 Combobox. I would like to Add a Select All and Select None options in the drop down of the Combobox. I know that i could accomplish by editing the dropdownfactory in case of a Flex 3 Combobox. But in Flex 4 the dropdownfactory doesnt exist.
I'm using Flash CS3 and want to create a custom ComboBox. I've followed the steps outlined in "Editing component skins in a new document" (http:/[url]...), but every time I get to the step where I drag the ComboBox Assets folder from the HaloTheme.fla library into my library, if I test movie at that point my combobox has become an unclickable white rectangle with no label, button or anything.
I'm trying to set a specific list item in a mx combobox to have a custom item renderer, the problem is that I cannot do this via mxml, it needs to be done via actionscript at a later stage, eg: combobox gets created, combobox gets populated, user does other tasks, combobox needs to set one or more items in the combobox to have icons (via item renderer)..
I can do this via the onChange event, but it only applies the icon when the combobox is opened and there is a slight delay so you can see the icon being added.

Both of my ComboBoxes has the same identifier.I could not change the identifier through the properties tab because it is greyed out.
var myTargetName:String = "target" + event.target.name; var myTarget:DisplayObject = getChildByName(myTargetName); if (event.target.dropTarget != null && event.target.dropTarget.parent == myTarget){ navigateToURL(new URLRequest(http:// websiteAdress.com));
I am trying to navigate to a new url for each movie clip, problem is im really unsure of how to achieve this I have one target on my page and would like to be able to drop any of these movie clipt o to it?
I'm trying to make a simulation where a person can drag 2 different objects to any 4 predefined targets on the stage. Based on the position of the 2 objects there will be a different output text. I hope I described that clearly. I would also like the 2 objects to snap to the 4 targets. Im very new to AS. Im starting to be able to read it a bit but still can not wright it.
When i insert the flash menu it basically dosent fit into the alloted space i gave for my horizontal navigation bar, when inserted it blows apart. the only thing i could think of was resizing the flash document but then i cant see the menu expand it gets cut off,
I have for a physics type site and I need to find a way of doing the following two things:
1. I know that I have come across drag n drop tutorials before but I can't find them.I basicly want to take a letter or any image and drop it onto a big circle and then have it stay there!
2. Secondly is there a way of having the visitor kind of like create their own image and then have them save it to the site so that it can be displayed in a gallery without using fancy stuff like php, cgi ?
Can somebody take a look at my .fla file and tell me why exactly my menu is not dropping down at all?If you download my file go to scene 3. that is where my Navigation Bar is.URL...
I have added drag and drop to some of my custom components.The drag event is fired on mouse down.If you mouse down and move the component around then drop it repeatedly its fine.But if you mousedown and drag the component around drop it and THEN just click on the component it inits the drag but doesn't fire the drop event.Its almost like you have to move the component for it to fire the drag drop event.This is very annoying as i'm removing the component on drag init and adding it again on drop, so just clicking on it makes it disappear.
I have an 11 minute video (.MOV) that I want to convert to an FLV. The file is about 29GB. I first tried to convert it using the CS3 Video Encoder but only the first 5:00 were converted. I tried this a few times with different settings but got the same results. Then I switched to Cleaner but again, only about 5:00 was converted. The length is not exactly the same but close enough for me to think that there might be a 5:00 limit to how long an FLV can be. Or is there a limit to the size of MOV the encoding process will handle?
I have 10 dynamic text fields inside a movieclip, which are populated via an XML file.However, the xml file sometimes has less than 10 items. It never has more than 10. This results in the following error, which is normal. I need the code to count the amount of items in the XML file and then create a for-each loop. I can visualize it, but I don't know how to write it.Basically what I need the code below transformed in to is this... (notice the #'s)
ActionScript Code: (count xml items) fr each item {
I am trying to find out what the max length is for a string because since as3 doesnt provide any methods for removing characters from a string by changing the initial string itself, i am going to have to stick to re-initializing.I did a little test to see how long it would take for my program to break using the following code:
Actionscript Code:
+[code]..............
The program crashed at a string length of about 500 million.
EDIT:however before it crashed,it performed the incrementations with reasonable performance.
EDIT EDIT: which is strange since my ram still had over 2 gig the program didnt use
I am getting an error when I am trying to find the length of the day.My source xml is using single digit day / month and dropping padding 0 however the url string I am trying to build uses padded 0 in their universal paramaters so I am needing to add the 0 when length <= 1doing somthing like this for the month...Actionscript Code:if (urlMonth.length <= 2){urlMonth = "0"+urlMonth}when I try to use this my day however I get Property length not found on Number and there is no default value.
I am using as2 to stream some mp3s. At the moment I have an attribute within the xml for giving me the length.I guess the length for the mp3s is buried in the mmp3 file somewhere. If I load the files in totally first, then I can get at the info (ID3 is it?) however, this doesn't work for streaming them . Or rather, I can't make it work! (I have found posts which suggest making an estimate if you know how much has downloaded in so many seconds and you know the length etc etc - but this is exactly that - an estimate!)So my question is how do I get the length of an mp3 clip that I am going to stream?
