I want to know how to display a name which was entered to input text field on a frame which exists in another scene.
I can do it on the same frame, but cant find a way to use the data in two different scenes.
I am trying to show input text to another text field on run time. I want to show the myOutputBox with in a movie clip. The code is below:

I am making a piece of software that requires me to write a single number or letter in an input text box and then this text affects some other things on the screen. Does anyone know how to make flash realise that I have entered a number into the box?
View 1 RepliesI'm trying to isolate words entered by the user into an "Input Text" (command). In a function that executes every time a key is pressed, I set a string, "newTxt", to the text entered.[code]This works fine; I'm able to check the string "newTxt". However, this checks the entire command rather than one word. When I replace line 2 with:[code]it freezes. In theory, it should add every letter until it reaches a space or ends, right? Could anyone find my mistake? Also, how would I go about checking for the second word (after a space)?

View 2 RepliesI'm making a calculator using Flash MX that works the same way as the basic calculator found on windows (not the scientific one). But having the user input a number, store it as a variable, store which function the user wants to perform and clear the text field then store the new input in the same text field as a different variable and multiply or add or divide or subtract the 2 numbers and getting the equals sign to display the answer when clicked is harder than I thought it would be.

View 6 RepliesWhat I'm trying to do is to write something in an input field and then it should show up in a dinamic field. I can make this happen, but the problem is that the dinamic field shows its new text in the same format as the Input field. For example, the input text is written in TimesNewRoman and the dinamic text is in Arial, but when the dinamic text shows the input, the text is still in TimesNewRoman when I want it to be in Arial.

View 2 RepliesI am using an mx:DateField in Flex and it works nice with the date picker, but I also need it to be editable, so I set editable="true". The problem is that now the user can enter anything they want - even though I have a formatString="YYYY-MM-DD" set. The date picker honors this format, but if the user enters in the format MM/DD/YYYY they can - or they can even enter garbage data.
I realize I can set up a data validator to check that it is a valid date and in the appropriate format as per the flex docs, but I was hoping to have something I have seen in other languages where the text field would show something like "0000-00-00" and the user clicks in to the field and it allows them to change only the digits (the zeros) and can not type any alpha characters or add/remove any length.
I have a doubt in flash, i have a input text field with the text "search..." if i click on the input text field the word " search...." should not be visible. It is quite same as search bar in Flash Kit website , it is having the word "Search Flash Kit" but when the user click on the text field the word get disappear.

how i can confine the text within the boundaries of the input text field instead of restricting to limited characters? I find that restricting to limited characters is a bit problematic as it depends on the number of words the user types on it.

I don't know if it is possible, I assume it would be, but my searches are not turning up much.
I want the user to be able to select a section of text and click a B button to surround that selected text with strong tags, same for italics.
I also want to give the ability to at least record when the user presses enter in order it insert p tags and maybe even br tags if they press shift+enter

Jus inncase it's nt really clear, I'm using a javascript contact form whereby users will add in details such as name, etc, and they're also required to input some details in the .swf (the input in the flash is a must). After they're submitted the input in the flash (as seenn in the link above), the detail will be send together with the rest of the details from the contact form.
I am having a problem getting my xml to filter based on the contents of an input text box.

I have a text field component that I am dynamically populating with text. The words appear one letter at a time in a teleprinter style fashion. I also have rendered certain words with HTML to make style changes within the text.Now all this works fine, except because the HTML text is larger than the body of the other text, I am losing theteleprintereffect at the bottom of the text field. In other words, after a set amount has been printed, users are not seeing the letters printed out one at a time, but instead just get a printed line of text appear from beneath the visible section of the text window.
