ActionScript 2.0 :: Make A Rounded Surface Wall / Barrier?
Jan 9, 2009I am currently working on a game and I am stuck. I do not know how to make a rounded surface that will act as a wall/barrier. It is pretty much a semi-circle. I know you can make a circle act as a barrier but I would need to use the perimeter of the circle. Also is there a way you can make an actual image a barrier? I am new at this but I know from reading up that making a rounded wall is pretty tough. I am going to use this wall to make a ball bounce or "roll" around it. Below is a picture of what I am trying to do. The black dot is the ball.

Aug 7, 2009I have a movie clip with 15 frames. Each frame has buttons on it (mc's)... I was going to put the actions on the main timeline/stage and navigate within the MC from the main timeline. Is that possible? I can get the buttons on the first frame of the MC to work, but I can't seem to figure out how to target/make the buttons on the other frames work? I was thinking I could identify the path of the MC with the frame labels, but that doesn't seem to work. like: _root.RMChanger.(frame label).buttonOnFrame = function
I have to move a text box in and out over the MC backgrounds on the main stage... which is why I was thinking to do it this way? I've been switching back and forth bwtween AS2.0 and 3.0
ActionScript 1/2 :: Make A Menu That Has OnRelease Buttons On Top Of OnRollover Buttons
Mar 20, 2011I'm trying to make a menu that has onRelease buttons on top of onRollover buttons (the onReleases are on a separate layer from the onRollovers). The onRelease buttons take the user to different urls, and the onRollover buttons are supposed to allow different parts of the menu to appear.
The onRelease buttons work fine, but I can't get the onRollover buttons to work consistently. Sometimes the onRollover buttons will correctly advance to a different frame, and sometimes they "stick" and do not advance. The script has no errors and I've tried changing the sizes of the onRollover buttons (in case they were too large and the cursor was hovering over more than 1 at the same time), changing the order of the code for the onRelease and onRollover commands (in case the onRollovers were being superseded by the onRelease commands), and countless variations of the layers and frames.
I'm sure that you'll want to see the script, but I don't think that pasting it all on this post would be reasonable? So I've put the .fla and the .swf on this page for reference: [URL]

Jul 15, 2009I would like to tween between a short rounded rectangle and a tall rounded rectangle. (I only want deal with the height - no other parameters). I am programming with ActionScript 3. My tweening engine is TweenLite.I have been tweening a sprite that contains a rounded rectangle. The tweened sprite produces distortion. I suppose that I have been scaling the original image, rather than the height of the rounded rectangle?Here is a simple example of my code:
Draw the rounded rectangle:

Then I listen for a mouse click event on the rounded rectangle.The mouse event triggers a function with the following code:

I would like to tween the height of the rounded rectangle itself. I would hope that this would not produce the unwanted distortion.

Jun 21, 2010When I use <s:Rect> to create a rectangle, I use radiusX to get rounded corners. Problem is all are the same roundedness. Is there something similar to Rect that lets me control the radius for each corner separately? If not, what's the best way to create this from scratch? graphics library or what?

be 8 or 7?
For a practical example, can this often-used construct give an index out of bounds error:
someArray[(int)(Math.random() * someArray.length)];
I'm specifically interested in answers for Java and ActionScript 3, but I suppose they all use the same rules for floating point arithmetic, and answers for any platform would be useful.
Update: Though I already accepted an answer, I'd still appreciate confirmation that this can't go wrong in ActionScript 3 either, since a colleague reporting that he saw it go wrong once is what partly prompted me to ask this question.
