View 15 RepliesI have FMIS 3.5.I've installed it with pretty much all the default values.I haven't changed any of the settings in either the LIVE or the VOD applications.Dynamic Bitrate Switching is working well for VOD, but not working at all for LIVE streams.Doing a regular bandwidth detection on both the LIVE and the VOD applications give similar, high bandwidth results. However, the LIVE application NetStreamInfo.maxBytesPerSecond is showing a very low bandwidth capability of around maxBytesPerSecond = 19016, where as for the VOD its achieving around 637110.I can play a single LIVE stream of a high quality smoothly without any error.
I don't know if this is relevent but I'm getting some error messages occassionally in the log of the live application saying : Dropping application (live/_definst_) message. Clients not allowed to broadcast message.These messages aren't consistent, and don't coincide with trying to use bitrate switching.I have tried downloading the Adobe sample StreamSwitching. fla and it won't play the LIVE streams at all.Using the opensource Longtail Video player it just always defaults to the lowest stream.Here is an example: http:[url]....
How to record a live video stream playing on an FLVPlayback?
View 1 Replieswhen i try to live stream with FMS! I can stream video with Flash media live encoder to the server but when i create the player to recieve the livestream from server,i can not recieve the live stream,can anyone give me a step by step tutorial of how to do it?
View 1 RepliesWe have an application that is using FMS to share slides (swf,jpg, etc) with another client. We added a video as an option. We would like to verify as often as possible the bandwidth quality between communications in order to suggest the user to close video if we notice bandwidth is not optimal.
We've been experimenting doing a bandwidth detection every 60 seconds, but I am wondering if there are specific guidelines to do this for live video, like how many times one should verify bandwidth? Is it ok to take one reading or should we take a few readings and then average out?
I know the stream can only be modified at publishing side by previous posts. I was thinking of using Server shared objects, but it's not supported by lite.
View 2 RepliesI use FMIE and FMLE.how can i do save to file Live Streaming in server installed fms, not local system ?
View 1 RepliesI'm trying to get Flex Builder 3 to play a live video stream with Flash Media Server and Flash Live Media Encoder.
I'm able to stream pre-recrorded (vod) flvs in flex from flash media server.
I'm able to stream live video using Flash/FMS/Flas Live Media Encoder, but not with Flex.
This code streams pre-recorded Video on Demand flvs, but not live streams:
If I change source to "rtmp://localhost/live/livesream.flv, I get nothing.
<?xml version="1.0"?><!-- controlsvideodisplayVideoDisplayFMS.mxml --><mx:Application xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml">
<mx:HBox> <mx:Label text="RTMP FMS 2.0"/> <mx:VideoDisplay autoBandWidthDetection="false" source="rtmp://localhost/vod/Legend.flv"/> </mx:HBox></mx:Application>
I am trying to encode and stream live video. I have downloaded both the Flash Media Encoder and Flash Media Server. The problem i have now is, i can't able to connect to Flash Media Server. The FMS url is as default: rtmp://localhost/live. Do i have to purchase a FMS url? How do i make sure that my FMS is running/ activated?
View 1 Repliesis it possible to receive live stream at bitrate lower than that which video is being recorded with? How to accomplish that? I know that play2 from NetStream class allows to switch between recorded videos at different bitrates, but what about live content? I cannot simply set bandwidth to lower using FMS because i need to be sure that framerate won't be affected, and there are also other simultaneous streams playing .
View 3 Repliesthis may be really dumb question, but I haven't figured it out. Is it possible to stream to ustream with lets say 300 bitrate and record 1000 bitrate video to computer
View 4 RepliesServer conf:
2 x Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU L5410 @ 2.33GHz
16Gb RAM
2 Gbit ethernet channel
OS - Linux CentOS 5.5 x86_64
FMS4 Interactive
Live stream parameters:
320Ñ…240 qua_=87 bw_=200000 kf_=5 fps_=18
So, after approximately 600 connections to one stream video becomes choppy (periodically freeze, slow motions). CPU-usage at this time is 100-120% (maximum is 800%, 100% per each core), network usage is 500 Mbit/sec.But second live stream(with few connections) at this server looks fine simultaneously with 600 connections at first stream.Experiments with recommendation in "Configuring performance features" documentation chapter(enabling/disabling aggregate messages and configure the size of stream chunks) do not help.
I did a live stream last week using 282,482,832,1500Kbps streams. What would cause the audio to get out of sync with the live video stream? I'm trying to determine if it was bandwidth related, cpu/memory issue on the FMIS 4.5 server, or an issue with encoding PC exceeding it's limits?
View 3 RepliesI am running a website similar to Ustream and Justin and i am using Linux dedicated server, that have FMS 3.5 Installed. On My site registered broadcasters can stream their live video.
I want to know how can i limit the broadcasters so that they cannot broadcast a live video more then 512bitrate in their encoder.
currently any broadcaster can broadcast a live channel at any bitrate he wants and that is consuming too much of my server's bandwidth.
I currently have two connections with two separate streams. They both hit the same fms 3.5 server. One connection transfers live audio and video. The other one is used for remote objects. Sometimes when viewing the audio and video stream with a slower internet connection, the stream for the shared objects disconnects. I think it is a bandwidth issue. Is there any way to set the priority of the streams? I think this should allow me to set a higher priority for the shared object connection so it won't disconnect.
View 3 RepliesIs it possible to limit the length of live recorded video stream to N minutes/MegaBytes by SSAS in FMS? If the aggregate size of stream outcomes the limit,always make the recorded video file the last N minutes/MegaBytes of the live show? remove the video file and record from the beginning when arriving N minutes/MegaBytes?
View 1 RepliesWhat file should android devices use to view a live video stream? myeventname.f4m? I'm using the following html5 code and it's not working in Android devices.
<video id="liveWebcast"

I am using Flash Media server 4.5 and i read the tutorial if i want to stream the live feed, i may need to use the media live encoder.
but what i found in media encoder is i have to manually setup everything and it only support camera devices. But in my case i have multiple video files keep received from another program and place it on file system (server),my goal is use the Flash Media server to perform a live boardcasting with these video file one by one. That means when client watching a live streaming, they will not notice the server is playing mov1, then mov2, then mov3, then mov4... and so on.
You can imagine i am trying to boardcast a live footage say for 60sec, but the video file will not recorded entirely after 60sec, instead for every 10sec i will save a new video file, so that when client watching the live by HLS [URL]when the time reach to 10sec, a mov1 video file available and FMS should boardcast this video on live123.when the time reach to 20sec, a mov2 video file available and FMS should Immediately follow the mov1 boardcast on live123.and so on...Also can FMS dynamically create a new streaming session (invoke by code), so that when client A uploading some video files to the server, the FMS open a new streaming session only stream cilent A video files?the configuration to boardcasting like screen size, bit rate, etc should be pre-defined on the server. How can I tell after issuing a NetStream::play call when there is any video arrived which I can render (Video::attachNetStream)? I can see that most of that stuff is asynchronous and highly dependent on a number of variables like FMS latency, client latency and bandwidth, server load, weather etc. I however need a reliable dependent way of figuring when there is any picture to show. I administrate our service and need to monitor content people are publishing, for that I need to browse a hundre or so streams as fast as possible. What I do is I have a number of "player" streams that play a stream name (I use Administration API to get an array of these) , wait until there is picture, show it in a video object, disconnect video from stream, create new video object, play another stream, wait until picture, show it, and so on.
I found out that I can achieve a way to check whether video has arrived by NetStream::info.videoBufferByteLength, alternatively perhaps 'videoByteCount'. I cannot create a new stream for new video object, that is too much overhead, so I reuse streams. I close a stream, play new stream name, and wait until the either of the properties above is non zero. This has been working quite alright, but still occasionally I get stale data in the subsequent video objects, even when a stream is supposed to be playing new content. I need to avoid these.
So my question boils down to the already mentioned: what would be a reliable way to do what I am doing? It's just a stream of compressed data, there must be a way for Flash Player to know what is new data and what is stale data. In fact I don't think there is supposed to be stale data in a NetStream that is already playing something else! I know this is hardcore stuff, but we are pushing it :-)
I'm using the Niagara 4100 streaming appliance to encode a live multiple bitrate streams for an event. The problem is the Niagara encoder doesn't allow me to attach an event name to the stream url like - 'streamevent%i?adbe-live-event=liveevent', instead it only allows 'streamevent%i'. So in the end I get three seperate events with a stream for each event.
Like so:
Example:
/Events/streamevent1/MNMMNNMxxxxx.stream
/Events/streamevent2/MNMMNNMxxxxx.stream
/Events/streamevent3/MNMMNNMxxxxx.stream
AND
/Streams/streamevent1/files
/Streams/streamevent2/files
/Streams/streamevent3/files
Is it possible to make it work this way without using the 'adbe-live-event' parameter using the .f4m manifest file?
I was wondering if I were to create a NetStream object and publish it passing in "record" (allowing the end user to record a video via webcam which is then stored on the FMS), how would I specify the bitrate and frame rates etc of the video being recorded? Is this something I need to configure flash media server to do or can I do this through action script?

My Encoder is setup with three streams: Vid: 500 kbps - Audio: 48 kbpsVid: 800 kbps - Audio: 48 kbpsVid: 1500 kbps - Audio: 48 kbps I start the encoder and everything looks fine in the log. In my browser (Safari or Firefox) I go to my html site and the stream starts after 6-8 sec. But anytime with the lowest bitrate 548 kbps and nothing look like the stream is switching to another bitrate. I tried it with the smil playlist and the result is the same. Only the lowest bitrate is plublished.

I'm having a problem with recording a live webcam stream. The last few seconds of the stream is getting cut off.
The recording is stopped with the following piece of code:
vid.attachCamera(null);
vid.clear();
ns.attachCamera(null);
ns.attachAudio(null);
ns.pause();
What could be causing this? Is the stream cut off too soon? Is the client unable to send buffered data to the server?
I'm trying to stream a HDS live multi-bit stream, it seems to push to the FMS but my player doesn't display the stream.Are these settings and files correct? The documenation is confusing on what and which files need to be edited and/or created.

Bit Rate: 150,500,700
FMS URL: rtmp://myserver/livepkgr
Stream: liveevent%i?adbe-live-event?liveevent

View 1 RepliesI'm trying to setup a server-side playlist for playing back mp3 files, though I stumble into a weird FMS behaviour. I'm using latest FMS 4.0.2 Here is how I try to publish the stream (Server-side ActionScript):
[CODE]....
On the client side, I try to play it using NetStream.play("boo"). Though, the sound quality I get is really weird. The sound goes slower and faster and stops for a split of a second. It may play properly for a couple of seconds, but that's all. Sounds like a decoder problem to me, or a bitrate conversion problem. When I play the stream with NetStream.play("mp3:rhcp") the playback goes smoothly. I've tried several mp3 files with different bitrates, but they all have the same problem.
Has there been any further discussion regarding restricting who can stream to FMSS (not FMIS or the development version).
I found this article, but I don't know if this was ever fully resolved:

I don't want just anyone to connect to my server to stream live. I want to restrict by IP address, authentication, or any other means.
