Media Server :: Multiple Bitrate Encoder Creates 3 Separate Events With Stream

Dec 19, 2011

I'm using the Niagara 4100 streaming appliance to encode a live multiple bitrate streams for an event. The problem is the Niagara encoder doesn't allow me to attach an event name to the stream url like - 'streamevent%i?adbe-live-event=liveevent', instead it only allows 'streamevent%i'. So in the end I get three seperate events with a stream for each event.

Like so:
Example:
/Events/streamevent1/MNMMNNMxxxxx.stream
/Events/streamevent2/MNMMNNMxxxxx.stream
/Events/streamevent3/MNMMNNMxxxxx.stream
AND
/Streams/streamevent1/files
/Streams/streamevent2/files
/Streams/streamevent3/files

Is it possible to make it work this way without using the 'adbe-live-event' parameter using the .f4m manifest file?

Media Server :: Dynamic Bitrate Switching On Live Stream?

Jun 23, 2010

I have FMIS 3.5.I've installed it with pretty much all the default values.I haven't changed any of the settings in either the LIVE or the VOD applications.Dynamic Bitrate Switching is working well for VOD, but not working at all for LIVE streams.Doing a regular bandwidth detection on both the LIVE and the VOD applications give similar, high bandwidth results. However, the LIVE application  NetStreamInfo.maxBytesPerSecond is showing a very low bandwidth capability of around maxBytesPerSecond = 19016, where as for the VOD its achieving around 637110.I can play a single LIVE stream of a high quality smoothly without any error.

I don't know if this is relevent but I'm getting some error messages occassionally in the log of the live application saying : Dropping application (live/_definst_) message. Clients not allowed to broadcast message. These messages aren't consistent, and don't coincide with trying to use bitrate switching.I have tried downloading the Adobe sample StreamSwitching. fla and it won't play the LIVE streams at all.Using the opensource Longtail Video player it just always defaults to the lowest stream. Here is an example: http:[url]....

Media Server :: Can't Stream From Live Encoder To Media Server

I'm new to Adobe Flash and I'm just trying out the Flashe Media Server 4.5 to stream live video on a local machine. I'm using a FLME 3.2 to capture the video from my digital camera, which works fine, and I can connect to the server with no worries as well. But I have issues streaming the content in the Sample Video Player that comes with the server.

Media Server :: Stream Failover On Encoder Failure?

Jun 10, 2010

I am using FMLE 3.1, but I presume that any server side solution would support all encoders. A basic version of the problem would be where I have one server and two encoders (with the same video source over SDI). If one encoder fails I want to be able to deliver the feed from the second encoder, without having client side logic. Is this possible?

I would welcome a discussion on ways to provide improved resiliency in the live streaming environment. It is amazing that no out-of-box solution is available to provide such basic functionality.

Michael

BTW: I asked a similar question some months ago but got no answers. Apologies for bringing it up again, but this must be a fairly common problem, as anybody using FMS and FMLE will need some solution. I have tried the livestreamcast application, but had little success. It also appears to be for a much bigger scale than I have, requiring an all origin environment.

Media Server :: Setup Stream Encoder>>Flash Media Server>>Flash Player Client?

Jan 2, 2011

I am trying to create a flash player to stream an on online Internet radio station using FMS. I chose FMS after being told that I need RTMP server to extract the metadata. Our radio audio is being encoded using a DJ interface called SAM Broadcaster. But for some reason, it does not have an option to send over the stream directly to a Flash Media Server. Only options are either IceCAST or ShoutCAST. How should i setup the stream? Should it be Stream encoder>> IceCAST/SHOUTCast Server>>Flash Media Server>>Flash Player Client. Or should I setup Stream Encoder>>Flash Media Server>>Flash Player Client? Shouldn't Flash Media Server be an alternative to IceCast or Shoutcast?  If that is the case, how do I send over the stream from SAM Broadcaster directly to Flash Media Server without restreaming through another streaming server?

Professional :: Bitrate Settings In Adobe Media Encoder?

Jul 8, 2009

I have a problem understanding the bitrate settings when trying to encode an FLV for Flash 8 or higher, using two passes. When you choose to use two passes, you are presented with a bunch of different options, including "Minimum Bitrate [%target]", "Maximum Bitrate [%target]", and "Bitrate Variability [%target]". These are not really explained properly in the online manuals I've seen out there. Let's say you want to have a Costant bitrate (CBR) of 900 kbps, and you want to have two encoding passes, what do you set the other sliders to?

The defaults are:
Minimum Bitrate [%target] 80
Maximum Bitrate [%target] 120
Bitrate Variability [%target] 80

Media Server :: Playback When Using Stream.play("mp3:file") - Bitrate Conversion

May 16, 2011

I'm trying to setup a server-side playlist for playing back mp3 files, though I stumble into a weird FMS behaviour. I'm using latest FMS 4.0.2 Here is how I try to publish the stream (Server-side ActionScript):

[CODE]....

On the client side, I try to play it using NetStream.play("boo"). Though, the sound quality I get is really weird. The sound goes slower and faster and stops for a split of a second. It may play properly for a couple of seconds, but that's all. Sounds like a decoder problem to me, or a bitrate conversion problem. When I play the stream with NetStream.play("mp3:rhcp") the playback goes smoothly. I've tried several mp3 files with different bitrates, but they all have the same problem.

Media Server :: FMS4.5 Live Stream With Multiple Video Files As Single Source?

Jan 27, 2012

I am using Flash Media server 4.5 and i read the tutorial if i want to stream the live feed, i may need to use the media live encoder.
but what i found in media encoder is i have to manually setup everything and it only support camera devices. But in my case i have multiple video files keep received from another program and place it on file system (server),my goal is use the Flash Media server to perform a live boardcasting with these video file one by one. That means when client watching a live streaming, they will not notice the server is playing mov1, then mov2, then mov3, then mov4... and so on.

You can imagine i am trying to boardcast a live footage say for 60sec, but the video file will not recorded entirely after 60sec, instead for every 10sec i will save a new video file, so that when client watching the live by HLS [URL]when the time reach to 10sec, a mov1 video file available and FMS should boardcast this video on live123.when the time reach to 20sec, a mov2 video file available and FMS should Immediately follow the mov1 boardcast on live123.and so on...Also can FMS dynamically create a new streaming session (invoke by code), so that when client A uploading some video files to the server, the FMS open a new streaming session only stream cilent A video files?the configuration to boardcasting like screen size, bit rate, etc should be pre-defined on the server.  [URL]
