View 3 RepliesI need to load in an external HTML webpage on the stage of one of my .SWF files. Currently I have a primary .SWF pulling from a .XML database that has a list of other .SWF files it will import and display every time you "flip" a page as this site is being designed like a book. I have a .swf working that will pull and display an external HTML page but when i try to embed that .swf into the parent book.swf (Book.swf --> book.xml --> html.swf) it doesnt work. Likely the code i am using doesnt display the HTML if testing the .swf on a local server but the moment you place it on a webserver and call it through a web browser it works.
I don not need anything special, just something that will display the HTML page in a static box that i will set with a fixed size and a scroll bar.
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<head runat="server">
<title></title>
</head>

It opens a new page rather than in the same browser.
I have a flash code, in which i am loading images and opening urls through xml file, now it is opening in a different window(pop up window) but i want it to open in the same window.
var xmlReq:URLRequest = new URLRequest("XML/ImagesData01.xml");
var xmlLoader:URLLoader = new URLLoader();
xmlLoader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, xmlLoaded);
xmlLoader.load(xmlReq);
[Code]....
I am working in flash and php.. I want to write a text file from flash via php. The thing is when I click on button it rites and redirects to another page. I have stopped the re-direction. 2ndly I want that instead of on click of button I want the variables to be passed to php and write a text file when a frame is loaded. Its basically a gallery, where images are loaded one after another. I want that when one image is loaded via xml. It should write a text file with Hit = 1, so that I know that the image is viewed. All things is working fine, except when I use GetURl on loading the image a new window opens( blank) and my flash file goes off.. Is there any way to stop a blank page opening.
View 2 RepliesI have a flash button embedded into a css/HTML page that I want to use to navigate into a new page without opening a new window. Here's the code I'm using in the SWF which I got from the adobe tv tutorial:Here is the test page that I have embedded the flash button in:The flash button is the "about Ian" button on the upper left. I want the navigation to be like the traditional rollovers on the page. (I'm working my way up to having the embedded flash button fade into place, that's why I'm using flash.)
// 1. Event handler function
function clickHandler (Event:MouseEvent): void { trace("CLICK!"); navigateToURL(new URLRequest("http://ianmartinphotography.com/about.html")); } // 2.

View 1 RepliesI'm using the Flash CS4 IDE, and the first page of my site takes a lot longer to load than I want it to. So I wanted to go through the varied images / symbols / movie clips / sounds and so on to see where all the memory is being chewed up. When I go into my library, however, I can see the Name, LInkage, usecound and Type of my elements, but no mention of file size and I can't seem to find any right click menu that lets me add file size to the list of details being displayed. Is there a way to make it show file size? Or some workaround? And are there any best practices to reduce file size aside from using symbols for anything that's used more than once and reducing image and sound quality?
View 4 Repliesis it somehow possible to open a HTML popup window from within Flash and have it receive text data from Flash which should be printed ... and this all only in AS3 and Javascript (since no server-side scripting is available)?
View 2 RepliesLet me ask how to program an html page to move to a new web page on user's clicking an item of an embedded flash movie? But , in detail, I actually want to do a little different thing. I want that the parent html page remains there ,instead I want a child html frame has a new page after user's clicking the list item of the embedded flash movie.
View 2 RepliesI have a site where all the pages have a common SWF embedded at the top (Nav and banner), but the rest of the page is HTML.Everything is working fine, but I'm finding the 'independence' between the HTML and Flash is making for some sloppy transitions from page to page.I was expecting the SWF to be delayed, at least for the first page visit(and I have a preload routine inside the swf to make it's delay and appearance a bit more visually pleasant), but was surprised to sometimes find the SWF appearing and playing while the HTML content was delayed (resulting in a SWF floating in black).What I'm wondering is if there's a way I can do some sort of preload on my index page.BUT, not the standard one that I'm sure everyone would suggest (like the javascript image 'preload', or the newer 'css visibility' preload trick). The problem with the standard one is that it doesn't check to see if everything is loaded.What I'm after is a routine on my index page that invisibly loads some of the elements from my inner pages (common swf, maybe some of the images) and WAITS until it's done before moving to the inner pages (displaying the company logo and/or a load status in the meantime).Many people would suggest a preloader inside the common SWF on my inner pages (which I have), but the problem with that on its own is that it doesn't stop the HTML from displaying.
I'm trying to figure out a way to do a preloader (like those in a SWF, which loops until everything is loaded) that controls both the SWF AND the HTML.Recently, I found that you can use one swf to preload another, which would be a potential solution, as I could make an SWF on the index page whose sole purpose is to load (invisibly) the common SWF, displaying the load status and then loading an inner html page once it's done.Problem is, I have bee having trouble finding the coding for that, as most searches for preloaders end up being about standard preloaders, where it's monitoring the same SWF that the code is on, as opposed to controlling a second, external SWF.Can someone point me to or provide me with the proper coding/procedure for a preloader that controlls a second external swf or give me a better solution?
one?
Flash full screen actionscript works and opens in flash player only, but not when imported into html and open for web browsers
View 1 RepliesI have a html/flash site now, [URL]. i access email from my site itself by giving the userid and pwd text box which i copied from the actual website hosting my email access. i copied the entire <form...></form> tag to my page and thus was able to put the name and pwd in my home page only and access the email in a separate window. now i have redesigned my webpage using only flash. i would like to know how i can implement the same using flash. as i have not much experience using action scripting i am a bit stuck about how you pass the hidden form variables. the below is the the exact form syntax:

when you go to the home.html page an animation will play from start and then stop at the end of it. However, for all other pages i.e contact.html aboutus.html we need the animation to skip to the end straight away and not to play the whole animation through. I was thinking this would be controlled by a variable or some kind of external text file ect. Basically in the first frame the actionscript needs to basically say
"if this html page is aboutus.html then go to the last frame and stop" and with the index page it would say "if this html page is index.html then keep playing"
- I made a flash-based website using Flash CS3 and then embedded the file into a blank html page with Dreamweaver cs3.-All my buttons, linking, and content were made in Adobe Flash CS3 using ActionScript 2.0 (AS2).The issue I am encountering is that when i click on some buttons that have get URL codes, they will not load the html files assigned to the As2 code of the button. The html files are supposed to load in a separate browser window for each html page assigned to each button. The html files are located within subfolders in my Main Site Root Folder.All my AS2 code is Object-based; meaning I applied it directly to my button symbols.

View 1 RepliesI would like to ask when swf object rendering at the html page? Is it rendered only it's visible? If swf at the page bottom that is not visible, will swf be rendered when I scroll down? The problem is that swf object raises some events when it's rendered and I would like to force rendering even if swf object is not visible.

I was given a .FLA containing a banner and was asked to create an input text field and a button that, when clicked, opens a new window with the address, say "www.mywebsite.com/page.php?value=..." where "..." is what the user types in the input text field. The page the user is sent to then performs some action. Now they're asking me to make the page automatically perform that action, as in, they want the .FLA to send the value typed in by the user to that page at [URL] without the user actually going to that page at all. Is this flash-related or even possible?
In short what I'm asking is: Is it at all possible, in principle, to hand a value over to a .php page using flash and then make that page perform an action without being opened? If so could you point me in the direction of how to do it?
I am still learning Action Script but I have a problem with writing the full script for combing navigate to new URL and gotoAndPlay. More specifically what I want to do is use a button which when clicked will open a new page and then start playing my Flash movie at a certain frame on the Timeline. I have used buttons to navigate to a new URL and used the gotoAndPlay ( ) ; command to play a certain frame, both have been successful but when I combine the two I run into trouble. What happens is the new page loads correctly and goes to the specific frame but then opens the browser in a new window with the movie playing from the beginning. The correct sequence within the correct Webpage is playing but only if I close the current page, in other words what I am trying to achieve is running but in the background.
View 8 RepliesI have movieclip in my php page. I have button in that clip. What code should I use for change all page to an other one because when I use
on (release){getURL("[URL]");}
It opens that page at swf file's spot but I don't want it. I tried
on (release){ getURL("[URL]", "_blank");}
But it opens in new tab. I want to open new page in same tab. Is there any way to do that?
I added a Flash animation to a web page, and instead of showing it, I get this Canceled opening the page error (that, or it just shows this big blank space) in all of the browsers I've tried (IE, Firefox, Safari, Chrome, Opera). Adobe says Flash won't play in a 64-bit browser. I made sure I'm using Safari's 32-bit mode; it still won't play. I empty the cache, reset Safari, still nothing. I admit to not having loads of Flash experience, but this strikes me as odd.g
View 1 RepliesI am creating a standalone projector (CD with autorun). This means my swf files are NOT contained within html. I would like to, when clicking on button, open a popup html page with specific dimensions. I was wondering if it is possible to do that, and what AS to use,
or if I have the obligation, to openpopups, to launch my swf files within html mother page.
Here is the code of button that works (but does not open popup):
on (press) {
getURL("URL", "_blank");
}
Here is the code for popup but does not work (opens html page normally):
on (press) {
getURL("URL", "", "width=580,height=400,left=100,top=100");
}
I have a problem trying to call a page without it opening up a new tab. Was wondering what is the equivalent of the following command (I was told that this is AS2.0 command).
getURL('option1.html', '_self');
I tried the command below but it open option1.html in a new tab.
function callxyz(evt:Event):void{
navigateToURL (new URLRequest:"option1.html"));
}
I want to put my flash animation o the top of the page, and when i click buttons, it should call a new html, but splitted the below half screen. the top should always be the same, and the half screen should be a new html.
View 1 RepliesI made a navigation movie clip with buttons, whom I want to be set in one frame- so the navigation MC will stand still while the contents body will change in another frame. View 1 RepliesI have a flash header for an html site that is about a megabyte and obviously needs a preloader. Unfortunately it won't work to have the preloader loading at the top while the rest of the html below is visible — it will end up looking like the top navigation is cut off, as the top 10 pixels of the nav bar is actually in the swf header (fully loaded it will look contiguous)Is there a way to preload it in one html page and then once it's loaded into the cache automatically jump to the page with the big swf?
View 1 RepliesSo the following code allows us to open an HTML link with the click of a button
function callLink(event:MouseEvent):void
{
var myURL:URLRequest = new URLRequest("http://www.adobe.com/");[code].......
The problem is that this always opens the link in a new window. So what if I want it to open in the same window? Changing the line to:
var myURL:URLRequest = new URLRequest("http:url...); results in a compiler error.I am embedding this swf on a web page of my own, so there are no security concerns regarding giving flash access.
