Professional :: What Code To Navigate From Page Without Opening A New Page
Feb 11, 2010
I have a flash button embedded into a css/HTML page that I want to use to navigate into a new page without opening a new window. Here's the code I'm using in the SWF which I got from the adobe tv tutorial:Here is the test page that I have embedded the flash button in:The flash button is the "about Ian" button on the upper left. I want the navigation to be like the traditional rollovers on the page. (I'm working my way up to having the embedded flash button fade into place, that's why I'm using flash.)
// 1. Event handler function
function clickHandler (Event:MouseEvent): void { trace("CLICK!"); navigateToURL(new URLRequest("http://ianmartinphotography.com/about.html")); } // 2.
I have 10 buttons for various pages on a website I am building. I am only dealing with the first 2 buttons so far: home and about (laborLaw). On my about page, I wanted to have buttons to navigate to another frame where the viewer can Read More Details. In order to get my button to work, I had to type about_mc. before the event listener of that button. Here's the code that worked.
about_mc.laborLaw1_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, laborLaw1); function laborLaw1(evtObj:MouseEvent):void{ gotoAndStop("laborLaw1_fl"); }
So I am now able to navigate to frames from buttons inside the mc. My next task was to build a close button to navigate back to the about page from the "Read More Details" page on a 101. Here's the code I used on frame 101:
(stop); // the following is to navigate back to "about" (Labor Page) closeLabor1_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, returnLabor); function returnLabor(evtObj:MouseEvent):void{ gotoAndStop("about"); }
That worked great BUT, once I navigate BACK to the about page using the closeLabor1 button, I am no longer able to navigate to any other button such as the home button. Here's a video showing exactly what happens. [URL]
how to one page to another page without opening new window only url changed using flex?for example you can click log in button user name and password correct then going to home page without opening new window at the same window..
I added a Flash animation to a web page, and instead of showing it, I get this Canceled opening the page error (that, or it just shows this big blank space) in all of the browsers I've tried (IE, Firefox, Safari, Chrome, Opera). Adobe says Flash won't play in a 64-bit browser. I made sure I'm using Safari's 32-bit mode; it still won't play. I empty the cache, reset Safari, still nothing. I admit to not having loads of Flash experience, but this strikes me as odd.g
i'm trying to build a flash site and ran into a problem... i have a gallery page with a bunch of page numbers at the top. when you click on one, a movieclip loads of some images coming in.so the problem i'm having is that i made a little animation for when you roll the mouse over the page number (they scale up when the mouse is over, scale back when the cursor moves away)... what it's doing is when you roll over, it goes to a certain frame in the timeline and plays that animation.that's all working cool, but i need it to not do that once it's clicked on. so basically when you actually click on a page number, the over script should stop until you go to another page... here's the code i've written,
function over(event:MouseEvent):void { this.gotoAndPlay(30);} function out(event:MouseEvent):void {[code].....
I'm using the Flash CS4 IDE, and the first page of my site takes a lot longer to load than I want it to. So I wanted to go through the varied images / symbols / movie clips / sounds and so on to see where all the memory is being chewed up. When I go into my library, however, I can see the Name, LInkage, usecound and Type of my elements, but no mention of file size and I can't seem to find any right click menu that lets me add file size to the list of details being displayed. Is there a way to make it show file size? Or some workaround? And are there any best practices to reduce file size aside from using symbols for anything that's used more than once and reducing image and sound quality?
I would like to create my page links so when I roll over the text(link) enlarges and then once pressed a swf animation plays.When it stops it automatically directs to the desired page.
I have used flash in the head of my pages and have added navigation bar within that header I have attached code to the message so you are able to see the actionscript I have used to control said navigation. The problem is this does not seem to be working as I cannot navigate from one page to another
I have a site where all the pages have a common SWF embedded at the top (Nav and banner), but the rest of the page is HTML.Everything is working fine, but I'm finding the 'independence' between the HTML and Flash is making for some sloppy transitions from page to page.I was expecting the SWF to be delayed, at least for the first page visit(and I have a preload routine inside the swf to make it's delay and appearance a bit more visually pleasant), but was surprised to sometimes find the SWF appearing and playing while the HTML content was delayed (resulting in a SWF floating in black).What I'm wondering is if there's a way I can do some sort of preload on my index page.BUT, not the standard one that I'm sure everyone would suggest (like the javascript image 'preload', or the newer 'css visibility' preload trick). The problem with the standard one is that it doesn't check to see if everything is loaded.What I'm after is a routine on my index page that invisibly loads some of the elements from my inner pages (common swf, maybe some of the images) and WAITS until it's done before moving to the inner pages (displaying the company logo and/or a load status in the meantime).Many people would suggest a preloader inside the common SWF on my inner pages (which I have), but the problem with that on its own is that it doesn't stop the HTML from displaying.
I'm trying to figure out a way to do a preloader (like those in a SWF, which loops until everything is loaded) that controls both the SWF AND the HTML.Recently, I found that you can use one swf to preload another, which would be a potential solution, as I could make an SWF on the index page whose sole purpose is to load (invisibly) the common SWF, displaying the load status and then loading an inner html page once it's done.Problem is, I have bee having trouble finding the coding for that, as most searches for preloaders end up being about standard preloaders, where it's monitoring the same SWF that the code is on, as opposed to controlling a second, external SWF.Can someone point me to or provide me with the proper coding/procedure for a preloader that controlls a second external swf or give me a better solution? one?
I have a project for a site that sells fishing lures.I want to have an animated index page before moving on to the home page. My idea is to have a boat sitting on a pond fishing lines in the water, when a fish jumps out of the water, the water ripples, the next time you see the fish it's got a hook in it mouth and jumping out of the water.how do I go about it? How to I create the water rippling? I think with the fish I can do easily enough with it jumping on and off stage. Would I do the water with shape tweens?
I have a link in my flash and when I click it ,it opens new window and navigte me to other pages but still the original page remain on the screen but I want to navigate from the original page in the same window what should I do ?

I am having difficulty navigating to different MXML pages in my Flex application. I checked some other questions on SO about it but they seemed to be to do with tab navigation. I am trying to navigate from one MXML page to another via Actionscript code.
Basically what I want to know is how to have a page be navigable by the movement of the mouse like in Greg Martin's online gallery: [URL] I just want to know how to create that movement following the mouse.
I want to learn actionscript properly, but it's for my final project for school and I'm a bit short with time. I'm in a design course, so they don't bother to teach us coding (design courses are lame, I should have gone with programming), but I really wanted to know how to create this effect in order to make what I had in mind.
I have a website that plays video1 when it opens. When you navigate to next page the video stops. One of the buttons on the second page plays video2. The problem is that video 2 won't stop using the same command that made video1 stop.[code]
I prepared a movie and put into my aspx page and there is a button on this movie which navigates to another aspx page. It has to use querystring information to decide which page to go.
-The page which i put my flash movie is : entry.aspx -If the page is : entry.aspx?lang=tr : it will go to the turkish page on button click, (url : "mturkish.aspx") -if the page is : entry.aspx?lang=en : it will go to the english page on button click, (url : "menglish.aspx")
I am creating a website using the slide presentation template. However, when I navigate to a page I have already viewed, it only shows the last frame of the slide rather than starting from frame 1 of the slide. Is there I way I can tell button to go to a slide and play from frame 1 regarless of how many times the slide has been viewed?
I have an movieclip playing as auto start on the first page of my website. The component continues to play when I navigate away from the page. How can I stop the playback of the movie if it has not completed when navigation away from the page is invoked. I have search and am unable to find such an event using an FLVPlayback component. Presently there is no code in actionscript to display here.
I have a problem with a preloader on a slideshow. The preloader works perfectly the first time the slideshow is loaded but if you move to another frame and then return the loader bar loads in the top left hand corner of the stage and does not function, it just duplicates every time you navigate back to the page.
I have just done couple of banners for Dettol with BG sound, now the client wants the sound to be stopped when he navigates away to a different web pageThe issue is Mouse-over the banner and press alt-tab. The music keeps playing and you can't stop it!Without mouse-over (music is playing at thispoint), press alt-tab and go to another application. Press alt-tab and comeback to the browser and the music starts playing, even though the mouse is not over the animation for reference
I have a master page and a child page and have placed the javascript code inside the child page for flash movie.
The problem is the movie seems working when there is a alert on, without at least one alert msg, the code does not work, I am sure you people can solve, I can see that the following code works well in both Mozilla and IE, but only if the alert is ON, if I put it off, then the code does not work. Can anybody tell me what is the workaround :
I have this script (below) and I'm using the next/prev button script to navigate back and forth. When I navigate back to the first page which has the actionscript code to load the music, it begins to load the song again and they overlap. How do I stop loading when song is already on?
var audio:Sound = new Sound(); var req:URLRequest = new URLRequest("MenuBackground.mp3"); audio.load(req); var channel:SoundChannel = audio.play(0,1000); var xForm:SoundTransform = new SoundTransform(); musicOn_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, playSound); [Code] .....
I was given a .FLA containing a banner and was asked to create an input text field and a button that, when clicked, opens a new window with the address, say "www.mywebsite.com/page.php?value=..." where "..." is what the user types in the input text field. The page the user is sent to then performs some action. Now they're asking me to make the page automatically perform that action, as in, they want the .FLA to send the value typed in by the user to that page at [URL] without the user actually going to that page at all. Is this flash-related or even possible?
In short what I'm asking is: Is it at all possible, in principle, to hand a value over to a .php page using flash and then make that page perform an action without being opened? If so could you point me in the direction of how to do it?
Im making an interactive video menu system in flash cs5, Ive split each menu page into labeled sections along the timeline. I have the following code placed in a specific labeled section so it should jump to the "Directory Screen" when the 3 key is pressed:
But when it goes to the Directory Screen, if I press 3 again it shouldnt do anything but flash seems to remember the code and when I press 3 again on the "Directory Screen" it skips to the next labeled item for some reason.
I am still learning Action Script but I have a problem with writing the full script for combing navigate to new URL and gotoAndPlay. More specifically what I want to do is use a button which when clicked will open a new page and then start playing my Flash movie at a certain frame on the Timeline. I have used buttons to navigate to a new URL and used the gotoAndPlay ( ) ; command to play a certain frame, both have been successful but when I combine the two I run into trouble. What happens is the new page loads correctly and goes to the specific frame but then opens the browser in a new window with the movie playing from the beginning. The correct sequence within the correct Webpage is playing but only if I close the current page, in other words what I am trying to achieve is running but in the background.
