View 7 RepliesI am an html/css programmer and don't know much about Flash. I've just been asked to update this site which has many Flash elements. I just dissected the site but can't figure out where the slideshow is coming from on the home.html page. I opened the index.swf object and there are no images just a background. I believe the original designer used Flashbox for the slideshow and Flash as the backdrop? I think I have the other galleries (click View Rings portfolio or another portfilio) figured out.
It looks like it's pulling in a Flash file and the Flash file is pulling in images for the slideshow (at the bottom) from the images.xml file. I opened the Flash file (image gallery.swf) and the full pop up -- background and large photo and slideshow -- are included in the .swf file unlike the index.swf file. Am I correct? Not sure if a Flash file would pull in images from an images.xml file. How do I edit the Flash file if it's not pulling the images from the images.xml file? When I open the file it just shows me the .swf file in design view.Is this over my head and should I hire someone with Flash and Flashbox experience?
i'm trying to build a flash site and ran into a problem... i have a gallery page with a bunch of page numbers at the top. when you click on one, a movieclip loads of some images coming in.so the problem i'm having is that i made a little animation for when you roll the mouse over the page number (they scale up when the mouse is over, scale back when the cursor moves away)... what it's doing is when you roll over, it goes to a certain frame in the timeline and plays that animation.that's all working cool, but i need it to not do that once it's clicked on. so basically when you actually click on a page number, the over script should stop until you go to another page... here's the code i've written,

I have a drag and drop game using a couple external ActionScript files .My game works and all..check there answers and correct ones go into place if they missed some.Now at the end I want a reset button..My movie is all in one key frame and all script are in my .as files
How can I reload everthing as if they were just coming to the page..? with All drags enabled and eveything in is its correct.x and .y places...All var are equal to what they need to be equal to etc..
I working on a Flash quiz that will trace the users coming from a particular page on a website. If the user comes from that page then a link will not be displayed in the quiz. If they don't come from that page then the link will be displayed, or the link will be turned on if you will. The reason for the dynamic functionality, is to avoid creating two flash files that do the same thing, and then maintained on a regular basis.

View 1 RepliesI have a site where all the pages have a common SWF embedded at the top (Nav and banner), but the rest of the page is HTML.Everything is working fine, but I'm finding the 'independence' between the HTML and Flash is making for some sloppy transitions from page to page.I was expecting the SWF to be delayed, at least for the first page visit(and I have a preload routine inside the swf to make it's delay and appearance a bit more visually pleasant), but was surprised to sometimes find the SWF appearing and playing while the HTML content was delayed (resulting in a SWF floating in black).What I'm wondering is if there's a way I can do some sort of preload on my index page.BUT, not the standard one that I'm sure everyone would suggest (like the javascript image 'preload', or the newer 'css visibility' preload trick). The problem with the standard one is that it doesn't check to see if everything is loaded.What I'm after is a routine on my index page that invisibly loads some of the elements from my inner pages (common swf, maybe some of the images) and WAITS until it's done before moving to the inner pages (displaying the company logo and/or a load status in the meantime).Many people would suggest a preloader inside the common SWF on my inner pages (which I have), but the problem with that on its own is that it doesn't stop the HTML from displaying.
I'm trying to figure out a way to do a preloader (like those in a SWF, which loops until everything is loaded) that controls both the SWF AND the HTML.Recently, I found that you can use one swf to preload another, which would be a potential solution, as I could make an SWF on the index page whose sole purpose is to load (invisibly) the common SWF, displaying the load status and then loading an inner html page once it's done.Problem is, I have bee having trouble finding the coding for that, as most searches for preloaders end up being about standard preloaders, where it's monitoring the same SWF that the code is on, as opposed to controlling a second, external SWF.Can someone point me to or provide me with the proper coding/procedure for a preloader that controlls a second external swf or give me a better solution?

I have a project for a site that sells fishing lures.I want to have an animated index page before moving on to the home page. My idea is to have a boat sitting on a pond fishing lines in the water, when a fish jumps out of the water, the water ripples, the next time you see the fish it's got a hook in it mouth and jumping out of the water.how do I go about it? How to I create the water rippling? I think with the fish I can do easily enough with it jumping on and off stage. Would I do the water with shape tweens?

-The page which i put my flash movie is : entry.aspx
-If the page is : entry.aspx?lang=tr : it will go to the turkish page on button click, (url : "mturkish.aspx")
-if the page is : entry.aspx?lang=en : it will go to the english page on button click, (url : "menglish.aspx")

I have a master page and a child page and have placed the javascript code inside the child page for flash movie.
The problem is the movie seems working when there is a alert on, without at least one alert msg, the code does not work, I am sure you people can solve, I can see that the following code works well in both Mozilla and IE, but only if the alert is ON, if I put it off, then the code does not work. Can anybody tell me what is the workaround :

i've created a php file which grabs ID, name, URL1, URL2, and Price from a table and puts it into an array called 'loadpics'.Now here is where i'm lost.How can i then put pictures into flash from the URLS in the variable? how to tell flash to create the pictures... Do i need to use a component or something? Or do i create a movieclip and somehow load them in there? if someone has an xml script example of putting images from the urls in the variable created by the php.
View 3 RepliesWhen i zoom into the page then move around the edge of the page can be moved past the edge of the browser window showing the static page which appears at the start of the document. Is it possible to use actionscript to stop the page being dragged past a certain point so the static page is not seen? On the example below the static page is white so it does not pose too much of a problem however im using the static page as a sort of instruction page and it looks a bit rubbish if the user drags a page past the edge of the view window and see's the original page. Unfortunately it won't work to have the preloader loading at the top while the rest of the html below is visible — it will end up looking like the top navigation is cut off, as the top 10 pixels of the nav bar is actually in the swf header (fully loaded it will look contiguous)Is there a way to preload it in one html page and then once it's loaded into the cache automatically jump to the page with the big swf?
