I'm trying to print a mc which is bigger than the default page size. I want to change the page/margin size so the content can fit in the page without scaling. Per the API reference [URL] the page settings are readonly. How can I print something bigger than the default page size? Is it doable in AS2 or AS3?

I have a master page and a child page and have placed the javascript code inside the child page for flash movie.
The problem is the movie seems working when there is a alert on, without at least one alert msg, the code does not work, I am sure you people can solve, I can see that the following code works well in both Mozilla and IE, but only if the alert is ON, if I put it off, then the code does not work. Can anybody tell me what is the workaround :

The frameset has two frames, one is called header and the other is called content.I want the flash menu to stay in the header frame (which it does) and I want the links to change the page in the content frame.I tried targeting the content frame in my function that changes pages, but for some reason it continues to open the new page (link) in a new window.

i'm trying to build a flash site and ran into a problem... i have a gallery page with a bunch of page numbers at the top. when you click on one, a movieclip loads of some images coming in.so the problem i'm having is that i made a little animation for when you roll the mouse over the page number (they scale up when the mouse is over, scale back when the cursor moves away)... what it's doing is when you roll over, it goes to a certain frame in the timeline and plays that animation.that's all working cool, but i need it to not do that once it's clicked on. so basically when you actually click on a page number, the over script should stop until you go to another page... here's the code i've written,

I have an swf loaded in a browswer (fire fox) and i use log on console using [code]I have initialized my swf in the document class on the Event.Added to stage.and i have a clean up function performing all the clean up/exit process in the code on the event [code]Now Doubt that this is being called/ activated/trigered as i am not able to log the start and end of the function to the console.The console log is of firebug.What exactly am i missing here? I would like to call the cleanup function on reload of page or relode of swf or change of page.How do i trigger and log it properly
View 1 RepliesI'm trying to edit a Flash file, that get it's data from and XML file.Now when you click on one of the menu items, the page + page title should change, but somehow the page title remains the same. (at least for the first 3 menu items) But when you go to the last menu item and then back to one of the first 3 menu items, the correct page title is shown.I'm no flash / AS expert, so I can't really find out what the problem is, but it seems like it has something to do with this function

I'm trying to print a movieclip from flash. I'm using the PrintJob pageWidth and pageHeight properties to scale the clip to be as large as possible. Also, I'm trying to center the movieclip on the page.Now, in the standalone player, this works. In a browser however, the margins appear to be zero:[code]But when printing, the margins are there, and mess up the page layout (not centered + cropping).
View 0 RepliesI have a website which im designing exclusively in flash. The project size is 1000x500. The video which im using is 320x150. On the stage ive set the player to 320x150. The stage size is 1000x500 (thats the size and span of the website). When the page works from the internet. It expands to fill the screen of the viewing computer. Which is what i want anyway since Ive set my publish settings to get this. But the video player gets scaled along with the page that scales to occupy the viewing screen. So when the player becomes a little larger than its orginal size the video looks low quality. Is there a way that the player alone could be set to maintain its orginal size of 320x150 and not scale because this is causing the video to get distorted and pixellated ?
View 1 RepliesI have a flash file (a flash navigation bar actually, which gets loaded in all the webpages inside the website). What I am trying to do is place an external swf file on it in a desired position when the corresponding page is being loaded. I am using FlashVars (variable name -> 'movieName') to pass the name of the movie clips. These variables are read by the navigation swf file and the corresponding swf file should be loaded in the area specified. Now, to create a container, I am using createEmptyMovieClip() method which will host all the external swf files.
The swf files are all being loaded but with a lot of problems. First, no matter what I try, the swf file comes at a fixed place (which is way off from where it is supposed to be). I have tried checking if the container loaded the movie before fixing its position but it changed nothing. Although it did change the position of a weird background colour box I am getting when the movie starts loading - which brings me to the second problem.
A rectangular box flashes once when the external swf is loaded, and its position is being affected by whatever I am setting the _x & _y values of the container movies to. I have no idea why it is happening as it doesn't happen when I test that swf seperately.

View 5 RepliesI am attempting to dynamically display a series of questions with answers in my flash movie from an existing ASP page. Initially, the dynamic questions imported from an ASP page appear on the Flash page (question 1, 2, 3, etc.). When the user clicks on a question, the flash movie advances a frame and displays the answer. I can display the questions properly, but I am having a difficult time carrying over the question ID to the next frame so that the appropriate answer will display.
The current database fields look like this:
-QuestionID
-Question
-AnswerID
-Answer
This is very simple to do in ASP or PHP but I am having a tough time trying to tie everything together in Flash. Should I create two separate ASP pages, one to query the questions and one to query the answers? How do I carry the QuestionID to the next frame in Flash?
I have an AS3 project where some content had to be scrolled in a browser to be seen.The problem is that when a button is clicked where the html scroller has been used the flash frame to which it goes is in the same position ie at the bottom of the frame. Is there a way to make sure that the new frame is at the top?I have tried using

If I take the same code and put it in an "ordinary" webpage it works fine - look at [URL] What I had hoped to acheive is the effect in this page where the flash movie resizes to match the size of the browser window. I am using the script AC_RunActiveContent.js and calling it from the webpage with the height and width attributes set to 100% - it seems to be sizing the flash at 100x100 instead.....
View 3 RepliesIf I have an HTML splash page that has a embedded SWF consisting of a preloader (for itself) at the start of its timeline, then a 5 second hold (no new Flash material), and then have a number of images on HTML page in a <div style="display:none;visiblity:hidden;">, all set with sizes of 1x1:2) Does the SWF get priority with the download, or are both the SWF and images given the same download priority?3) How would I preload (on the splash page) a second SWF that is used in the inner page? Would I embed it as usual, but use the CSS display:none, and set the size as 1x1, as I do with images?
4) Is there a better way to preload the SWF, where the main (splash) SWF actually loops while it downloads the second swf? Would I be loading that second SWF into the splash SWF on a different document level? What ActionScript commands would I use for that? loadMovieNum()? Would I put the incoming second SWF off stage, or set its visibility to hidden?I figured I'd preload some of the interface/common graphics for the inner HTML page that the visitor is brought to after the initial Flash splash page. Even without a preloader that would loop until all the content is loaded, I figured I could just have the splash page hold for a bit, and give the hidden <div> images a chance to load in the background. Obviously, using that method wouldn't guarantee that all the imags load, since it's unmonitored, but would at least give them a bit of a head start

I programmatically add the children to my TitleWindow and I would like the TitleWindow changing its size in order to avoid scroll-bars.

for flash 8 I have created a nice flash site to show some portfolio work. I have all the thumbnails in place but I wanted them to open a new HTML window in the size of the portfolio piece. How is this done and will it be blocked by popup blockers. edit: the html page i want to link to is in the same folder as the flash site.
View 1 RepliesI would like to have some dynamic content on the pages... I want to use it for a website. The problem is, when you click anywhere on the page, it reacts. I tried putting an MC over it to override it, I tried removing the Mouse listener temporarily... I'm not too advanced with AS, but I thought I'd give it a try... Well I just can't figure it out.
Is there any way that I could make it so that when the mouse is in a certain area and is clicked, the pages do not react like they should? With the dynamic content I'm going to need scrollbars and stuff and that just isn't going to work unless I can do this.

I would like to assign different width and height size to my swf according to the videos sizes.
How can I do it ? Should i pass back values from Flash app with an External Call ?
Can I retrieve the height and width of the video before to pass it to flash app, so I can set the html wrapper parameters in advance ?
in the above page it is behaving just like wanted, EXCEPT want the top and left side (perhaps) to be 'pinned', meaning when resizing the browser window, the top does not disappear. I like that it resizes, and scales, yet, keeps the whole viewport filled. Don't like that it can disappear at the top if the browser window isnt just right.
if it is not possible to scale smaller but can scale larger, and keep the browser window full, that is ok too.
I have used printjob in my project for printing. I have a stage with images, shapes and text etc in printing group. While printing, it takes some two to three minutes to getting print a single page. The Print Spooler window shows that 60MB for each page.
reduce this file size or how can i print without taking this long time.
