Apr 1, 2009I have basic knowledge of Flash and AS3.0. Suppose i have a flash swf file(main.swf). In this main.swf file, i loaded another swf file(sub.swf) by writing the following code snippet in main.swf file as shown below:

Now, how to acess the data present in main.swf into sub.swf.Note: Here data represents values/data stored in variables/objects of main.swf file.

May 9, 2011pass variables from one flash file to another? Basically there's a flash navigator that has multiple links in it. Once clicked it needs to pass a variable to go to another keyframe in another flash file. I'm guessing the receiving flash needs to be able to receive a variable and if variable == a certain variable it goes to and plays a specific keyframe.

Apr 28, 2011I've created a Flash Animation (CS5, ActionScript 3) and converted it to SWF. The flash animation needs the values of 3 variables (defined in the swf timeline) BEFORE it starts running in my Flex application. I've embedded the swf file using swfloader in Flex, but I need to pass the parameters from Flex into Flash before the animation starts. How do I do this?
The way I have my flex code setup below, the variables are not being updated. I get an exception every time it gets to the changeParams function because it can't find "Type", "Num1", etc.

Feb 15, 2010I'm loading 6 variables from a text file to populate an array, then using setInterval to populate two textfields every 5 seconds. IE7 gives me the "A script in this file is causing Flash Player 10 to run slowly do you want to abort this script?" It runs fine locally, but when I upload it, it won't work. Feb 21, 2009How can I make a bunch of variables from a for loop. for example for (var i=0; i<total; i++) {var bunch(i);}. that i make a bunch of variables named bunch1, bunch2, bunch3. I keep getting errors. I program and use so many different languages that I dont know if that can be done with AS3. my only other alternative i can think of is to create some sort of event dispatcher object array. but I dont know how to get them all to send events to one listener with there index number.

Jul 11, 2011There is a bird, and you control its upwards movement with a key. It has thrust, gravity, it works fine. The problem is I have a bunch of icicles that come at the bird that he is supposed to avoid. I tried this first with math random to use as an x coordinate and than move across the screen, but the icicles had the same x-coordinates sometimes. I tried does not equal(!=) but that doesn't work. I made an array and each number that came out of the array I assigned a different variable. This works fine. I put this variable into the x-coordinate such as mc.x=((n)*60)+480. I did this for five different icicles. All their differnt variables have a different value, and I put them into the same function for each individual video clip, but they still don't go to the right coordinate. Here is the test code just for the initial coordinate of each icicle before it moves...////////////////////////////Quote:

Flash :: Pass Variables From AS3 Swf To AS2 Swf?
Oct 13, 2010I am trying to load an AS2 swf from an AS3 swf. The AS2 swf which was written long back, expects parameters from the timeline(_root). These were passed to it before from HTML using flashvars. Now I am trying to get rid of the HTML pages, by directly loading the AS2 swf from the AS3 swf. However, when I try to load the AS2 swf using the Loader class, the swf loads fine, but the parameters are not getting passed on.
I tried to add the query string to the url parameter I used in the URL request used for the Loader, but that did not work.(Adding URL variables as data to URLRequest did not work either.)

ActionScript 1/2 :: Pass Variables Between Domains?
Apr 22, 2009So I have an SWF8 file as a player on one domain (unsecure). It loads and plays an SWF8 from another (secure) domain. So far so good. Trouble is, I need the player to send variables to the files it's playing so that links in that SWF will, well, link. I also need the player to receive some movie control commands in return. There must be a rule or two I'm violating, because while the file plays, anything that depends on a variable is just dead.
A note: Both files started out as SWF6. I understand I can only do what I'm trying to with SWF8, so I went through the code and fixed the case sensitive issues and did the conversion.
