I am trying to Pause and Play A song.Details:I made a new project. --> File > Import > Import to Library > (choose mp3 song)Drag mp3 song from Library to stage.Press (Ctrl+Enter)The result is that the song plays.Is there code to make the music "Pause" and "Play". Is there a way to directly influence the playing file?

Firstly, although I've been using Flash on and off for years (since CS3) I don't use it very often so I apologise if my issue seems simplistic.Basically, I used Flash CS3 for a few years to create basic animations for clients, involving simple scrolling text, without any problems.Recently I upgraded to the CS4 Master Suite and then CS5 Master Suite within a couple of days of each other and I now need to use Flash to make a change to an old animation.When I opened the CS3 file it appears as expected and I made the changes to the text (changing a word or two within a line of type).When I right clicked on the type relevant frames within the timeline I noticed that there is now more than one version of tween available, and that classic tween was already selected (I think I better buy a new teach yourself Flash CS5 book!)
Anyway, that was allI needed to do so I initially pressed return and the text scrolled across the stage as expected.But when I clicked on CONTROL / TEST MOVIE / TEST (or cmd+Return on my Mac) the SWF file that appears is static and the text does not scroll at all.If I publish the movie using Actionscript 3 or 2 the resulting SWF file is also totally static. But if I drop the SWF file into the relevant website folder and view it through Dreamweaver's browser view facility it works perfectly and scrolls just as expected.Equally, opening it using the Opera browser works too.
I've tried altering the CS3 file and testing the movie in Flash CS4 and Flash CS5 but the same thing happens.It's a bit time wasting and inefficient wanting to test an animation as a SWF file by double clicking on it and only being shown a static image.Is this a well known problem as I couldn't find any mention of it during my search?
i have two seperate movie clips on two seperate layers on the front page of my template. (loaded dynamically)
the layers are on top of one another.
the two movie clips work fine one their own on the template, but when i put them both on the template and I press their respective buttons the TOP movieclip's buttons control the BOTTOM movie clips actions. it's crazy.
i've tried to move them around but then it's just the reversed - the bottom buttons control the top movieclip.
Is it best to load the preloader from external file or place it directly into an already existing movie?

View 2 RepliesHow adobe plays the AS2 SWF file so beautifully, including being able to go to next frame or prev frame or zoom functions? I have tried many different ways to play an AS2 SWF in my flex (AS3) SWF loader and it is a very difficult problem. I use a AS2 Shell as a proxy and I use local connection to communicate between the two AVMs. The result is quite a horrible one because, I am not able to scale the swf very well and also have a torrid time with the debugger. Any special methods used by Adobe to achieve that in CS4 Flash or do they also use LocalConnection to play the AS2?
View 2 RepliesI have a problem with a swf file which will not play in web browser.It played fine until I updated my site.I tried typing the absolute path to the swf file in the browser address bar and found it straight away. When I clicked on it the screen stayed blank.I checked the path to the file and the flv file was relative to the document and not the site.
swf plays fine in flash player, flash, and locally on dreamweaver.I moved the swf up the file tree and changed the links accordingly but still would not play.I also tried saving it as a new swf from flash, but that doesn't play either.I added another swf to the containing folder and that played fine in the browser.When I open the fla file in flash it only shows a flv playback movie, not the elements, I think this is because it was created in after effects.Here is the link to the containing folder, the swf file is Home_page_movie_V2.swf

View 1 RepliesI use Hikari a C++ library which allow to display flash control in a texture for the Ogre 3D Engine. I have a flash control which play a sound (.mp3) when I set a param (param = 0 with arg = 1022). The string I sent to raw_CallFunction() is:
"<invoke name="SetParam" returntype="xml"><arguments><string>0</string><string>1022.000000</st ring></arguments></invoke>"
It works very well. But when I close the application, it crashes, even if the sound of the .mp3 is finished. It crashes only is an .mp3 sound have been played (all other setparams and getparams do not crash the application). I have the same problem with different flashes, and with different sounds. I don't think the source of the problem come from the Hikari library, but I think it come from the way i close the flash control. Is there something to do when I close the application after having played an mp3 in a flash control? A function to call?
I have created a Flash Demo in AS3. I simply need to use the swf file to demonstrate a workflow. The file plays perfectly on my computer however when I sent it to my team, the content was replaced with 5 moving grey dots.The publish settings are at Flash Player 10. My team all have flash player 10 but no cigar.

View 2 RepliesI did a bit of search without success to find if anything like this was answered before.Sorry for asking a silly question, I am a newbie and hence maybe missing something obvious.I used the Encoder to create the flv file and embedded the file in the timeline and the swf file plays the video just fine locally. For some reason, it's not playing after I uploaded it to the server. I did copy over all the files (swf)s) & flv). It's a very small video and I can't even see the video(just blank) while running the swf file after uploading the files on to the server. All other frames are working as expected.
View 1 RepliesOn my PC at work, I can drag a file from Windows Explorer directy into my Flash movie's library. I can't seem to figure out how to do this on a Mac. I tried selecting my file and dragging it to the Dock over the Flash icon, where I hit space bar to pull up the entire Flash program and can see the library, but when I drag my file into the library, nothing happens. Please tell me there's a way to do this - without saying something like "just import it from the menu" - if there is another way.

I have created a button in Flash CS4 with AS3. It is an invisible button over a test tube illustration. I have created an animation of an empty test tube illustration that fills with liquid when you click on the invisible button. The duration of the movie clip (test tube filling) is 26 frames at 18 frames per second (about 1.5 seconds).I have put in action script that sends the viewer to a URL when you click on the (invisible) test tube button and it works as expected.My problem is that when I test the button, it goes immediately to the URL without me being able to see the full animation of the test tube filling first.
My question:How can I delay the action of the button linking to the URL to allow the viewer to see the full 26 frames (about 1.5 seconds) of animation and THEN GO TO THE SPECIFIED URL?Found lots of stuff about delaying using intervals?? in ActionScript -not making any sense to me. I am a beginner/intermediate in Flash and know very little about AS - i find most of my AS stuff on line on forums etc.Here is my action script 3.0 on the last frame (26) of my animation. teach_btn is the invisible button.

PROBLEM: I am attempting to load in an external SWF file and once it is loaded, I wish to directly make the new Sprite/MovieClip into a button. However, the newly loaded Sprite/MovieClip seems to be resistant to be made into a button DIRECTLY. I would like to know why this is.

for first time decided to start using Classes to add my code instead of adding it directly in Flash and I really thought I knew how to handle this since I have created some re-usable classes before where you target an object by passing parameter etc,I thought that if I had one function (method) in my class and I wanted to call it from my .fla file all I needed to do was to create an instance of the class and then call my method.[code]But this doesn't work I get a message that says that it is missing arguments.how to use my code directly on a class and what are the differences of doing this versus putting the code directly on my .fla file and if it's even a good practice to do this?
View 10 RepliesI have some animation (programmatic, I'm NOT using keyframed animation in timeline), and some music I want to play in the background. Once the music file reaches the end (about 30 seconds long), I want to trigger the end of the animation functions.I figure I could either use an actionscript timer to trigger the end of the animation or a keyframe with actionscript that is placed on the timeline near the end of the song but these methods assume knowledge about the duration of the wave file. If I changed the framerate or updated the external wave file, these triggers would possibly no longer sync upIs there some sort of event listener or other detection method for an audio file to signal it has finished playing? Or maybe there is a way to get the duration of the audio file to use in the timer
View 3 RepliesI am using AS2 in CS5.5.I am creating a project for a class that introduced me to adobe flash. The issue is I have gotten to a certain point about 15 scenes. During say the 15th scene scrolling through the timeline animations works fine, playing it on test scene works fine. When I go to play it on test movie it stops at a certain point. At first I thought it might have been a misplaced stop action but there is none to be found. The weird part is every other scene I create after that continues to freeze as well, the images are there, but the animations won't play. All my previous animations play before those with the issue, it's justThese new ones won't play for some reason in test movie, but work completely fine in test scene and the timeline.

I used [url].... to create access for any domain (for test) and copied it directly into file server and also test if [url].... is accessible. I checked flashlog.txt and found that [url].... is loaded but will be ignored because of its syntax error - its generated by crossdomainmaker website and also correct with specifications and examples over internet, so what can I do?
Why not have the Adobe Flash CS5 product directly generate mp4 and other formats in addition to SWF?From my chair (as an Adobe Flash CS5 user) it
-Going about using other additional software has direct effect on a software budget.
-Costs extra manhours to gather information of how it is done.
-Costs extra manhours/user time to process.
-Perhaps even increases the likelihood for errors and noise in re-processing already processed files (SWF->{F4V,MOV,MP4}) (F4V->{MP4,MOV},)relative to the original source FLA file?
