Jun 13, 2010Recently, I found a great little Flash project that acts like a jukebox for external mp3 song files, and am using it on my website to play my song demos.I'm now trying to find if there is an existing solution like that for video. I just need some way to progressively download video files from my webspace when the thumbnail is clicked... and am now looking into some sort of Flash jukebox.
I've tried just embedding the video files into HTML, but they don't progressively download for some reason (even though they are saved as Progressive With Compressed Header). I've even tried using prettyPhoto (...a script that mimics a Lightbox like feature, where the whole page dims, and a floating window appears over your site, displaying any media, and allowing you to move back/forth through your list of media)..... works great, but again, not a progressive download, so you stare at a blank screen for a while.
Seems the only way it works is if I have the file on YouTube or some other site, then embed it or use the prettyPhoto app.So, can someone either tell me how to make the embedded file download (OT, but I figured I'd ask), or point at some existing Flash file that serves as a video jukebox, showing all media on a common window?

Mar 26, 2010I have created a Flash-based image gallery using a template purchased from Activeden.net and have successfully published this on a dedicated html page that contains nothing but the SWF file. I would now like to learn how to add an SWF movie to an existing web page. In other words, the movie would run within a rectangular space in a position of my choice surrounded by loads of other stuff.
My first attempts to add a Flash movie to an ASP.NET aspx page were only partially successful. The movie runs within its allocated space but I can only see the bottom third. The rest is cut off by the upper edge of the rectangle (which is big enough to take the whole movie).

Aug 24, 2004I need to load an external movie that includes some video. That external movie is like 95mb. How can I preload everything so that there is no lag when I get to the scene where I load the external swf? This movie, of course, is not getting put on the internet. I am using Flash as sort of a high end Powerpoint app. Not sure if this is just a basic preloader or not.

Mar 30, 2008I have created a preloader, and I want to tell the action script of the preloader once the file is done loading, put it away and load a new movie, or even a new flash file if i have to.here is the action script i have on the loader right now. Its just numbers counting from 1-100% and a .gif clip that plays but they are not connected in any way.

Professional :: SWF Movies Are Not Animated When The File's Opened Directly?
Nov 21, 2011Firstly, although I've been using Flash on and off for years (since CS3) I don't use it very often so I apologise if my issue seems simplistic.Basically, I used Flash CS3 for a few years to create basic animations for clients, involving simple scrolling text, without any problems.Recently I upgraded to the CS4 Master Suite and then CS5 Master Suite within a couple of days of each other and I now need to use Flash to make a change to an old animation.When I opened the CS3 file it appears as expected and I made the changes to the text (changing a word or two within a line of type).When I right clicked on the type relevant frames within the timeline I noticed that there is now more than one version of tween available, and that classic tween was already selected (I think I better buy a new teach yourself Flash CS5 book!)
Anyway, that was allI needed to do so I initially pressed return and the text scrolled across the stage as expected.But when I clicked on CONTROL / TEST MOVIE / TEST (or cmd+Return on my Mac) the SWF file that appears is static and the text does not scroll at all.If I publish the movie using Actionscript 3 or 2 the resulting SWF file is also totally static. But if I drop the SWF file into the relevant website folder and view it through Dreamweaver's browser view facility it works perfectly and scrolls just as expected.Equally, opening it using the Opera browser works too.
I've tried altering the CS3 file and testing the movie in Flash CS4 and Flash CS5 but the same thing happens.It's a bit time wasting and inefficient wanting to test an animation as a SWF file by double clicking on it and only being shown a static image.Is this a well known problem as I couldn't find any mention of it during my search?

I have tried to apply it to my own fla and everything seems to work fine EXCEPT I can't get any of the external swfs to load into the empty movie clip called "content". And yes, I have checked and rechecked to make sure that all MCs have instance names!
