I've been searching to find a simple answer to external preloaders, but it seems there are many ways to accomplish this with ac3.I am new to as3 and this is what I've come up with so far:

I have the following script for my preLoader (see below).Its a simple preLoader with a loading bar that goes from left to right with a percent read out.What I want is the percent text box to move along the _x with the load bar, so when the load bar is at 100% the percent text box is just above.

I need a preloader to include an external .swf (iPhone_334x500.swf) that is dynamically added later in the timeline. Currently, the preloader goes to 100% and then begins to load the external swf before completing and going to frame 2. Rather than just appear to sit at 100% for 20 secs while it is still loading my external swf, I would like to include the external swf's load time in the preloader data.
This is my "preloader" code on frame 1, which is empty except for the AS. (Just a basic bar and percent preloader.) I included all of my code just in case, so please ignore the font embedding and masking if it makes it easier.

Everything else is working except my dynamic text that should also be calculating the % of loading.
I Can simulate in flash file but not happen but when test on IE it's stay on 0%. Does anyone know how to have a preloader that shows a percent indicator when you are caching a shared library. The way I have it set up now is on the first frame of my main swf.playback is stopped until the trigger.swf (which calls the sharedlibrary.swf via the loadClip method) is cached. While it's stopped I just have a screen that says "now loading" (which is just some text on the main time line's keyframe) but I was wondering if there was a way to add a nice percent preloader instead. If anyone has read the book Flash 8 Beyond the Basics fromhey'll will probably know what I am talking about. I assume the script would need to monitor the caching of the shared library
I export all my stage assets to frame 1, so the external preloader FLA is the approach I've been using for a while to show the nice percentage before the real SWF is loaded. I've just finished with a project and I'm getting errors when the file is done loading.The file works fine as long as it's not it a Loader component (stand-alone SWF), but as soon as I try to get it in the preloader it gives me a ton of errors.
The only major thing I did differently with this project is that a number of classes have their own individual Event.ENTER_FRAME listeners and that *I'm making a lot of stage calls* from various classes to get locations and what-not. I'm thinking it might have something to do with the latter, since I used the stage width/height for a lot of the positioning (stage.stageWidth/2, stage.stageHeight/2, etc).
I'm trying to get a dynamic tex box to go from 0 to100%, 100% would be when videoEvent is ready. I cant think of a way to do this. Any suggestions? I guess I need to know how many bytes it takes for VideoEvent.READY to happen.heres my code as of right now..

I am trying to move an object across the stage while my preloader is going. (i want two fists to meet when the preloader hits 100%). i am not very good with AS but i have tried things such as this.fist1_mc._x = percent + 100; but i am just taking shots in the dark at this point.
i have created plain text field and managed to load it from external file using the AS3 code below. Now i want to load multiple text field but this time in a button, how can i do that?

When I simulate the download my preloader doesn't appear in my preview window, and I have no error message either. At first, not sure what the problem was I tried various preloader tutorials online hoping to find a solution. I only realized later on that my preloader didn't work because of my external jpg.How can I make my preloader (code below) load everything altogether? (elements in my scene + external jpg)

i am loading all thumbs and images in a container on a single frame using action script..but the size of the swf becomes 1.2 mb so i want to add a loader to it. the loader i am trying to add counts the frames but my file has just one frame so the loader doesnot show up..

I used the preloader AS3 found here and it work fine localy but in firefox 4.0.1 it doesnt show the percent and the scale of the progress bar. is there an issue ?

I've made a basic RSS news feed widget with a preloader. When I test the preloader in Flash it works fine, counting to 100% and bringing in the widget proper at the end. This happens both if I test the movie outright or simulate the download. But now I've embedded the preloader in an HTML file using swfobject 2.2, and the browser will only display the first frame of the preloader and go no further, ie it 'freezes' at 0%. When I open the actual preloader .swf file, it's the same - it just stops at 0% even though it worked fine previously when
I exported it from its .fla file.Weird thing is, if I bypass the preloader and embed the widget file in my HTML, it works fine. This is for an assignment however, and I need to build a preloader as part of the criteria.All files (ie the widget .fla and .swf, the html and the preloader .fla and .swf) are in the same folder. Someone advised me when I made a bitmap in the preloader into a movie clip to uncheck the "export in frame 1" box, so I did this. It didn't work. Then someone else advised me to make sure the textbox containing the percentage count was a classic textbox with dynamic text. I did, and it's still not working.
I am using an external preloader (loader.swf) to load the movie (ayproj.swf). The preloader works fine when running the .swf file in flash player and when simulating a download in flash cs5 but when i upload it to the internet and open the index.html in which the flash is in a 100% frame it either sticks on 100% (Ff and IE) or just says "pl" (chrome) - the initial text in the dynamic percentage text box.
I have my main swf file and two external swf files i'm trying to load into the main one. I have preloaders for each external swf file but when I have the main swf file it won't load the preloaders it seems to be loading the entire thing and then showing the swf. I am trying to build a website with a preview window to display pieces of work when you click on a thumbnail. Each piece of work will be it's own swf, because there will be several images to show in each example, and I want to have a cool blur/fade in and out of each, and I want it to loop.
Anyway, I am trying to figure out how to load the swf into a "preview box", and have a preloader calculating the size and all that. So when you click a button, depending on the size of the external swf, the preloader will pop up and on completion, the swf will load. Not sure where to put the preloader code or where I should put the preloader in the first place.
