I used the preloader AS3 found here and it work fine localy but in firefox 4.0.1 it doesnt show the percent and the scale of the progress bar.
is there an issue ?
How to show the Progress bar at 0%, as it currently shows around 50%+ rather than starting at 0%.

View 2 RepliesI'm trying to set up a preloader to show the load progress of the main swf, which has all of it's assets embedded. I found the factory class method as described on bit-101, but no load progress ever seems to show. The swf loads fine, but the bytesLoaded is always equal to bytesTotal and therefore the preloader is never called.

This correctly calls the Factory class first, and then instansiates Main and calls init(). But as I mentioned above the preloading is never shown as it seems to be loading everything straight away.Is this a problem with the way I'm embedding the images or because I'm testing locally?
I know how to setup a preloader and I have that working. But when I debug the flash application and simulate a download, it has a blank background until a few seconds have passed. I know it is "downloading" the swf file and I'm wondering if I can show a progress bar for that, or do I need to have the swf file as small as possible and pre load everything needed and have all assets as a separate file I fetch? I found something with ProgressEvent.PROGRESS but this only loads after the flash file is finished downloading.

Now in the very first frame of my main .swf I have the progress bar component setup running in manual mode (I'm running in manual mode because I'm not using the loader component in conjunction with the progress bar. I figured that I wouldn't need the loader just yet because this is the progress bar for the main movie and not for an external .swf...) with this code:

Now when I test it in FlashMX 2K4 Pro using "Simulate Download", everything works fine EXCEPT: Theres this white box that shows up right where my progress bar is in the first frame. After the progress bar loads (itself) then, you actually see the "candycane" indeterminate load bar and then after my other frames in the movie loads, it goes into my second frame and everything is cool.How can I make that white box go away? I tried using actionscript that would make the progress bar invisible until after it finished loading and then go to visible, but when I tried that, the component never came back visible. I just need to make that white box go away, it's taking away from the "beauty" of everything else. Also, my load bar doesn't show any percentages. It just flashes "loading" until after the rest of the frames are loaded. How can I get it to show the percentage of whats loaded so far?To download a copy of my .fla, just click here.
Discovered yesterday that the preloader I've been working with (loads external SWFs into levels based on this tutorial) which works fine on a local preview and IE, is having some major issues in Firefox. I thought this was a little bizarre at first but have since discovered that it could be something to do with 4 bytes that IE ignores but Firefox has a problem with. I've been searching for a solution that I can use pretty much constantly since then, and I'm stumped. Here's a link if you want to see it in (in)action: link
In IE, everything is good. Page loads, preloader starts at the bottom of the progress bar and progress is acurate. In Firefox, page loads, external swfs DO preload but progress bar doesn't display. When swfs are 100% loaded, the full progress bar appears with my "click to enter" link. But people will definitely have left the page thinking nothing is happening by then.

why the preloader script below might not be working correctly in all browsers? It definitely loads the files properly, but the progress bar does not show in firefox. It just shows a blank screen until the files are 100% loaded, then the enter site logo appears.
I have tried the following things:
1. Using relative vs absolute file paths for the external swfs makes no difference to the behaviour.
2. Changed publish settings to export AS classes in other than the first frame - didn't have any anyway. No change.
3. Unchecked "export in first frame" for absolutely everything. Tried both checking and unchecking this for the actual loader_mc. No change.
I'd post my fla instead of code, but I'm using Flash 8 and can't save any earlier than MX2004 and people don't really seem to look at them that much when I post them. If anyone would like to see, I will upload.

Everything runs fine except the progress bar doesn't seem to be monitoring the FOB movieclip.
I have created a Flex custom preloader, exactly like it is done in this example: [URL]
Now when I implement this, is seems to work fine on my computer in FireFox and Chrome. I publish it on the server, refresh my cache and reload the application and I do get my customized preloader.
But on a friend's computer, the screen stays white for a while, and then for a second or so it shows the preloader, but the indicator is at 100%.
So the loading already happened before it showed the preloader.
When I test and simulate download it shows me the progress of the file loading but the screen is blank white.Here is the code: I have two scenes...this is the preloader scene actions frame 1. Scene one works fine but the preloader doesn't show up

I'm using the code below on preloaders.[code]It doesn't always show all of my preloader, ie: by about 25% of the preloader animation it jumps to the movie. I still want the preloader to play all the frames before it goes to the movie regardless of download speed. Also sometimes it sticks on the final frame of the movie for a few seconds and then jumps to the main scene.

I see the loading progress percentage correctly run, at the end rotator_mc and counter_txt are removed from the stage, but the loaded movieclip is not added to the stage, or at least I can't see it.
I have a small problem with a preloader in Flash MX. It seems to become stuck at "frame 0" instead of showing the preload bar, etc...and I didn't know there was a "frame 0"? When I test it with "show streaming", the screen is blank and the preloader doesn't show, then, when the movie is done loading, the preloader flashes up briefly. I have 2 frames on my main timeline. Frame 1 is the preloader, and frame 2 contains a clip which constitutes the main movie. Frame 2 has stop() and both are labelled correctly i.e. when the movie is finished loading gotoAndPlay("movie") (frame 2) is executed.
View 3 RepliesI have a flash program written in Action Script 3. It worked fine on XP but I recently moved to windows 7 and now I have problems. It is a simple file upload program. In Windows 7 the progress moves really fast to 100% like it is reading a buffer and not what is being sent over the internet. Once it reaches 100%, the program hangs (sometimes hangs the browser) until the file has finished uploading. The program still works in XP so is this a known issue with Windows 7?

On loading the first frame of the movie I am trying to load a map at 50% scale. I tried loading into the frame where the map is located...

I am trying to load a random image into a movie clip that will scale 100%. Then have the content MC noScale and stay the same. If I insert a picture into the bg movieclip, it scales and shows up no problem. Soon as I try to load a random image into the bg movieClip the picture just does not show up!! But what is even weider, is that I have it set up that if the picture is 100% loaded for another MC to play, which it does! So the picture is there, but it's invisible? And no the picture is not progressive.

How does flash scale for fullscreen?For example, if I draw a shape and give it a width and height of 100px (square)...does that scale up proportionally when the flash is made full screen? Or does that object stay 100px x 100px?

The way I have it set up now is on the first frame of my main swf.playback is stopped until the trigger.swf (which calls the sharedlibrary.swf via the loadClip method) is cached. While it's stopped I just have a screen that says "now loading" (which is just some text on the main time line's keyframe) but I was wondering if there was a way to add a nice percent preloader instead. If anyone has read the book Flash 8 Beyond the Basics fromhey'll will probably know what I am talking about. I assume the script would need to monitor the caching of the shared library

i am loading all thumbs and images in a container on a single frame using action script..but the size of the swf becomes 1.2 mb so i want to add a loader to it. the loader i am trying to add counts the frames but my file has just one frame so the loader doesnot show up..

I need a preloader to include an external .swf (iPhone_334x500.swf) that is dynamically added later in the timeline. Currently, the preloader goes to 100% and then begins to load the external swf before completing and going to frame 2. Rather than just appear to sit at 100% for 20 secs while it is still loading my external swf, I would like to include the external swf's load time in the preloader data.
This is my "preloader" code on frame 1, which is empty except for the AS. (Just a basic bar and percent preloader.) I included all of my code just in case, so please ignore the font embedding and masking if it makes it easier.
