I'm trying to embed a swf file on a site. Here a link to the file on a page that works. Example Problem is, I need to place it on a different site (we have two servers) and it's not working once I link to the file on the other server. Below is the code. I've highlighted the part that I changed.

Here is my situation:
I have a Flash file hosted at:
http://static.mydomain.com/flash.swf
I have a web page that embeds that Flash file at:
http://www.mydomain.com/embed.html
The <embed> code for that SWF has the "allowScriptAccess" parameter set to "sameDomain". Currently, I cannot put links in "flash.swf" that change the location of the embedding page, because they are on different domains, and making a getURL() or ExternalInterface call won't be permissible.
Changing "allowScriptAccess" to "always" is not an option. Putting both files on the same domain is also not an option.
Policy files don't seem to be the solution (perhaps I'm coding them wrong?) and changing the "document.domain" of the embedding page doesn't seem to work either.
how to embed a url in a .swf file? I have Macromedia Flash MX, as one option. Please explain how I can do this, or point me to a resource with step-by step instructions.
View 4 RepliesThe entire banner needs to be a clickable link for the duration of the animation. So anyone can click on the banner at any point during the animation, and be brought to my site. I tried putting a frame at the end with getURL[URL] but that doesnt work. When I do that, the banner is not a clickable link, but the site opens automatically after the animation has played. Cant have that. So after doing some research, the apparent correct way to do this is by making a button, but I do that and the button obsures everything else.

1) import option ( File > Import ) but it is importing only Images and symbols. I want my original file as it in new file.
2) loader.load(), but this will load my external file at runtime only and to work smoothly it require both the files.

I inserted an swf file into the dreamweaver site to do the following :The swf allows people donate money through paypal and then return to the main site. I need a step somewhere so that I can disable buttons after the paypal process has occurred. Kglad has suggested that I direct to a new swf file when coming back from paypal. This makes sense, however, do I disable the donate button on the new swf file and if so, how will the actionscript recognise the button instances ?

View 3 RepliesI've searched the web and tried a number of different approaches to embed a font in my Flash movie but each has ended in frustration. I have created several buttons with dynamic text fields that use the font I need. I have added the font to my library, given it a unique name, exported for actionscript and then used the unique name when selecting the font in my dynamic text fields. I am probably not using the right AS code to embed and use the font. What's the easiest way to embed the font? I am also using the same embedded font in a around 5 flash movies on the site.

If I hard code the php file with the values listed above, everything works perfectly. But I'm using a php script that checks the directory for images, then provides that output.
I see that the background music in my Flash site is located in a symbol called muz When I click the properties of this symbol, the sound file's location is listed as.flashsoundmuz.wav I couldn't find that sound sub-folder in the flash folder nor could I find the file. I tried doing a search to look for the muz.wav file in my computer but it could not be found. Does anyone know how I can find and save this file?
View 3 RepliesI'm using the Flash CS4 IDE, and the first page of my site takes a lot longer to load than I want it to. So I wanted to go through the varied images / symbols / movie clips / sounds and so on to see where all the memory is being chewed up. When I go into my library, however, I can see the Name, LInkage, usecound and Type of my elements, but no mention of file size and I can't seem to find any right click menu that lets me add file size to the list of details being displayed. Is there a way to make it show file size? Or some workaround? And are there any best practices to reduce file size aside from using symbols for anything that's used more than once and reducing image and sound quality?

The site is now full functioning and just needs a few tweaks here and there, I started work on adding in the flash game i created.
At the moment on the "games" page there is a button which takes you to the next frame on which there is a movieclip for the game to load into. On this frame i have the following code:

-gameBox is the movieclip i want it to load into
Ok so the game itself displays fine and the character moves as it should but for some reason anything that relies on hit tests now fails to work (walls, enemies, powerups etc.) Everything works as it should when i test the maze.swf on it's own but doesn't when it's embedded into the site.
I have created a Flash site that I need to add another swf file to. how I can insert this other swf file into my existing website which is also a swf file? Can it be done? I've been tinkering with adding another layer and the timelines but can't seem to get it to work. The site is using AS2 but this newer swf file which I created from SlideShow Pro is using AS3.

I have built a few flash sites before and am trying to make one that is slightly more complicated and allows for dynamic, database stored images and text. I have built a dynamic gallery based on an XML feed in AS2 which works fine. I am trying to embed it into another FLA file that contains the remainder of the site (the gallery will be one page of the main site). I have tried a ridiculous number of different methods but just cannot get it to work. The gallery is built in AS2, so I am using an AS2 FLA file for the main template it is to be embedded in. The simplest method i have tried that i think should work is to create a new AS2 fla file, edit the actions on my actions layer to be: Empty.loadMovie("My Gallery.swf");
I have then created a new layer for the content and added a MovieClip to the top left of it, named Empty. I have set the instance name of this movie clip to be Empty. From what I have understood from my reading this is the simplest way to display the external file but for some reason it just will not work. It seems to see My Gallery.swf as when i delete it from the local directory i get an 'Error opening URL 'file:///D|/Websites/My Gallery.swf'' message. This message does not appear when this file exists locally, however it just opens a blank screen with nothing within it. I have been reading numerous tutorials and posts and i'm pretty sure i'm being thick, but for some reason i can't seem to get it to work!
my fonts displaying in my swf file. I created the flash site using CS4 on a mac. I thought the fonts were embedded but when I tested the swf in safari and firefox the fonts disappeared are all scrunched up in 1/2" on top of each other in several lines. Its a mess. It is displaying in times or some other font when viewed in on a pc browser.
What I did so far that did not work:
Made fonts static with animation

I'm trying to embed a .swf file within another .fla project using the the loadmovie command. Here's my code as it stands. This is sitting on a button:

When I test the project I can see that something has been loaded in but it doesnt play properly, it just kind of flashes. I have tried publishing the same video under different names but have the same problem every time? I uploaded the .swf I am trying to embed?

View 1 RepliesI have a project that requires embedding an XML file into the parent SWF AS3 code. this project relies on someone else's SWF that I do not have access to and it makes use of commands separated by &. When I load this SWF into a loader and pass the XML data to it from an external file, the & symbols are preserved and all is well. When I embed the XML data within the AS3 and point the loader to that XML data, all of the & get converted to & during parse at runtime or compile. How do I disable this? Is that possible to do?
I need to keep this format when the XML data is passed to the SWF in the loader:

I'm all very new to Flash! I'm a Designer. I recently out sourced a flash project and now my client needs it updating. My project consists of a music mixing desk. You press a button and video pops up. The buttons are in the stage. When pressed, this triggers a movie clip which loads a FLV player. SIMPLE! ([URL] - to see the site in action!) I have a simple flash gallery [URL]. I have put the SWF, image folder and XML in the root. I have tried embedding the SWF gallery into my Flash Project by importing it into the library and dragging it to where video content usually lives (FLV player). It doesn't work. I've tried other techniques (loadMovie etc). But I'm a bit fuzzy on these methods.

Everything works fine until I use the toString() function in the flashvars line, which breaks the code and causes the .swf file to fail loading.
i'm seriously going crazy with my flash file.i built an xml news ticker in as3 that works perfectly, but if i try to launch from html file, it doesn't work properly.
